Is a less humanoid race impossible?

I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before but I just got back from a long hiatus and would like some input.

I like the Au Ra. As a matter of fact I changed to an Au Ra immediatly on release on another character, but to be honest I was hoping for something a little less...human?

I'm a big fan of the more monstrous races of Final Fantasy. I don't mean like the Viera but more like the Bangaa. With how gear and body shapes work (Where did the butts go?) is it impossible to ever see a less humanoid race in any future expansions? :(

I'd be the first to switch to amaljaa given the chance. Unfortunately, we can only be humes or humes with kitty, bunny, dragon accessories.

I understand that this is to make it easier to make costumes for everyone, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it.

Unless the team gets more people and resources to make new races AND redesign gear to accommodate them, keep dreaming.

Are you saying the FFXIV team is understaffed?

I heard some designer staff focus on FFXV

Well Bangaa for instant aren't possible because they're from Ivalice - totally different world but I don't think you'd ever see non humanoid races i.e. best tribes beccause they'd have to rework literally every piece of equipment and even the most determined company wouldn't do that

From what I heard on and off, yes, in the sense of "We'd like to do more if we had more people" sort of thing. Though last I read they said they brought in a few guys so who knows?

I never got that argument. Aren't these races the same from 11? What about the hundreds of cameos of enemies, allies and such that appear in FFXIV?

The difference between the enemies and allies and general NPCs that appear is with non humanoid versions you don't have to make every gearset you release fit them. The more different the playable models are the more work and time it takes to adapt new pieces of gear to fit them. If your talking about major physical differences it can take as much time as making a new piece of gear from scratch, including in the concept stage. Non humanoid NPCs have pretty limited gearsets. Most Amalj'aa or Goblins you see will look mostly the same.

Its not saying its impossible but the time it takes to modify the armour that much means they either need more people working on it, we get less new gear models over all or it takes longer to release content. The second two options are going to be very unpopular among most of the playerbase. That means until their team grows to a larger size its unlikely to happen. As of now they pretty much squeeze as much work out of the existing team as they can.

Well wouldn't the only thing that really needs to be modified is like headgear and maybe footwear? A lot of these races have humanoid torsos, arms, etc.
