So, no Immunity Frame for us confirmed. The only tweak our class really need is being denied. How many of you are angry because of this? how many of you think we should have the Immunity Frame in jumps?

We should have airborne immunity to attacks, thats the trademark that all dragoons share through the history of FF.

Not having complete jump skills for us, is like having black mages without black magic.

Yeah because because the ability to avoid any major boss mechanic by using a jump ability wouldn't break the class in the slightest... right?

Its confirmed that they are going to make jumps more usable including a faster animation. Invulnerability frames wouldnt work very well anyhow, given the current latency.
A faster animation is way better.

We will be making adjustments to improve Jump’s usability. (Including a reduction of the animation time). We understand there have been a lot of requests asking to make characters invulnerable while using Jump, but there is a possibility this would cause dragoon to become the only choice for DPS, so we will not be making adjustments for this.

It was shot down. Just means we'll have to get better and prove that it's not needed. Will mistakes occur? Yes. But we're Dragoons. We will always adapt.

I think anyone here is smart enough to understand that of course, there will be exeptions, like primals ultimates, or bosses hard attack mechanics.

The idea of the immunity frame is to avoid not really strong attacks since that would be gamebreaking, but to avoid most of them. For example, you should`t be able of evade "plumes" with jump, but you should be perfectly able to avoid titan`s landslide or ifrit`s charge.

Another example, you should be able to avoid "purple lines" on demon wall with a jump, but not repel.

There are lot of situations, but for many cases, Dragoons just for the sake of being Dragoons, should have the immunity frame.

PS: Excuse my inmunity, english is not my primary language, immunity is very similar to inmunidad which is the spanish word for it.

People complaining about bards not affected by dodge mechanics still doing dps, but want immunity for Jump(which is understandable since that's how it works in the FF series) but this is just having double standards

It will feel odd being hit by an earthquake/stomp move whilst in the air...

But this is the right decision because you just KNOW that there would be some elitists that would insist the only way to do things is with Dragoon's Jump and we'd be the new Bard.

Everyone would moan and complain and we'd get nerfed.

Why should you be able to dodge an insta-kill mechanic, but can't dodge one that you can easily live from?

They're right though, i-frame skills would be broken and would make the game too easy for dragoons. Games like TERA were designed around i-frames but in FF pretty much everything is avoidable if you have the reflexes (and the internet connection) to do it.

Personally I find dodging stuff quite fun and I expected no less from playing a melee class; I just want some compensation for the loss of dps and the risks I am taking while doing it. If they say they will address the imbalance between ranged vs melee then I am happy :)

Besides if jump would have an immunity cooldown from all attacks it would need something like a 300 second recast timer to balance it out at the very least .

Theyd also need to make it so instawipe boss attacks can still damage during jump. Then itd be a fair skill

Jump is currently too frequent for that to be even remotely balanced i think and really jump like abilities have been made too much a staple of XIV Dragoon for it to be entirely traditional. Maybe SE will hand out a super jump like ability later but that's probbably all we can hope for on this kind of line.

Because plumes are an upward explosion (that reach god knows how high) while landslide is an 100% ground attack. Like seriusly, this is all about things that travel by ground hiting things that are 20 meters in the air.

I personally do not see at all how they came a conclusion that DRG would be the only choice for DPS if this were to happen. It's not like the Jumps are at all impressive. They are just fluff. The real damage comes from a chain that requires positional situations, of which on some fights DRG can't even get at all (i.e., demon wall) and have to sit and spam 3 abilities to just do SOMETHING. The positional situations are the issue with DRG, not the Jumps (my opinion).

I want immunity frames for dragoons and also they should suffer from fall damage from jumping so dang high. I can barely hop down a cliff without almost dying and here they are jumping skyscrapers.

Anyways no to immunity frames, hard to balance it when the game isn't designed for it. Like others before me have said it is real easy to break some mechanics with immunity. Not to mention the effects that immunity frames might have on pvp.

All they'd need to do to make me happy is fix it so the jumps don't root you to the ground and let you control where you land.

If any of them actually need invincibility frames its Elusive jump, its easily the most dangerous to use which is odd considering its supposed to be an escape. Archer's repelling shot has the same problem.

I personally dont see an issue either because its not like it would be easier to jump than to just move out of the AOE, however as i said, a faster animation is a much better solution. Jumps currently are filler attacks to use between your attacks but with them being so slow they clip a bit of the next GCD, so when you make the animation faster its pretty much a dps increase.
Also its not bad that people have to be careful with jumps, makes it a bit more interesting.

They could make a buff, called high-jump or soar or something along that line with a long cooldown that compliments a dragoon's next jump ability making him immune to damage.. ya know make it so one of their jumps once in a while actually be like the ones in the FF series :P

Elusive Jump would be the only jump that they should look into giving some i-frames, damage absorption, or increased defense during it's duration honestly. It would be no more broken than a BLM's Manawall. It does no damage, moves you out of range so you're not doing any damage, and it has a fairly long cooldown. The whole point of the skill is to dodge to safety but it's a pointless skill to use due to lag and how the server doesn't actually read your location properly when you use it (main reason why you'll still get hit by an AoE you Elusive Jump away from). All the other jumps have do damage so they should keep the risk of getting damage taken when you use them.

Elusive jump is not useless - it cuts your enmity in half. I would have to tank every second boss on my DF runs if it wasnt for that skill :D

I'm in agreement that immunity frames would be exploitable and isn't the fix the class needs. Jumps as they stand are a bit of a gamble unless you are 110% familiar with the boss mechanics and can time when the AoE attacks are going to be cast before they're cast.

What would be nice is if they made the gamble pay off... i.e up the damage caused by the jumps and change the way the positioning works. I'd like elusive jump to track and update my location as I move through the air rather than only updating my location once I've landed. Right now it's just a threat dump and not a reliable movement utility, also the long cooldown period makes it pretty lackluster.

Jump can be pretty powerful if you know how and when to use, like wall at AK, when he cast repel, use the jump right before the wall finish it... when wall finishes casting repel, you'll be on air during Jump, and you'll land right in the wall after repel... you'll be repeled, but jump makes you end it where you started, so you'll be teleported to the walls position, EVEN IF YOU FALL...
During ifrit's repel is the same, but since it's Insta cast it's very hard to time it, but when it happens you'll save a lot of time to go back...

I don't really give a shit. The slightly faster animation on Jump is all Dragoons really need. The immunity frame is the 'asking price' in a bargain. A faster Jump animation is a good buff.

Looks like people reads what they like to ready and not what is written. /sigh

Jumps need a Immunity Frame cause if not, they are not the skill it should be. People who has been "Jumping" in all FF titles need this, for the most important reason of all: "Historical Accuracy". It`s really that simple.
Now what should be avoidable with that immunity frame has to be carefully planed. Of course we don`t want to end up with another broken class that makes all other DPSs "out of the high-end".

Jump skill will be forever incomplete as long as the get hit in mid air by things like normal attacks or 100% ground traveling attacks.

Oh, and we still need Lancet to drain HP/MP/TP.
