Hi,
As an AST/DRK/MCH playing with a controller, I often have to place ground marker. While the current system is fine when we have to place something close (I can easily weave these marker, a bit of clipping with AST sometime) it is however much harder to place these at max distance.
The reason is simple, if I accidently put the marker too far it turns purple, I have to toy with the camera/movement and welp, it's not always easy.
Could it be possible to add an option (something you check in the character options) where the ground marker cannot go further than the maximum range.
By that I mean, if the skill range is 25yalms, I cannot move the marker any further.
This would be very handy as anytime I would have to place something far, I could just make it go "far" without failure (like, I don't have to back the marker because it turned purple)

The ground target marker should be "leashed" to your character so that it can't go farther than max range even if you move your mouse out of range. -

Yes, I'm in favor of anything that makes ground markers simpler, quicker, and more intuitive to place correctly, and this sounds like it could help quite a bit.

You'll either cast the ability at your target without the ground target, or you'll get the ground target as a fall back if you don't have a target.
Yes ground targets are a pain with gamepad. -

My issue is also when I have no target, you don't always want to place the star under the boss (in my case since I mostly play AST)
A good example would be OS11 where we had to adjust our position during the diffuse canon wave because I just couldn't place the star quickly enough due to the distance issue (me struggling to put it at the right distance because it would either be too close from the center of the arena or simply outside of it if I'd hold the stick 0.2s too long). This wasn't a big issue because I'm with a static, but this could have been a real pain in PF.

Also, while it might not be as prevalent with mouse user, on the controller, the further your marker is, the faster it goes, if can very easily weave a well placed Star in melee to be exactly where i want it to be, but the further I have to place it the harder it becomes because every fraction of a second I hold the stick the marker goes several yalms away (to the point it can leave the arena in 0.3-4s)
This proved to be extremely annoying on boss like Mygdragosa where I actually moved around with the marker in front on me to drop it once I reached the destination. (For ArkMorn)
Same for kefka after the second graven image, while I had much more time, being able to limit the placement to the max distance would have been of great help instead of me doing 4-5 back and forth trying to pinpoint the position while dodging stuff. (At least I wasn't losing uptime at this time)
