Least played job?

Sorry if this has been asked a bunch of times. I just started back playing after a 5 month break since I can run the game on something reliable now. Anyways, i'm tired of seeing a Dragoon everywhere I turn so... What's the least played job? Is it still Paladin? If you could, please put them in order. Ty :)

In terms of how well people play the job, I'd say sch. Always seems to be the last slot to fill up in T5 party finder groups.

Usually it seems like everyone is looking for a Scholar.

When a SCH is played bad, it's bad.

Paladin, Warrior and Summoner jobs are all under-populated in comparison to other jobs

Didnt see SMNs for ages, now I seem to get one in nearly every roulette lately!

PLD/WAR are probably the least played job in my opinion. Not many people want the extra responsibility of keeping a group alive...healers are the 2nd least played for this reason as well. Again, in my opinion. Everyone under the sun otherwise is a dps of some sort and I don't see any classes in this category lacking at all.

On my server least played are MNK, SMN and WAR, because noone wants them anywhere lol. I know only one good war that knows how to play, making an average pld much more desirable.

Indeed, i main sch but i play whm a lot as well and the amount of sch that doesn't seem to realize how to play is staggering.
Stuff like no galvanize before big predicted hits (titan stomps for instace), the fairy keeping on sync or not rezzing her when she is dead cause of careless management.

I would not say that a minor galvanize (400 or so) makes much difference for the fight (unless people are undergeared). But what makes sch to be good is understanding they are a healer + buffer + debuffer + dps job. Healing/shielding is just a fraction of scholar abilities and puts you on the same level as whm minus aoe healing.

The least played is monk (on my server at least) and sometimes SMN. The least played well is certainly SMN imho.

I'd say warriors are pretty rare, at least compared to their counterpart. I honestly don't think summoners are rare. I see them a lot. As for melee, they're the most popular IMO, but very, very few are played correctly. Partly because there's more dodging involved; some people have terrible connection to the servers others simply have too slow reaction times.

I have been using Eos and Selene on Obey since february when i started playing sch as main. I am sure you didn't even understand what i was talking about if you consider those things an advanced scholar knowledge.

FFXIV has a large error margin and repeating battles nature, thus progression level is not very good to determine one's skill. Most of things i learned were from fresh lv50 players who actually were exploring content themselves and doing things considered wrong by the majority, while they actually worked better.

Maybe it's just me, but when doing my duty roulettes, I hardly ever see Monk these days. I mean, not that I mind, because any Fistfighter set drops are mine for the taking, but it's still a little depressing that my favorite job has so little representation. D:

Thats because you are queuing as melee. The DF prioritizes balanced groups of 1 melee and 1 ranged. So if you join as MNK the chances are higher to get a BRD/BLM/SMN, while joining as ranged will most often give you a MNK/DRG.

From my experience, the queue times seem to be much longer as ranged dps, so i think they are more popular. Its also not that unusual to get a second ranged dps on DF.

Actually for stomps, it's better to time it to hit right as the first stomp lands. More efficient use of it.

Your response is fine, as a personal opinion, when you add "most of us" you just overstep your bounds. Stop talking for other people, it will make the forums a much better place.

Just the fact that you're flaming him makes it mostly correct. Plus getting the 400 heal + 400 Shield out of your Succor by timing it to land after the first stomp hits is superior to precasting it just for the 400 shield.

I think the issue is people interpreting minor as bad, insignificant as useless and good as insufficient compared to better. However speaking in a simplified terms does not let one to understand the subject.
Just to end the debate i would like to repeat: scholar utility is much bigger than using galvanize shields - don't stop your learning on it, only this does not make you a good scholar.

You can get a good idea in game by typing /sea all SCH (for example) into the chat box and seeing what comes up.

For me I'd say mnk is lowest followed by SCH, then smn, then DRG, war, then the rest are usually capping 200+.

Weirdly enough tanks seem relatively well populated I guess they just don't like doing duty finder.

Even when I do see mnks, they're always the kind that never move, gimping their damage :/ Or I get the ones that only spam their first 3 skills, instead of adding their DoTs and stuff into it >.> Or those mnks who never switch stances, even if the situation changes. Know what? While I'm at it, so many lazy people in XIV lol (Not everyone, just saying a large portion who don't maximize their damage from position/read what a skill does)

1. I do not consider someone bad or good by the way they do things - only by results they get in the end. I will not consider someone good if they do some commonly accepted things, neither i will consider someone bad for not doing them. Experienced players follow the tactic of the "minimal effort" - they will not do something unless it is absolutely necessary for the win. I hope my point is understandable.

That is quite possibly the worst statement in the history of statements. Things become commonly accepted things for a reason, others don't, also for good reasons.

And people don't do or not do things "unless absolutely necessary", there's varying degrees of "what works best" without having to do or not do any particular thing in a particular circumstance.
