Is anybody else incredibly annoyed by the fact that your feet but through the back of the Vanya robe when you move? In a game this pretty, you'd think they could fix something like that. Wouldn't it be a simple fix to adjust it?

Gear physics (along with all the other physics in the game animations) are not easy to accomplish, this is the same reason why they are trying to avoid long hairs hairstyles. Hard to make it not to clip with all the armors available.
Sometim'es stuff like this slip their view or they simply don't think it's worth the time it would take to fix it, as it's often seen as a minor inconvenience.
So in other words... PS3 limitations.
Not only that, but it would also leave out cheap computers :P
But yes... hardware limitations (to not require you to have a crazy computer).
And less time developing too. This can be done without requiring so much from hardware but that's harder to do, a lot harder, and takes much more time... Which they rather be spending doing other stuff (creating other type of content).
Yeah but that is done client size, I'm pretty sure they left this engine aside as to lower the hardware requirements to play the game.
Don't get me wrong, a system like that is amazing, just expensive to maintain, as I'm sure it needs a lot of processing, though I could see them making something like this to define gear sizes and shapes for different races, then imprint that size into a new skin file. So that they have the already processed armor. Anyway.
Maybe it help if SE make the robes shorter (knee-free)
a bigger problem that should be fixed is on female hyur on a mount the robe clips thru the mount completely except the magitek and behemoth mount. sorta annoying when u get on your mount and your robe cuts it in half
i remember when my tail meant something and gear didnt clip on everything, its the small things that go a long way. I wish they would go back to the old 1.0 system
I think that its a clipping issue, not a glitch....
I had to change my characters hair shorter because I got sick is seeing my hair clip through everything :-(
Bothered me at first but then I stopped caring. In fights I have to zoom the camera all the way out (lol), so I barely see my character.
I hope when the ps4 version comes out they up the engines or atleast have an option to.... i understand limitations but y not just give the player the option to run the game at max capacity??
Show me a computer made this day and age with 256 MB of RAM. Gonna be pretty hard, considering the minimum memory requirements for the last couple generations of operating systems are 1 GB.
Honestly, if WoW can have belts, so can XIV.
It really shouldn't be that hard to include visual options that players can toggle if their system can handle it. Like hi resolution textures. *grumble*
Incorrect, FFXI has less clipping overall than XIV and that was a PS2 game. Ever since Yoshi took over he started changing how the graphics were handled by taking out collision detection and adding insane amount of clipping. PS3 isn't exactly a weak system.
They stated the way graphics work in this game is so they can pump out gear easier and faster.
yet we are still getting rehashed designs aside from the initial af for all classes and two new sets of leveling gear. the gear design is lazy allagan looks similar. onion and ballad pretty much are carbon copies.
well played good sir well played :3
What annoys me personally as a Miqo'te is seeing my tail clip through nearly all my armor when I run. This didn't happen in 1.0 and I find it so ugly that when they finally add an additional means of obtaining fantasia I plan to go midlander.
if SE did that you would have a lot of people mad they cant run the game on there pentium 4. reason they made robotic animations vs version 1's realistic.
To be fair we had the same clipping issues from the start of 1.0 (I remember the haubergeon and sollerets combination in particular) and the way to fix it is still the same: turn off the physics and it won't clip anymore. And the equip reforming thing as far as i remember was used to modify the single piece according to the other things equipped (sleeves + gloves, pants + boots) and it should still be in place... or at least we get the same result with whatever they're using.
What I find annoying is when design choices are made ignoring the obvious clipping... take WHM artifact for instance, you know that job is gonna have either a staff or a shield on its back, then why would you add that huge hood that's clipping with every weapon a WHM can wear? .-.
Why people keep bringing this up? You don't need to go that far back, you just need a cheap one. Anyway... Not a huge reason though, they went overboard, this runs on anything. My five years old pc runs this on high with good fps. Like 60 stable for the most part. Anyway...
Now you're just being funny.... I guess you're misunderstanding what a cheap computer is. And this game requires about 4gb of ram (taking into account the OS)... You'll have just about 500mb spare or a bit less maybe.
Video cards and processors are what would hinder the game potential more than ram. Wow this is just not worth arguing.
Also on a side note, belts not being displayed don't have anything to do with this. Not directly anyway, maybe they did remove em to avoid further clipping but still, and in wow belts are whatever, they don't even have shape they are just a pasted skin on top of your armor.
And yes, they should have more options where you can disable the advanced graphic engines and such. But well, they won't add this, not any time soon anyway. Doubt the PS4 and Dx11 is it? version is bringing this.
Thank you!
The clipping in this game is awful and the cause is they just don't want to take the time to fix it or design carefully in the first place. Nothing more complicated than that.

The shield clipping through my AF BLM hat bugged me a lot. I was really happy when I got a better shield that was also small enough not to clip.
There's a lot of stuff that clips in this game and it looks really sloppy. Some off the top of my head:
1. When I unsheathe my Ullikummi on Carpenter it magically teleports from my back to my waist because they treat it like it's just another saw
2. When I unsheathe a staff on WHM instead of making my character grab it backhand and shifting his arm to bring it forward, he instead grabs it backhand and the staff phases through my arm to end up at the front
3. Artemis Bow constantly clips through my shirt on BRD
4. Lots of weapons clip through a hat when sheathed (as seen above)
The last two points really irk me because while I understand limited clipping when stuff is animating or maybe a little bit of clipping into edges, weapons and armor clipping through each other while you stand still is just...lazy. Even in XI they bothered to have a program that stuck every piece of armor on a model so they could make sure stuff clipped as little as possible. Here it just feels like they don't care that much at all. I imagine i'd be even more annoyed if I played Miqote since the tail probably clips through everything as well.
Here you can see how a Robe while running looked in 1.0

edit: a morbol who can one-shout you in a lvl 20 leve area, oh how i miss the old times ^^
This is why people got irritated when the devs would come in the forums in beta and say they wouldn't do this or that because it'd cause clipping issues.
And then you see they're *all over the place.* :p
-_- I really wish they would fix the clipping through mounts for all armors.
Some armor, namely robes, tend to look downright horrible while others one can deal with since it's not so obvious.
<_< I miss the running from 1.0... it was much more fluid.... and yes... D= dat robe!!
>_< Come on SE, add some finishing touches to the game! Remove/fix the clipping already!!
