Had the most unbelievable Cutter's Cry group ever. It has been a long time since I had this kind of group.
Even though I selected only ONE language setting in the contents finder, I somehow got paired up with people who didn't understand said language. (Can't say which languages because rules.)
I don't know why they would queue up for a language they can't understand. Boggles the mind. ANYWAY...
Tank was the worst. Didn't pick up adds, ever. Kept going /afk for about 1 minute. Not really long enough to warrant a kick, but frequently enough that it was really taking forever to finish the dungeon.
When one mob would die, the tank wouldn't switch to the other mob. Just stand there.
I tried /poke ing him to make him move, but very slow response.
Tank made no attempt to dodge any gimmicks. Hit by everything.
Whenever the tank received an item, he would stop to desynthesize it. Who does this in the middle of a dungeon? I've never seen such an action!
Other DPS were very low damage output. First boss took forever. Princess spawned minions twice. All came at me. Tank has no response at all.
DPS tried to help, but the damage output was so low things were taking forever to die.
DPS continually got hit by the sand bursts and whatnot.
Final boss all 3 were getting hit by everything. Paralysis, Heavy, Esuna Esuna Esuna!
Tank is hit by EVERY single attack. One DPS has level 1 accessories, so dies instantly. Instead of waiting for Raise, returns to the beginning and tries to run back. Dies on the way.
Other DPS almost died several times from being hit by gimmicks. I used Shroud of Saints twice and still almost ran out of MP (had about 300 left at the end of the fight).
I just didn't know what to say at the end. So I just /shrug ed and left. I still got comms though so I guess they at least appreciated SOMEONE was doing their job. -

Had some awesome roulettes yesterday on my AST. Expert roulette led me to Sohr Khai with an old friend I know from my time on Odin - I was so happy to see a familiar face! Grinned all dungeon long and threw basically all my cards to him - most amazing part was the final boss, my friend was on bard and sang Foes for the BLM and me, and I drew enough Ewers to keep him singing for the entirety of the fight :D
After the fight, when BLM and tank were gone, he asked me if I was interested in doing 60 roulette with him and that he wanted to invite me after we left the duty - for some reason he didn't realize that I left Odin two months ago ^^'
In Antitower via 60 roulette I got paired with an awesome warrior who pulled in Defiance, then immediately switched to Deliverance and managed to perfectly keep aggro and barely ever had to get healed (seriously, I've never seen this before), and an awesome bard who was singing Foes during every pull and exclusively for me as the other DPS was a monk. Well, can a DPS-healer be happier? I guess not, I felt like in paradise and Gravity-spammed the hell outta the mobs until my mana pool said goodbye - but whatever, the warrior was happy with an Aspected Benefic and some Essential Dignity every now and then.
At the last trash before the final boss I almost let the warrior die, but I hit the Essential Dignity just in time and then apologized because it was quite the close call, they said "nobody died, it's all fine!". Then at the final boss, they started in Deliverance to kill the dolls and didn't switch to Defiance to grab the boss when it spawned, so the bard ended up getting aggro and eventually oneshot by the tankbuster - we had quite the good laugh about it :D -

Fair enough, I don't mind healing someone who's willing to admit to this. It shows basic courtesy. Except that they forgot to put on Darkside and Grit before pulling. I remind them, they put it on. Fine, I can still heal everyone easily enough.
A few pulls down the hall, things aren't getting much better. I wasn't paying attention to what the DPS, which are DRG/BLM, are doing. I should have, really. DRK runs out of MP, refuses to use Blood Price even in the middle of a large pull. Again, I remind them. Even though at level 50 they should know how to use Blood Price, for the love of gods.
Things are going slowly because the DRK won't pull more than 1 group at a time, but since they have 6.1k HP, I won't begrudge them that. We slowly make our way to the first boss. While we're fighting the group just before the first boss, the BLM goes wandering off to the side, out of my sight. I'm not entirely sure what they're doing, but I focus on fighting.
Just as the DRK pulls the first boss, the BLM picks up an item, and comes running back to us with a group of mobs in tow. I let them die, hoping that it will make the trash go away. Nope.
So begins my exact observation of what these DPS are actually doing. Or rather, not-doing, since the DRG had no Heavy Thrust buff on the entire time I saw, and the BLM, despite being level 60, was constantly casting Fire or Blizzard while in Umbral Ice III or Astral Fire III, respectively, completely ignoring Firestarter procs, and generally being as slow as possible without going complete Umbral/Scathe maging.
Incredulous, I point out what they're doing, and ask if they're just trolling. No response, not that I really expected any. The first boss took forever to die, and it was easy enough to heal through it. So I had a lot of time to think about what I would do.
Was I going to stick it out, and carry this entire godforsaken party to the end? I could very easily do it, I knew. But did I really want to end up carrying everyone? Carrying DPS who can't play their jobs at level 60?
The answer, quite simply, was no. Hell no. And so right after the boss died, without even waiting for the treasure chest to be opened, I left, eating a penalty, with no regrets whatsoever. -

Thankfully he was just durable enough from sheer armor value (due to being decked out in 56-58 dungeon gear) that I could have the leisure to heal, card mechanics, and explain at the same time. I got 2 commendations out of it and him thanking me for all the tips. -

And it was totally fun! ^^
We enjoyed the run together, I explained everything and as tank I had no aggro issues ( even when I noticed, they kill always the small ones first, but well, adapting my playstyle to others is part of the game)
I sincerely hope, I will get more good experiences with frenchies so I can improve my opinion about them, since I almost always had negative experiences with frenchies before. -

After that, we started over, timer was 8mn...we said lets try....we reached 1% when the timer of the dungeon finished ..sooo close...yet all was Worth it -

I love it when I que for dungeons in progress and pop in with another monk. THe other monk is always happy and we continue to kick butt and save the planet from whatever last boss we have to punch in the face. For this I only que for Lost city and Sohm K cause those are my favs. Last SK I did was awesome, no wipes, the group was silent but at the end. When almost all the platforms were gone and we were standing in all of the sunrise. I said " Yay?" Tank " Yes Yay lol " And it felt good. Bows and dances later we left. I have hope for people once more.

So, on my AST in my most hated dungeon: Dezemael Darkhold.
I have heard about how people who play DRK made a terrible choice in life and how they all suck (my friends/FC mates tell me that I play better then the majority of DRKs).
Today I got to meet one of those DRK. The no cooldowns, does not obey dungeon mechanics, does not listen or even talk type of tank. The kind who would tank the mob packs outside the crystal veil areas... so that the invincible boss will hit them for 1/3rd of their health. The kind of tank who would stop to attack the invinicible boss outside of the boss room. So that he may be smacked in the face for 1/3rd of his health.
He winds up dropping cause after the first crystal patch I thought he got the picture. Standing in the blue field and get major def buff so that healer barely has to heal you at all. Apparently not. So when I get to the 2nd patch of blue... he is not there.
In fact he is dropping dead in the room behind me. As he did not keep going and just stopped right on the pack, got torn apart by the boss wave hitting him for 1/3rd of his health and the hog hitting him with physical vulnerability. The mobs deaggro so instead of giving him weakness I just let him release. He gets back to the others and... they stand there. One of them asks me why I let him drop.
So I proceed to explain how one tanks this section of the dungeon. The BLM then tells me that I am telling him something he already knows because he has all the tank classes at 50. I facepalm at this.
During this conversation mind you I am being smacked by a ranged mob as they wont move unless I run past the mobs that were between me and them and they just stand there taking the 1k hits from the boss flying by. I am flustered, agitated and forget cleric stance on. So they harp on me about being in cleric stance trying to heal. So I just turn off cleric stance. Its going to be one of those runs. We clear the room move onto the next.
The DRK aggros a couple mobs and is melting to them. I heal the DRK because if I dont they will harp on me about letting him drop again. I aggro THE ENTIRE ROOM.
So I run to the crystal field. Cause I can self heal tank the 8 or so mobs smacking me on the crystal field. The DRK proceeds to yank aggro off me... while standing outside of the crystal field. (STILL not using defensive cooldowns) He drops like a rock so the BLM runs away, not to me on the crystal field, and dies. Same with the MNK. I had managed to swiftcast res the DRK. Who yanks aggro off me and proceeds to die standing outside the crystal field as I struggle to keep him alive and the boss nukes his already bad health. So the mobs reaggro onto me.
I just let myself die and then exit the dungeon at my friend's insistence. Since we wiped no penalty for me. -

I was in Haukke Manor as a rogue and everything was fine until we got to the final boss. Everything was going great - everyone even clicked on a lamp (which doesn't sound like much, but the last run I did I had to do all of them because no one else would). Then, the adds came out and before I knew it, the tank and healer had somehow died. I figured we were going to wipe, but I wanted to try and finish it because the boss was at 20% or so. We both manage to kill the adds and I eventually die, and the BLM survives by spamming Blizzard and Physick. I release my body, expecting a wipe, but when I come back to the entrance (which was unfortunately blocked by a door, so we couldn't see anything), he's still alive.
So the rest of us are cheering him on while he's Blizzard/Physicking. This goes on for about five minutes. He uses the Limit Break and the boss dies shortly after. I have to say, it was one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. -

I didn't say anything though because well I usually never do; I just let people play how they play most of the time. With my holy spam the run was going not bad though.
I literally said nothing to my party until we pulled the last boss and the Bard immediately put Ballad on. They did this before on other pulls where I didn't need it but I just let it slide, but using it on the last boss right on pull...and everyone is full MP? I was confused.
I am the only one in the party who uses MP. We had a PLD but PLD doesn't need Flash on a single target so I type out a quick "No one needs MP, you can use Foe's Requiem instead if you want".
This gets me no response from the bard and yet I see them stop attacking as if they were reading or responding but then just goes back to attacking. Well I let them know they were lowering their DPS by 15% for no reason since everyone was full MP. I know in the end it doesn't matter much. We'll still kill the boss but why would you slow it down on purpose you know? It's the principle of it.
So instead of the BRD I get a response from the MCH and they tell me "Stop complaining." When I responded and said I wasn't complaining I was just telling them it lowers their DPS and we don't need ballad they again said "Stop complaining leave them alone"
I'm sorry?? I didn't know explaining to a BRD how the game works was complaining. I didn't know trying to help them was complaining either. I mean...it baffles me how people can just turn on the defensiveness when people are trying to help someone. Maybe the BRD didn't know Ballad lowers their DPS...well I let them know it does...so why am I a complainer exactly? I could have sworn I was trying to be helpful. Well damn I guess I am just a horrible person.
I guess I should just stop trying to assist other players by offering some knowledge. I've played this game since 2.0 launch day and I have tons of useful information to help other players with but every time I try to offer any help people start swearing at me or kick me out of the group or tell me to just shut up or I guess now I am a complainer. I don't say anything even close to rude so I just don't get it.

Ramuh Ex sync run. Half were new, the other half were knowledgable players including 2 Mentors that were there for their Mentor roulette, as soon as they saw there were new players and it was a Ex Primal ARR, even if asked to explain, they said they didnt know the new players and last you know, they left the group, most of us waited 1h+ to get in. I wish my comp didnt have at that moment a 90k or I would have reported them. I dont understand people advertising themselves as Mentors, using the Mentor roulette and leave when it doesnt suit them. Those should just not be allowed to be Mentors. It was ....baffling.

Mentors are expected to help, not to play babysitter for people that didn't even watch a guide for EXTREME content. We are still players that have better things to do than wiping for a whole hour without progressing.
If you keep that in mind, you will never question again, why mentors leave extreme content. -

You know, an individual who helps and teaches people because that was the intended point of it to begin with but everyone seems to forget this.
Its still a rotten attitude to have, call it realistic all you like its still rotten. Your attitude is way more jaded than simply being a realist, you're assuming the worst will happen so if anything you are being defeatist.
The whole mentorship system is flawed and sheer majority get it simply for the crown and don't give 2 cents to the players who would genuinely benefit from a proper mentor's advice.
Furthermore, we aren't on a damn high horse and you don't need to have the patience of a saint, you are simply refusing to give people a chance based on the content you end up in.
Seriously is giving people a chance such a foreign concept these days?
If they mess up and simply refuse to learn the tactics or don't spend like 3-5mins to watch a video of it before you begin, then of course leave and don't look back. -

But I doubt there's such a large difference between optimistic people that wait up a couple of wipes before leaving or people that are just so fed up and pessimistic that they decide to leave asap.
It's their own problem just as well as the people who decide to sit several hours in a Duty Finder queue for an extreme trial.
The most helpful thing you could do as a Mentor there is tell them to find a FC or give it a shot via unsynced Party Finder ~ Tomestone bonus groups. -

The one's who openly admit they got it to have a shiny crown next to their name especially drive me up the wall and they should really have it permanently removed from them.

I can definitely see where you're coming from.
The ones who completely and entirely neglect the meaning of their status besides the crown make it really easy to give Mentors in general a horrid image.
It's true that you can Mentor in whichever way you're the most comfortable with, even teaching people not to blindly leave and give up due to the implications of their group can be something highly valueable.
All you can do is try your best if you're a Mentor yourself.
The Mentor roulette may remain something I only queue up for whenever I'm ready for it - since I feel like not queueing up for it at all is still better than quickly abandoning it if it's something you didn't want to deal with. -

We got a replacement with one Mentor in it,..She did a good job, explained and after a few death, to adjustment we made it ..and everybody was happy. I mean they were a couple of mentors not one. It is soo annoying, to see that happening is just beyond understanding. But is just me..is one of those occurrence that leave you Wonder why people play a game that is supposed to be a community game.Quote:

I totally agree with you there. Mentors cant run the content for the others but dam at least try a couple of times, out of 8 people of which half dont know it will take a few death to have it right. Besides if nobody helps those new people, and that is why Mentors were made, we only contribute to the downfall of the community as a whole and then have those long threads of people complaining how bad players are and the like -

If people ask in extreme what they are supposed to do, I leave, simply because that is my expectation to them. If people want to get supported by Mentors, they have to work as well.
This is no one sided route, it goes in both directions. You may call me strict but I just reflect those high expectations back at them.
Mentors have a bad title atm because people expect them to wipe their asses and do their work for them.
I refuse that. If people have prepared, I will give it my all for extremes. If they were even too lazy to watch a short guide, then I am too lazy to waste my time.
It's that simple.
