[dev1237] Why take skill out of crafting?

As mentioned if you use NQ items and lets say you somehow muster up 1000 Quality, you are limited to 10% chance of HQ...

Or you use HQ items.. spam standard and you are guaranteed 50% chance of HQ?
How does this make any sense?

What I propose is to simplify the situation... Based on the Ending Quality.. regardless of Type of items used, will result in your chance of HQ.

So if all HQ materials are used and you start with 500 quality, if you lose quality due to unstables etc.. your % of HQ can be reduced.. also if you make it to 1000 quality.. you are 100% guaranteed of a HQ.

Based on 0-1000 quality = 0-100% HQ chance, no matter what items are used.. should be the % of HQ.

So if a crafter has mad skillz and can get all NQ items up to 500 quality.. they deserve a 50% chance at HQ. Not 5% because of the ingredients.

Can we please get a DEV Response on exactly how this will work... the examples you give only a person can "assume" that its going to work a certain way.

1) We cant assume that we can gain 300-600 quality on every synth.
2) We cant assume that based on ending quality whether using NQ or HQ ingredients would result in the same HQ percentages based on the example given.

i dont think you completely read it all

the starting quality is what is still affected by all this

the difference is now you will see a % in which you will have a chance to get hq from it


normal only was able to get upwards of 10% even now

hq had higher rates(but not much higher)



so the main difference i am seeing is hq mats will mean a whole lot more after the patch



your not looking at skill, you are looking at someone with alot of abilities getting "lucky" on not failing carefuls as they synth

AuctionGirl, my dear, you failed at fully understanding the revamp. What defines your HQ chance? Your final Quality. They use a non-linear scale of chance of HQ using numbers from 1~1000 to determine chance of HQ (which means, for example, 500 gives you 10%, 1000 gives 100%. Non-linear, weighted towards the end of the spectrum. Those numbers in the parenthesis were pure example drawn out of my... secret number stash)

If you utilize HQ materials, you gain a bonus to starting Quality, if using all HQ means your bonus Quality is 500 if i'm not misremembering what I read, mixing NQ and HQ gives a value between 0~500.

The projected numbers are so that, using your best crafter gear and the best of your abilities, you get up to +600 Quality if memory serves me well.

In the end: If you somehow can scrounge up 1000 Quality from all NQ materials, gods you deserve that High Quality item and you will get it

Yes! I don't want crafting to be a tedious task everyone has to do once in awhile. It should be treated like a profession and those with skills are highly regarded and the masses look for there help.

You are not understanding... Right now I can take a level 1 item since I'm level 50.. and spam careful/clean slate etc.. get normal items over 300 quality.. and get HQ more than 50% of the time. This is based on skill.

In this patch if you start a level 1 synth with nq items.. and you get it to 1000 quality, you are only given 10% chance. Your skill over the level means nothing. Its based solely on the materials you use.

They took crafting skill out of the game, and its now on who can farm/buy the most hq items to start your synths. This isnt an issue for me, but I'm trying to stand-up for those who just dont understand how this is making the crafting system that much more pointless.

You are lolling for the wrong reasons.. skill = Level 50.. not skills using the skills. But it removes the level required basically. Your level vs the synth level should affect hq %'s not just materials used.

THAT is where I said you are not understanding. If you start a L1 synth with NQ items and get it to 1000 quality, you are in fact given a 100% chance of HQ, since HQ chance is based on the final Quality of the item (or at least that is what I understand from the post, I could be wrong).

However, their projected numbers are so that if you, a L50 crafter, starts an L1 craft with NQ items, you will not be able to reach more than, like, 500 Quality, which gives you a 10% chance. I mean, that's what I got out of the post, as well, I COULD be wrong here too.
