1. No one is forcing you to waste countless hours on the atma weapon, if you don't like the grind then go gear up in coil
2. You can turn the echo buff off
3. No one cares
Dude, take a break from fate grinding. Play in some of the new dungeons. The Atma/Animus weapon isn't even best in slot right now. Work on it slowly and pace yourself. Try Leviathan Ex or something.
I would take a break, I quit back in Nov because I was burnt out and came back just before 2.2, sometimes you just have enough of these things and there is nothing wrong with that.
I do agree though that the Atma grind is likely to put a lot of people off the game, sure its not required and nobody is forcing anyone to do it, but a lot of people have come back to 2.2 to do the content and Zodiac is part of that, SE have ruined what could have been a really good long term goal by making the Atma so dependent on RNG.
The majority of people I talk with in game don't like FATE so why SE would somewhat force us to do that is really stupid, I guess they want the world to look alive with players when all those PS4 subs come in next month.
i think the echo buff is meant to boost players to the latests highest content, esle they'd be stuck long on HM as initial players originally were , the boost help em to catch up so you have people to play with in the latest content , not everyone has been around long
I don't mind the fate grinding at all. I'm really looking forward to some grinding content. I don't like the idea that you only need tomes to get gear. Every gear should be drops. It would make every dungeon more exciting. Now you just wanna finish it to get the stupid tomes and don't care about the loot at all (or well I like it for vanity but that's it)
I got my first relic weapon today, so gonna get +1 and then start the grinding and it's gonna be awesome!
I do agree with the echo buff part though. Getting help to beat challenging bosses just sucks. And it doesn't matter if I turn it off, everyone else will still have it!
I did titan for my first time today and we got him down to like 10% and then we wiped. One or two more tries and we'd have killed him, but since we had the echo buff it didn't feel rewarding at all to take him down
The echo buff isn't really that helpful. People don't seem to try the first few deaths on purpose now so there is still alot of wiping, just like there was before. Now, it's just mandatory. Watching people still get stomped with +30% echo buff is kind of disheartening too.
Ya right now I'm waiting for 2.3 or 2.4 since those are the patches that will most likely nerf Atma RNG to a more agreeable rate or remove them completely because the RNG right now only favors the fortunate. You have to ask yourself this first and if you answer yes then by all means good luck with your luck

2.4 is when the 4th tier Tomes is released and soldiery replaces myth so the books by then will cost 375 soldiery tomes which is more easily obtain within a day at 2.4 time frame
(Note: Myth tomes hold the value of 1/4 of Soldiery tomes.)
It does not make sense.
Because if you have nothing else to do with the game, playing a quest that doesn't appeal to you doesn't sound like it should be your first choice of action...go play something else?
When i'm bored with the fun content in a game, the last thing I want to do is play the boring content in a game. I mean...like, why?
Seriously, just go do something else. People are free to complain about dumb crap on the forums all they want. I just hope they know how silly it looks.
The weapon appeals to me, the second part of the quest appeals to me ...
I don't find farming fates boring so much as frustrating.
Ultimately you are right though, I shouldn't want to do content that isn't appealing which is part of the issue I have with the first part of the Zodiac quest.
I have to agree on beast tribes.
Why aren't there tons of more quests in those systems?
Even the old ones were bare bones requiring you to do the same quest dozens of times to get fame.
They should add more beast tribe quests to the EXISTING tribes before adding more tribes.
To the OP.
Yes grinding it is so @#*&ing frustrating but it can be completed. I am 1 away after 35+ hours over a week and nothing beats the satisfaction of completing ATMA hell!
I would enjoy the quick access to the weapon, but I am 100% against grindy content, so i'm ignoring it completely. Well lucky me, everything Square added in 2.2 (that ISNT atma) requires no RNG grinding or fate farming!
I was against them adding in shitty content like this to begin with, but i'm so grateful it's one that's actually viable to completely ignore. Which is why I don't really get the complaining behind it.
Take a break until 1st expansion.
Lots of people post here about things coming then... and for some reason, that seems the magical time that development will catch up.
If nothing else, this baseline will be done, and hopefully wrinkles will be ironed out. Plus, that would hopefully see new classes/jobs.
It doesn't seem like anything innovative is going to happen before the first expansion and with the content treadmill, I bet dollars to donuts you will be able to jump back in and gear up just as fast as everyone else without missing a beat.
I'm a casual.
I'm in full i90, BiS pre 2.2 (save the allagan wep) and capping Soldiery weekly.
I'm mediocre at best.
I like echo.
Leave me my echo.
I started my atma grind yesterday, ran fates for an hour and got two of them. I have no intention on running fates for more than an hour at a time because I find them rather boring. You only grind as much as you want to. I see no point in being that obsessive on getting anything. You'll burn out quickly.
You aren't alone on the atma grinding, though honestly I'm more annoyed with the locking out of Turn 6+ in coil if someone hasn't completed turn 5, much like how they did the same thing last patch with the primal fights. I've cleared every primal EX from 2.1 and there is no practical reason why someone needs to wait on Garuda to go fight Titan or Ifrit, and the problem is going to get worse now that they've thrown in Leviathan and King Moogle Mog extremes, requiring people to have cleared ifrit just to try them out.
If players are at end game and geared enough, just let the players do what they want to do, with who they want to do it with. Why is this such a hard thing to understand?!
Stress, by the power of the squishy stress relief hand ball I banish thee!
I couldn’t do titan ex tried with my static (that brock today but that’s a different story) tried in DF over 100 times, I’m not the problem but the groups that I get in are, so the rest of the primal is locked for me.
Same goes for T6 since we didn’t win T5.
I wish I could do the relic books, that will keep me playing for a long time but ATMA farming killed it for me (over 860 fates and only got 6).
Can’t farm more than 450 soldiery.
This patch added lots of content yet most of them are locked to me.
So its back to nothing to do other than farming soldiery once a week since I have full ilvl 90, and all my classes are 50 even crafting and I don’t need gill since I played from 1.0.
Do I see myself continue playing this game? I don’t think so.
The Coil lockout, requiring you to complete the First Coil before the Second Coil, makes perfect sense because there is a story progression that goes with it. Really, there should be a requirement to have to complete each in order before being able to move on, but there isn't much story between them to be that bothered. Just like how you have to complete the main story to get into end game, and not simply skip it, hit lv50 and just jump straight into end game.
Primal EXs are likely requiring previous defeats because there is an increase in difficulty and level requirement. Just like with the HM, it's about progression. Having access to Levi/Moogle Ex immediately, would more than likely render Garuda/Titan/Ifrit Ex pointless. There's at least some reason to actually do the fights, even if only once.
In both cases, the key word is "progression".
Funny. Last I checked, you could take it off. Besides, some people have good gear and have latency issues, so the few ticks of extra hp helps when plumes make your computer lag.
Let me guess, you are going to tell me to buy a computer. Tell me how to make an extra 600 bucks appear out of thin air and I'll do it :]
If not, then..

I browsed the japanese forums, and they are feeling the exact same way as we are on the Atma farming, so I expect them to change it soon. Just put that part off and wait till they change it.
this game is what it is. and i am completely bored.
I don't have a problem at all with the atma farming. I chose not to make grinding them my main focus for now, they are just something I do for half an hour or so here and there. If I only have a short time to play or I'm waiting for df to pop I'll do a few fates. There is enough content in the game that we can vary what we do, so it is only grindy if we make it grindy for ourselves. I can gather, I can craft, I can run one of many dungeons, do primals, help other people out, play with the venture system, change my hair, make materias go boom, pvp, do the manderville. I can do loads of stuff to just plain have fun with other players. If the game is a grind for you, it's because you're making it one, not SE.
The accomplishment is completing the primal challenge quest and getting a weapon awarded, though. The lock outs are sort of arbitrary: Even the cutscenes could be remixed in any particular order for the first three primals. I'm not so sure about leviathan and King Moogle Mog as I haven't gotten to trying them out yet.
It's a know fact that FFXIV servers suffer from massive lag and latency spikes, we could have all the money in the world and the datacentre will still be half way across the world from Europe.
Network latency issues are normally not a players issue it is the ISP and game servers issue. (Some people can't do anything about that) so jump of that high horse.
Do you find the echo even helps?
They might as well just make you automatically win when the timer runs out. In most pugs, that would be a accomplishment anyway... :P If SE added that in the future, I'd probably be fine with it.
I wish the echo buff did what you says it does, I really do. Sure, I also wish people would just play better or have better computers/internet connections. Even giving people a whole bunch more stats doesn't seem to fix pugs for me. I do see people get even more ambitious. Where they might have been shy to do a fight before, now they try thinking they will just wipe the group a bunch of times and that is ok. That might have been fine if that actually had been a way to win eventually. They still hug the floor anyway every pull.
I don't mind people being new at all or having computer issues. I do mind people that refuse to put down the sandwich and turn off candy crush in the background... :p Some people just don't try.
I love playing this game. It doesn't matter what I'm doing because of who I'm doing it with. When I'm with friends irl or in the game, having a laugh and shooting the breeze is easy. The time flies when you're having fun. Some of the content, old and new, is mind-numbing yes. That's when good friends are the most valuable to me.
i'm glad they added something that involves a grind that takes a while to complete. it's given me really he first thing to work on in a long time in this game. glad it's not just given to me and enjoying the atma quest.
This is just starting boys.
In most of the MMRPGS, the people with gaming sesions of 3 - 4 hours, can gear only One or two jobs to the elite level.
If our playerbase expect. Everyone can pimp out 6 classes they are dreaming. Yeah in the 2.1 ARR was possible but in 2.2 + "No".
The Relic Weapons creation phase is early levels.
Im sure in 2.3 - 2.4 more growthing phases will be introduced."Yes more grind and probably hardcore grind not the lolatmas farm"
Probably in 3 - 4 updates. "Only a few players" will be able to complete a "FULL RELIC WEAPON".
With my Gaming sessions i will be lucky if i can gear "One job". But im Fine with that.
Let me say a good Resident evil Remake Phrase, most the people playing MMRPGS feels better with this.
"Mountain Climbing - Beyond the hardships lies accomplishment".
I havent been farming atma for the past week or so. Not because I have an issue with it, (I don't, I have 4 so far)- but because I've been too busy with all the other 2.2 content.
Hopefully when some other priorities are satisfied I can get back to farming them.
It's a fallacy to indicate that you're having problems with the way they designed acquiring something in this game (obviously because it doesn't suit you) but then rejecting the idea that people are comparing it to other games. You essentially want to change the game into something that it isn't currently (another game).
Regarding the first post about the echo buff though, I agree it does more or less remove the challenge for people, but it really is subjective. When it comes to PUGs, which is the most popular source of group activity, the echo buff is a God-send. It's wrong to think that people are there with the objective of challenge as a priority over victory. You don't pick your groups as a PUG and you could easily wind up with people that are not team players or are severely undergeared than what your group would otherwise need. It's true that some might be there for the learning experience and challenge PUGs present, but it's the lesser of 2 wrongs to prioritize victory over challenge. At least when it comes to something like PUGs. The echo buff for static/LS/FC groups can definitely be looked at negatively if they want the challenge (which is most appropriate for these groups). Supposedly, you can remove it manually though, so there's always that at least.
Didn't you post this complain thread like a week ago?
Girl.. you need to calm down. Just because you are throwing a temper tantrum, doesn't mean you are going to get your way.
