I blacklist those useless people.
I see no issue with paying someone to help you clear content. It's like they're mercenaries. So what?
imma blist you now too but you not on my server woot!
It just lets people without the skill to clear clear content...
I don't want people who can't clear T5 looking for T6+ groups. If we have to get a sub for whatever reason, we need people able to coordinate and do their job properly. If you got carried through T5 because you're either unable to dodge (coordinate) or don't do your job properly, you're just going to waste our time.
Those people are willing to sell clears through content. They're not making you pay for it, and as such you're more than welcome to make/join a group and clear it for free.
Do you blacklist everyone that sells items via AH? I mean they're selling completed items! How dare they take away from somebody making the items themselves?
Selling runs for in game gil is the same as a Blacksmith or Armorer getting gil for melds & crafting. It's a vibrant in game virtual economy.
Well if we re worded that in favor of RMT we know perfectly well how the dev team would react to it and not just in this MMO alone either.
So that phrasing has a loophole.
I understand the concept of getting people clears at a cost. Since it happens a lot when end-game content in many MMO's where said content isn't easy to achieve and requires party of people to do it.
Personally I don't see why people make a big deal out of it. There's a reason why I don't bother with end-game raiding and make little effort to do the extreme primals. The tolerance level of players has become so toxic that all it takes is 2 wipes for people to say, "omg this isn't happening I'm leaving" making people literally give up on it. I only expect it to get worse because that's the only direction it is heading towards to.
I blame the garlean empire.
I blist anyone who sells content they are one in the same as garbage RMT. Spammers.
I would sell content, but I have a soul so I just help for free here and there. Bad part is can't even afford a small size house though.
Housing is way over rated. A kind heart is priceless.
I see people buying content clear service all the time. They've cleared it themselves already (seeing how as some of them are in FCs I know that run statics). A lot of the time it's mostly from people who are in statics that run once a week and want to get more runs in (T1-5 + EX primals).
If you've got the money and want to get a certain piece of gear (esp. in T5) then paying someone to ensure a clear doesn't seem like an issue.
As for those paying for clears on primals (specifically Titan EX) because they can't get past it. Again, if you have the $$$ then go for it. I mean you're buying into an economy that will probably gouge you pretty good all things considered. When the service is limited at best, you can expect the amount to be paid before completion to be fairly high (upwards of hundred/s of thousands of gil).
Only an idiot would compare the two. Buying crafted gear to help you get through said content, or Paying someone else to carry your lazy ass through said content. See? totally irrelevant argument.
No It is not at all!
Will buying a set of gear from a crafter unlock Ifrit Ex or Coil 2?
Count it! And One!
Yes, very likely if you need the gear & melds to meet the ilevel requirements. Everyone certainly has had to buy something to get to where their going.
Unless you, someone in your FC, or a generous crafter made & melded your relic for free… harvested or acquired the materials on your own or had them donated to you… the you “paid” for "advancement" of “content” with in game currency.
Our FC consist of two statics and a few other friends, and we sell all the time. Virtually every week we do sale groups. Just made a mil in the last two days for about four hours of sales.
Sales are awesome! For both parties. About 40% of our sales are not bad players. Some players just don't want to put up with PF groups or DF groups. Sure we have people block us. We joke about it all the time. People who block us are not folks we want to play with anyways. It's not like we are joining any random groups in PF to do content. We don't have to worry about randoms blacklisting us =p
We also have tons of gil now that we pour back into the economy. People are either indifferent or view our services positively. I think people who get upset about sales are either upset they cannot do it themselves or staunchly feel content should not be available to those who excel at making gil.
Most sale advertisements are heavily muted. Maybe a shout every few minuets and a PF ad. I would hardly consider that spam considering FCs spam way more often for recruitment.
after being stuck on titan ex for months and apparently not having (enough) friends or luck with randoms to win it legit, i probably start saving gil so i can atleast advance with the quest , its not like i dont want to earn it , its always 2-3 hours waiting in PF to even fill a party , then some person leaves after few wipes and party disbands and hours of party finder waiting again , if i used the wasted PF time to earn gil ill probably be done faster with it
just wanted to share a different perspective of a person who has the only choice of being stuck or pay
I bought a clear service once during the early weeks of Titan EX. Why? Because I want a group of people who's competent enough not to fail the said dungeon.
Did I get carried? Ofcourse not, I didn't die in that run.
"Mercs" have been in most MMO games, and I doubt the trend will ever die out. So long as people are willing to pay for it, the market for it will exist. If they really bother you, as mentioned prior there is a blacklist function.
Mind you I am not advocating or trying to encourage it, just think it's a bit silly to complain about it.
The people I hate the most are the ones who buy gil from RMT then use that to buy carries.
True. I banged my head against Titan X for weeks and couldn't down it to save my life. I got to a point where If I had 600K to buy a run, I would have. Luckily, my FC was offering to get some people through it and not only did I get my win (I only died because at the very end, they finished Titan instead of breaking my Gaol), but I helped them with an additional run for another FC member (didn't die that time at all).
So, just because you have 7 other people that know a fight, doesn't make you more skillful than winless people. It just means that you have 7 other people that know the fight.
It's so much easier and cheaper to just make your own PF and kick people for repeated failures than to give in and buy a carry :\
After 3 weeks of failures, that's what I did. I even made sure to indicate that rule applies to me too, and the first party I made beat Titan EX in 2 tries.
I refused to buy a carry no matter how frustrated I got, because I'm a firm believer that if I have to buy a carry for this to win, then that's going to be a trend for future difficult challenges. At that point, it'd be clear that this game is not the right game for me.
Short term fix - Buy runs.
Long term fix - Join FC/LSes, make friends, etc.
You'll get your shiny but it doesn't matter. You end up being a repeat customer and pay a gil subscription. Then you begin to become a player that doesn't put any effort into doing things anymore since there's an easier path. Then games get dumbed down and turn to f2p/p2w to try to cash in.
Then you get people bitching about elitist PF groups who kick people who fail at mechanics. There are plenty of sour grapes to go around!
I guess the only way to play the game it to be a bleeding heart that gives up all their time to help anyone and everyone progress for 10 hours to get one titan ex kill.
There is a lot of truth in this statement. We have a client list of repeat buyers. We sold to a guy last night who has bought at least 15 primal runs before. He is good enough to join an FC and run with a static; yet, he is more than happy to pay us to run his toon and his son's toon through content.
Yes, but it's rare. I can't count how many times I've been in fail Ex primals (Garuda to Levi) and T4 PFs all because of a few players who lie about having experience. If I had the gil, I'd gladly buy a competent party so I can get what I still need. I'm sick and tired of failed pugs, and 90% of the time, the people causing the fails refuse to listen and keep repeating the same mistake that causes wipe after wipe
Thanks, I will have fun.
Actually some people buy who a "Carry" aren't buying a carry
They have the ability to do it and are actually buying a group who can clear it without failing 100 times
I.e a fc friend of mine a really good player couldn't find a decent group after 4 weeks he bought a group and cleared it straight away
How so?
It is incredibly frustrating when people who have "experience" can't deal with the basics of certain content... Don't run through tornadoes... don't stand in front of the dreadnoughts... any number of things in the current crop of content that people seem to not be able to handle... don't provoke titan while ur behind him (mountain buster to the entire party).
That does not make him or myself an elitist hardcore... I wouldn't pay for a run myself but if someone wants to to ensure that they don't have to deal with dumbasses then that is fine with me.
also, before I get jumped on, I am mre than willing to teach people and be patient, so long as they show progress and competence. We all make mistakes, but suffering fools isn't a requirement of the game
