will there be beast master job soon
This, I want a beastmaster job so bad, I want it to be in such a way that you can capture any monster you want and use them in battle (Except bosses, etc) And to totally redesign summonses, they suck DX
I didn't really do much with Beastmaster in FF XI, but it was cool from the little I tried and a lot of what I saw in the open world while in exp groups. It'd be great to see it again and see what SE does with the class in XIV. I haven't heard anything about it though but we will see what the future brings.
I'd love to see this return as well, along with Samurai.
Beastmaster sure is a weird way to spell Dark Knight
i'd love a BST class. It'd fit my character perfectly, as its not a magic based pet class. Melee range pet class maybe? :D
Well they said the Gun class won't be what we think it is, so it could potentially be a hunter style class with a pet.
Not sure if I'd like beastmaster in this game. Part of the appeal for beastmaster in XI was because the world was dangerous and beastmaster could tackle it solo, alone in the world without a care.
I had this memory in post-abyssea (came back to mess around while waiting for 1.x patches and ARR)..me and my friend were trying to kill this orc notorious monster in davoi. I think it was supposed to be lvl 60 and we were lvl 95 with starting abyssean gear. I was a drg/blu and he was some sort of drk/??? and we were able to dispatch most of the lvl 60-70 normal mobs in there (in XI, same level mobs can wipe the floor with same level solo players easily). Anyway, we had trouble killing the blm orc boss because he had like 3-4 normal orcs surrounding him and his spell can hit for almost all of my hp in one cast. We tried pulling the boss away from the abandoned house he was camping in but we couldnt get it to work (zone out to reset him and reclaim him while he was back so we can fight without his adds).
While we were devising on what to do, we saw a BST with the same gear as ours and asked if she can help us. Turned out that the BST was japanese and couldnt communicate well with us but she joined us anyway. So as we were trying to communicate with her on what we're about to do and how we should go about it from outside the abandoned house the orc was in, her sheep (nursery nazuna) suddenly sped off into the house. The BST just sat there with us while I was communicating with my DRK friend about what just happened. We couldn't see anything from outside and was only able to use the battle log to grasp what's happening inside the house and we weren't sure if we even should run in to 'help'. Several minutes later, the sheep came out of the house..triumphant. That thing just went to solo 4 lvl 60-70 orcs and one orc boss that could easily two shot us and the BST wasnt even outgearing us! We thanked her and went our separate ways but that sure did a number on our morale.
Anyway, the monsters in eorzea are dumb and simplified (that monster type vs monster type chart would probably be gone just like elemental wheels). They're also weak unlike in XI (I went as a lvl 95 blue mage to fight a lvl 70 flayer alone to learn its spell. I needed to see his thunder spell to learn it and I tried preparing myself for it and picked out the safest place to fight it so I can run if things go bad...I saw it once and I ran out and never came back. It dealt 95% of my hp and I almost died zoning out and I didnt even learn the spell! The trek to the place was still pretty dangerous as it is and dying would have costed me my exp!) The only challenge around in eorzea would be 'super' boss fates and a SMN could probably be able to solo most of them. BST in arr would just be a melee dps with smn pets.
I don't ask for much, but when I do I ask for Dark knight.
It's frustrating because I do believe that the team would balance it and make it perform well...but how well it'd actually look is something else entirely.
I want to see a new job that is made for final fantasy 14, these other jobs are something we have seen in other titles.
I would like to see some new idea's other than what we've had over the years, new game new job.
I mean I wouldn't mind even seeing Solider 2nd class and when you get to level 30, soldier 1st class instead of dark knight lol
Like people said, BST will be nothing like XI in terms of being able to Charm a monster and send it after things. If anything Beastmaster will be like Summoner with certain pets (everyone having the same one) as Job abilities: a tank, a melee, and a range. But Beastmaster itself would be a melee and not a ranged character, least it won't be DoTs~ I played XI for the first time since 2002 with ps2 launch (had to quit cause of baseball in high school) with Seekers of Adoulin, I tried it just for Beastmaster. Was able to get it to lvl 64 solo without Books before Phase 3 beta started and man was it fun. The thrill of being able to take on monsters that would wipe me one-on-one either by tossing a strong mob at it or tossing weaker ones until it died, I solo'd the Banshee NM for one of the BST AFs by using Bats, took me around 2 hours but every second was adrenaline pumping, hoping not to aggro the magic pots or my hp to drop so low another Banshee or Skeleton would aggro me. Having to avoid the other Bats as I pet swap throwing Bats at this ghost that would wipe them after 30 seconds or so. Some of the most fun I've had with a video game was the Beastmaster mechanics. Sadly XIV will not be able to replicate any of this. Alchemist / Culinarian making Jug pets? What could be a nice boom to the market, Nope because we can't have Jobs using consumables like that.
I'd like to see BST return in FF14, I'm not sure if charming would work but a jug/ability based, melee pet class sounds fun to me. Especially one that could dual wield axes. The lack of difficult open world content would be a drawback but this time I'm sure they'd make it useful in groups, which the FF11 version never was, sadly.
BST parties were hugely OP though, so much fun pting up with 2 other BSTs and being able to xp faster than any other 6 man pt.
I don't see how SE ruined SMN.
Smn was my main job in FFXI, and it was HORRRREENDOUSSSS. Sure, you got amazing avatars after busting your ass beating them. But then what did you do with them?
You were more than likely put on Ghetto healing duty. I remember doing Sky, Sea and Dynamis, and I was put on ghetto Stone Skin with Titan or once again...Healing. I was more productive to be a refresh bot as RDM.
SMN was absolutely terrible in FFXI, and I feel like they did a great job with it here, and I like the concept for the Egis, even if they look kinda silly.
Charming wouldnt work because the BST would have to be able to go into dungeons as whatever role it's been set to and square would have to design each dungeon to make sure it'll always have a monster to charm for BSTs. Plus there's always backwards compatibility issue with older dungeons and we all know SE's stance on backwards compatibility so far (we've already done it this way and we dont want to go back and change it because we'd rather make 'new' things).
Jugs or other consumables for making pets available to bst will also not work because the policy is not to have any job/class reliant on purchasing them from the market or npcs.
So that leaves having actual BST skills to summon pets. That has one problem. BST's appeal is wide variety of pets to use and if we have too many summon skills on BST, we'd essentially have less skills to play with at any given time compared to any other class. If we have too few, well, we'll have too few pets to play with! There's a wide variety of mob types in Eorzea and having a bst that can only have a couple little pets would be disappointing.
i been hoping see more beast master with a whip. my beleif is that give chance put blue mage in as well more add quistis style blue mage. before anyone jump concussion say i want them to be use whip on the pet i don't believe beast master should have whip on the pet more use as melee weapon. it rare to see exotic weapon like whip be use on enemies. i hope to see a simalar system to wow where you have lvl your pet and ability to keep the pet as you companion. I notice that some players would be fond this strucation. yoshi p said would do something silimar to the original bst if the for ffxi. my suggest is that have system like wow would attract players like the ability keep they pets and this also fun to see who could get best pet.this give alot good ideal personal home for beast master with stable and stuff. Players in ffxi has want ability keep they pets.
I theorycrafted a Flayer class leading into the Beastmaster and Blue Mage jobs (link in my signature if you care to see it). I basically gave it whips and their pets have short casting times so that they can swap pets on the fly to do various things or to compensate for various changes in battle. No charming since that wouldn't work here really. I gave them 6 total pets that they would unlock via job quests, one for each Bloodborn class (crab, wolf, firefly, raptor, funguar, vulture). Each pet has its own special focus for abilities such as the crab having the best tanking stats, the wolf being good single target melee DPS and the firefly being a magical ranged DPS. Would love a BST that uses many pets in a single battle.
i also like drake in your system as pets
we don't do anything in the open world and the mobs that exist are a joke once you hit level50. the mobs are also tethered to their spawn locations making aggro np. the open world exists for the storyline which we all skip through as fast as we can.
there isn't any sort of beast hierarchy in this game, nor elemental properties. the game is instance based, most of which is too simple to make use of such a job. coil and primals would require use of "pot" pets, thus making the job even less of a "beastmaster" and more of a summoner type. this game has been built with the lowest common denominator in mind; we'll never see such complex jobs.
Oh you know, by just turning it into a half assed Rdm (DoT etc), with a pet that doesn't really do much in terms of damage. You know, stuff like that >.> What they should have done was put more focus on the actual avatars, give them a buff in damage too so they can keep up with other jobs.
And XI's smn was made that way because of players, just like nin.
As someone who didn't come from XI, I think SMN is fine mostly. The biggest issue is how useless anything except Garuda is, but Yoshi has stated they're working on a solution to that, so that solves that issue. This isn't FFXI, this is FFXIV. Things are going to play differently, you may not like it, but that doesn't make SMN ruined. Just not the job for you.
Plus, if I am not mistaken, the summons themselves deal around 30% of a SMNs total DPS (at least this is the number I have always heard). That's kind of a lot...
I loved BST in FFXI, and I enjoyed Hunter in WoW as well, though it wasn't anywhere NEAR as fun. FFXI-BST was just pure adrenaline-fueled heart-pounding craziness. Running around throwing weaker monsters at a bigger monster, sending the message that YOU are in control of your surroundings...at least until something resists charm, Tame is down, and something eats you alive. Using the charm-move-release-repeat technique to work your way through an area loaded with aggro was like strolling through a dungeon and befriending every critter along the way. "Hi! Nice to meet you! Let's go for a walk. OK, gotta go! See ya!" Or, if it wasn't charmable, you could just distract it for a bit with something that was charmable or a jug pet.
The FFXI style may never work in FFXIV, but as long as whatever they do is implemented well, I'll be happy. I wouldn't even mind if they took a page from WoW (yeah, I know, but hear me out) and let you tame the monster of your choice as a pet (or have more than one pet, because it's good to have options for different situations as well as for aesthetic appeal) and develop it as you level, much like the chocobo companion.
Why would anyone want BST in this game? I mean, if you reeeeeally want to cast "heavy" on everything, you can just level THM and use blizzard 1.
smn WAS terrible ,later on SE added some awesome gear for SMN that made SMN an awesome and fun job , separting pacts (for attacks and buffs) was the 1 step in the right direction .Smns now are a respectable DD free of hate (thats what makes SMN special :P), and yeah still can toss Cures here and there , the huge MP pool is there for a reason!
Bst changed a lot later on , was more a DD with an awesome pet by his side , using a point system for pet attacks (some attacks consume 1 other 2 , 3 ect) ,doble axe + pet is baddass :3
PUP , was awesome since the beggining , cool idea for a pet class ^^ , caster , tank , ragend ,healer automatons :3 , the caster 1 was my favorite ,but doing a skillchain with the ranged 1 was just awesome too :3
SE created 3 different pet classes and all them were unique and awesome on their on , fun to play and used their pets to the fullest (as pet class should do!)
I have one ideal solution that people may or may not be sold on. But lets just play with a hypothetical scenario here and say that BST is announced and it'll be a melee pet class, with a balanced set of abilities and summons, similar to Summoner. Except, you have the ability to glamour your pet.
So, for example, pet A has 3 attacks. Pet A is a dodo. Well, what if you don't care for a dodo? Simple. Change it to a raptor instead to fit your style. Game still keeps the same 3 abilities, balance is kept in place, and so on and so forth. To obtain this raptor, you have to challenge it and charm it to be able to glamour it. Once glamoured, they're yours to keep. They're purely for aesthetics and enable BST's an extra step to customize thier character and job.
For huge monsters that people prefer, just size them down (malboros, ogres, drakes, etc.).
I know it's not what people want, but I figured with reality in check, this is the best case scenario if it's ANYTHING remotely like how Summoner is.
I will probably subscribe if they implemented a bst or nin job; however, I am not fond of the game mechanics and dungeon obsession; hence I may play around for a month or less. Do not expect to contentiously play for an extended period of time (Months).
Sad fact is that it didn't matter as long as your tank was alive. A BLM nuking every 45 seconds would also avoid pulling hate. And even when it mattered, all hate free meant was that you could run and hide when tank died.
Then there was the problem that 90% of the SMN gear was WHM/BLM armors with SMN tacked on as an afterthought. MND and INT did nothing for SMN pets, and you were relegated to JSE, AF, AF2, AF3 and that was pretty much the entire gear sortiment for SMN until 2012. (Didn't play after)
Summon esque pets
Give the master whips^^
Said this in multiple threads; i do not want controllable pets whom stay out akin to a pt member. Uncreative smn design? No thanks. Ill just take a flashy move from a large monster^^ Just my humble preference; I do not want to see XI all over again XD.
I like my BSTing as much as anyone in XI, but I'm not sure it could translate well at all to this game. I see it likely coming out as just a physical version of SMN, without DoTs. If that happened, it'd effectively be nothing but flavor text.
I want PUP. Or a necromancer class.. Both really works well :)
I'm more interested in seeing the introductions of the Dark Knight and a stealth-based class (let's call it Thief) first. To a lesser extent, Musketeer as well. But everybody has their pet classes that they would love to see added.
