One small change to Red Mage

I recently did The Void Ark on Red Mage, where I noticed during the second boss (Irminsul and Sawtooth), that Contre Sixte and Fleche deals ranged physical damage. It is really annoying when you attack Sawtooth (nullifies ranged physical damage) with those actions, just to see they deal 0 damage on him. It is too annoying that it forces you to switch target to Irminsul just for those two attack.

This happens awell in The Whorleather Extreme, where ranged magic dps attacks the head, oh wait... the head reflects ranged physical damage... It is a problem too in T4 and maybe others...

These two actions should be changed to ranged magical damage.

This isn't because there's a rare situation where these two action are inefficient that their damage type should be changed.

They are good like this and offer a better syngery with classes like Monk who sadly only buff physical damage (even if it's only a slight increase), or even Drg and their piercing debuff. Piercing is a physical debuff.
As a caster, you never profit of those. Rdm has that chance of being hybrid. Fleche and Contre Sixte being physical isn't a problem at all and I like the fact that we have those two skill being physical because of what i mentionned above.

Well monk doesn't affect it, because brotherhood only affects physical weapon skills, such as UNENCHANTED Redoublement.

Dragoons and other RDMs do affect them. I think it's a quirky little thing they did that's interesting. It's common to see a physical class gain magical abilities/skills, like holy spirit, dragonfire dive, raiton, but only RDM atm has physical abilities as a magical class. [Ifrit and titan, may be physical as of 4.0, but I'm not sure.]

It's unfortunate, but in cases like this you can still use your abilities if you weave them correctly. In fact, you have an advantage over the other casters as you can continue to dps physical only mobs, if only slightly. :]

I wasn't talking about helping monk opening his chakra with weaponskill, but the increase of the skill itself.

But in any case.
It's in Red Mage's root to be hybrid and I like that little something where those two skill are physical and benefit from melee buff.

The argument that RDM is supposed to be a hybrid is a flawed one when it's clearly in the DoM caster dps role in XIV. Everything except the unenchanted weaponskills and these oGCDs deals magic damage (the former of which are that way as a punishment for not paying attention to your mana bars), so it should be consistent. It's not even a major buff. NIN had the same issue, too. There's no reason this can't be fixed either.

Red mage is fine. Its a wonderful class, that needs no changes at this tier.

Except that it's not a problem, what do you to want fix.

I can see where the OP is coming from. Back when Dark Passenger was actually viable to spend MP on, I'd get mildly annoyed in Leviathan Ex when I end up on the end with magic reflection.

I dunno whether that means it should be changed to magic damage... just that it is enough of an irritation to be worth a look.

So then Embolden has no effect on those instants? Interesting. I didn't realize that.
