Please Provide Englsh TRANSLATION For The Japanese

The English localization of this game jeopardizes the integrity of the game and it gets worse the more Japanese I learn.

Having voiced dialogue be so divergent or straight up wrong in comparison to the Japanese is not localization.

If I am not playing in the English dub, I should not get the subtitles for the English dub. It should be subtitles for the actual Japanese.

I also have to assume the rest of the game's text also takes additional liberties for no reason.

I really hope the new person in charge considers some changes.

My main beef is the naming scheme of spells not using the proper -aga, -aja, etc, suffixes.

This is a 4th wall break - this was, from what I was told, an actual IRL vote done by the english localization team. This is why german & japanese go by the -ra/-ga/-ja (-ka in german) convention), french opted for prefixes (Extra, Mega, Giga) and english went with numerical suffixes.

On that matter - give us Cure IV/Curaja, when? I mean in the Scholar quest you even see something cast Cure V, for god's sake.

This is even worse, because what in the world does the book actually say in Japanese, then? Certainly none of that nonsense.

The problem with the numerals is that they make no sense. The best way to have localized them if they were going to change them would have been to adopt XI's naming. Fire 3 would be fire 2 to denote it is the next tier of single target spell. Fire 2 would be Fira. High Fire 2 would be Firaga to denote the next tier of AoE.

It is very informative. Localization involves much more than simply matching every Japanese word to English.

This is the sometimes annoying difference between "Localisation" and "Translation", though I do argue that where the Japanese use English words, like "Main Terminal" there is absolutely NO reason to change it in English to "Meso Terminal".

Its not informative. Its almost like I purposely differentiated localization from translation.

It's gone beyond localization. They've decided that the EN version of the game has its own identity that they've created separate from the JP.
Not everything needs to be changed or adapted.
There's even times in encounters where a boss will say an ability in English in the Japanese, and the EN version of the game changes the name of it anyways.

This has continued to get worse in videogames and anime over the last decade or so.

Several bosses do this as well with their voiced lines and its infuriating.

Now I am curious if the world maps are labeled in Japanese or Eorzean/Vrantian/Proto-Alphabet in Japan. If they are the same throughout, "Meso Terminal" is what it says in the Proto-Alphabet, in which case it's the Japanese that was 'translated' incorrectly. Possibly due to general unfamiliarity with Greek, or that 'meso' has a meaning in Japanese that would interfere with understanding.

On-topic, I would be interested in an English translation vs a localization. Both, maybe. Mostly I like the localization, but there's some spots where, without having any idea what the original Japanese said, I know that it couldn't have possibly been what it was in localized English, so it would satisfy my curiosity.
