Story Mode Titan.

How did you get passed him?

I've been trying since level 34, doesn't work.

I'm level 50 now.. And since 34, every 2 levels I've tried it for a few good hours to beat him using Duty Finder.

At this point, I think it can't be done.

Anyways.. Now I'm 50... And I can't really do anything.

I've tried asking my FC, but they don't talk.. So.. Nothing there. I asked in chat a few times and everyone wanted tens of thousands to help me.. I don't even got a single ten thousand.. Let alone multiple..

So.. Yeah. I just wanted to say it.

I'mma go cry like a b**** now.

What sort of difficulties are you having with story mode Titan? Does your group wipe constantly? Trolls? Are you having difficulties dodging? Do you keep falling off? Make sure you stay inside the red circle when he jumps. Make sure the DPS (includes you) kill the heart ASAP and break people out of the rock. Watch a few videos/read some guides. Story mode Titan isn't too bad...Wait until you start doing HM primals.

It's mainly my groups.
It's either "lag" or " I thought I could take it" or "Just listen to me, I've done this before!"
And we all die a billion times.

If it was me, i could understand, no room to really complain. But it's not me... It's them. And I just want it doooone.

Well, I have trouble answering this because I played healer. But as such, I think your biggest problem is going to be as follows: finding a DF group they can avoid AOE, and a healer who can keep up with the damage. That is basically it.

General rules in no particular order (that you probably already know by now after having done it so many times):

1) During the big stomp attack avoid the yellow if possible, and stay out of the red entirely.
2) keep moving during landslide phase, it is easier to be aware and get out of the way
3) If you are unsure if you are able to avoid landslide because of lag, run the middle. Even if you get hit you are less likely to get thrown off the edge.
4) When the heart appears it must be taken out immediately. This is from my perspective where the healer comes in. If you lose even one DPS, good luck taking it out in time. When I first tried we failed 6 times before the group quit, mostly because I wasn't moving enough and kept getting thrown off, or I was moving but not healing enough so we lost a DPS.
5) whoever gets stoned needs to shout in chat like "ME!" and everyone else needs to get them out. But watch out as a landslide always comes right after, so if everybody rushes in to quick to help, it is a guaranteed wipe.

That is it from my perspective. It took me three tries. First group quit after 6 wipes.
Second group we kept wiping mostly because of lag on my end causing me to miss landslide, with 10 minutes left, almost thought we had him. And I got 90K disconnected... Third try it took us about 4 wipes, but we did it. Anyway. Good luck.

If you keep getting the lag complaint: believe it. That second try I would see people stand in landslide. Move out 2 seconds AFTER and not have a problem. I would move the moment it appeared and it would still hit me. Sometimes the lag on titan is worse than any other fight. It really shows who has lag and who doesn't, because while most fights you barely notice the lag much, or it isn't critical, titan if you miss even one landslide, the entire team wipes.

Just started this quest, having trouble finding a group that has their movement down. I was in a group that had it to its last hp and we got wiped It was painful!

Yeah, I don't bash people, if they're having lag issues I usually tell them "I understand"

I try to be as helpful as possible, say things that I know.. But... You know..

Oh well. I'll just keep spamming DF till I get it :)

I'm a level 48 PLD. I am with you. Every few levels I have tried to beat it. Some parties will fight to the end with you, others bail midway. Last group I was with were a fun bunch, but my heals could not avoid the landslide. I learned a lot. I also found out if I heal while falling, I still die when I hit bottom... Smile

Anyway, my story is stuck because I am reliant upon three other people and myself to dodge. Yes, I've ridden the landslide myself.

Oh and thanks to all of you out there that deemed it necessary to post your accomplishment and claim how easy it is. You really added to the conversation. We know it is easier than HM. We know the challenges grow. You added absolutely nothing to the OP's request and only made some of us feel worse.

Ask your LS/FC/friends who have already finished it to help you out? Chances are you know a ton of people who have beaten it. Otherwise give a shout in a main city explaining you're having trouble with it and ask for help with one clear.

I did one shout in Mor Dhona to fill out a LS party for someone clearing Ifrit Hardmode because DF wasn't giving us much luck. Filled it up with one or two shouts with nice people.

Give up and start levelling your crafting and gathering classes.

For those who think this is easy, I think it is a bit of perspective. If you do it with Duty Finder, most people are first timers. So you run with a random group, and chances are you never are running with a single person who has won yet. That makes a huge difference. Other dungeons up to that point are much much more forgiving, and losing one of the team is rarely fatal, and further people who have won them before re-run on a regular basis for loot.

Titan story is actually rarely re-run after being beaten, at least not via DF that I have found, because there is no incentive. So there isn't an expert guiding people through or helping carry the weight, instead you get those have previously failed trying to guide the rest of the party through as much they can without having won it themselves. So no, it isn't easy for most people using the DF. It is quite hard because even if you yourself have it down after many failures, you still have to depend on other people. Who may or may not have tried before, and may or may not have it down. It is the group, not the fight itself, that makes it so challenging. Combined with lag problems that may never have been an issue before, you have a sort of worst case test for new players. It is the first real barrier to end game I think, and a much bigger one than even most of the things that follow it.

You were lucky, and I don't think you fully realize it. I have gone back and re-run it multiple times now for practice and I hear the same thing every time "this is my Xth try I really hope I can done with this soon". Dismissing the experiences of others because you had better ones isn't exactly statistical evidence. You don't have any good basis of evidence, and so your easy win is great for you, it really is, but it isn't helpful to the many people out there stuck at this one fight due to the randomness that is duty finder, and the lack of experienced people willing to re-run it to help them out.

Yes a lot of these people have extreme lag. Me included. I know for some reason people like to dismiss this, but it is happening. I am learning to cope with the lag. But. As I said. You seem to be dismissing that this is the first time for people. If you get queued up every time, with new people every time, and everybody keeps failing, sure maybe second time through you have it down. But with DF, second time through you are probably with a different group. Chances are good they are also new, or don't have it down. And generally speaking you need the whole group to win.

The odds are not in your favour of being grouped with 3 others who have it down. The only way it would be, is if people re-ran the story mode primals as much as they do dungeons. So the odds are against you getting a group that has it down. Which means the odds are are against you winning unless you keep re-running a large number of times. It isn't about your individual skill. it is about the rest of the group. This is why I say barrier to end game. End game you are supposed to have a good group together that can learn as they go, and rework until they get it down. DF you keep getting reset back to zero: new group. new group. New group.

I like duty finder. I really really do, and I will use it 99% of the time. But this is the reason some people disparage it so much. Because in some cases it causes content to be a lot harder than it might otherwise be with a pre-formed group who could go in, wipe many times the first time, and even fail, but then on the second go around win because they all together figured it out.

If anything I would say Titan is what should be pushing most people towards forming groups on their own server, who can run it again. Even if it is a one off group, it is more reliable than DF because you can re-queue together again after failing until you win.

absolutely agreed on the whole 'in titan you notice the lag'

I got hit by a landslide in a few fights where the bar was maybe 1/3rd in (meaning 2/3rd where still left before it went off), I was miles away, and got hit. I developed the habit of just standing close to the middle to at least manage to stay on the plattform, but that still costs a lot of health.

this is one of the fights where it's super frustrating when you know that you didn't do a mistake and the game still decides you're going to look like a noob. and the worst thing? people will yell at you to not get hit by the slide.

I too have done it a few times now, and I noticed a few tricks that make the fight a lot easier, but in general what would make it the easiest is just the problems people fight with in general. and it does NOT help when people say that Titan Story Mode is 'easy'. well we all know this. I absolutely agree. it IS easy. unless you are not able to avoid shit because the game itself doesn't want you to.

we went with 2x whm, war and smn and finished it. i nuked as whm during heart phase lol.

that said, landslide (straight line punch) is usually the main problem, and latency can be a bitch.

my best advise is: stay behind Titan as close as possible the the turning radius is smaller when landslide procs, and be on the constant move to combat server latency.

everything else is a matter of basic mechanics, and after experiencing it at least (even with wipes) everyone should be fine.

Latency is a realllly huge issue.
I cleared it with zero problems on the jp legacy server I started on , but had significant trouble when I rerolled on an NA server( to avoid being on a legacy so I can transfer where I want).

I don't understand, is his landslide different in 4-man than in 8-man? Is it laggier?

Because to get hit by titan's HM landslide you almost have to do it on purpose, or have extreme lag.

Maybe I'm wrong but its hard to believe there are a ton of new people still buying the game everyday. The first couple of weeks after release was literally a Zerg rush and now that the rush is over I imagine lower level dungeons / primal fights being somewhat ghost townish. A good portion of the community have already completed their storylines and will never do lower level storyline dungeons again and most level 50 people leveling other classes will probably just Fate grind.

I recently started leveling other DoW classes and have tried to do a few Sastashas/Tam Taras/Copperbells just to complete my Foestriker set and it takes forever via Duty Finder. And even when I do get in, often times experienced players will just leave because a tank doesn't know what to do or a DPS starts nuking everything without waiting for the tank or the healer overcures or this or that or whatever. It takes 1-2 min to explain roles and hate to people and once they understand they go "OHH!!" Not everyone has MMO experience.

Must be frustrating to be a new player now because there is less traffic in lower dungeons / primals.

My advice.. leave your current free company. They sound like d-bags. Get in to a new, more friendly one. My free company are a great bunch. We're always happy to help each other out with anything.

This. I had so much trouble avoiding the landslide, even when I knew it was coming because of the stomp. The only way I could do it in the end was to run towards Titan the moment he finished his stomp. Still got hit a few times, but managed to just cling on to the edge of the platform haha :D

Whether it's easy for you or not, responses like this help no one.

Try shouting on your server for some people. Should get at least one person willing to help out, if not a person who has done it, then at least one or two that will stick it out with you even if you wipe. When I did it my first try with all new people, we wiped probably 15 times, went through two dd players that had to drop because of w/e. Just ran it yesterday for two of my fellow FC members and nailed it second try. Just have to find the group that works for you. And I agree with another poster, FC member that refuse to help you out is kinda crappy :T

I can attest to the lag issues in titan, both story mode and hard mode. For some reason, this fight just lags like hell. I can usually get out of the way on most other dungeons and fights, but Titan is an unforgiving bitch of a fight. Some people don't have any problems, but holy crap I do. I live in the middle of nowhere, and we don't even have comcast out here. I have to make due with a small local company for internet and it isn't the most reliable or fast connection out there. I was finally able to beat the fight after leveling up Archer. That way I could be constantly moving and still doing just as much damage. I found that if you constantly move you have less chance of being hit, and more chance of being able to dodge when you see a landslide on its way. Also, are your DDs using their Limit Break? Should save the first one for the heart, but afterward, spam it if you've got it, get that sucker dead ASAP. Also, before the fight begins, make sure everyone know what to do. I remember my first time, went in with 3 other people on their first time, and boy did it get messy. Even one person not knowing that the red around the edge means you fall to your death and you basically have to wipe and start over.

One tip I read somewhere is if you use a skill or cast something (even if you interrupt it) the instant you move outside of an AOE or landslide, it updates your position on the server. If you don't use a skill or cast something, there's a 0.3 second position delay so you may still get hit even if you move outside the area.

Story mode titan is "easy" but only if you don't get hit with lag and have a good group. I wiped so so many times on him, mostly due to lag and flying off the platform. Only time we beat him was a day where i had no lag at all, our two dps got one shotted after the heart phase though, so the tank and i had to wittle down the remaining 25% of his hp, was a bit nerve wrecking whenever i got caught in a rock and the tank fought to get me out, having my cures ready for the moment i got free.

I'm dreading HM titan, mostly cause of the lag fest and also people's gear requirements...

I was told to do this during a brayflox run for a friend when we were getting s0'd and I kept eating the breath attack, didn't seem to work. Then again maybe i just wasn't quick enough.

Something that might help is to make sure people watch Titan instead of only looking out for the landslide marks on the floor. He very visibly turns around before the marks appear which gives you a moment to know that the landslides are coming and maybe give you enough time to start strafing and get out of it if you are lagging. Also, you know someone is getting jailed because he will clap his hands.

That was my advice when tanking. I have solid hate so if you see Titan start to turn it's Landslide, move.
Also on the Gaol, as he claps a yellow circle appears under the target so you already know who's getting hit with it.

I've found making friends with Scholars helps. They're really good at keeping up with the healing from the AoEs. Other than that, as mentioned before, stay away from the middle (some hits are unavoidable anyway and taking damage is better than getting thrown off the edge.) And kill the heart IMMEDIATELY.

I had pretty good luck with Titan, but there are other story quests that it took me MANY tries to get through, so I feel your pain. Good luck out there!

i suggest trying to find a FC that is more friendly and helpful then your current one try to find a social one because they usually have a bunch of ppl willing to spare some time to help with these hard story mode fights i know i would be more then willing and have helped a few ppl through titan

sigh... i completed this as 3/4 ppl's as paladin , in party was also SNM and BLM and Archer who got by 1st landsline that Titan done . But we had Titan hard experience so...

I'm sorry you are having trouble with this. I would help if I were on your server but I'm not. I won't say we finished it in 2 goes because we didn't. It took 20 and yes we counted. We were a group of 3 and picked up our healer through DF. We went through 3 healers in the end, one healer just left and another left due to their own lag issues which were pretty bad I have to say. We'd not read any mechanics beforehand so we learned as we went and tweaked things after each failure until we got it. I think the fact that 3 of 4 of us were on mumble helped a bit so if you can do it with at least a partial premade that might be something to try. It actually is a pretty brilliant fight though lag is an enemy for sure and it is not a very forgiving fight as far as mechanics go. Basically there is a lot of good advice in this thread so I won't repeat it but I really hope you manage in the end.

It's too bad you're not on Balmung, I'd help you clear it w/ my buds.

There are a lot of guides out there, though since it sounds like you're not getting creamed yourself I don't know if it would be much help. Here's one I put up on my FC site just after early access, though I'm sure theres much more in-depth and accurate guides that can be found on youtube and elsewhere.

I'd like to add, if your FC doesn't talk and you don't feel any support from them for these types of things, change your FC. There are tons of good FCs and you are on the right track being in one. I gurantee there are better ones on your server who would be happy to help.

I cleared this with a FC friend, him on sch and me on war, while the two dps died from landslide, the second one dieing just at the end of the heart phase. Managed to duo the 50% remaining. If OP is not a troll... Well, get some better friends, and get better. Also don't stick in a group when it is obvious they won't make it, it is necessary to let people learn, but if they always eat landslide, what's the point ? Move on and try again with another group.

I think this is a troll post, there is no way you have done this for hours and not beat it. My god what are you going to do when you get to Garuda??? If this is not a troll this is a sad state of the player base today. I DF'ed it weeks ago, none of us had been there before and we figured it out and finished it 3 tries. I don't even know what to say if people are having trouble at SM primals. People better hurry up and beat the HM's before these people get to HM's, this game is gonna be nerfed to oblivion.

just need to avoid his landslide move. if you have the latency issue then you can try to running around.
