Subscription deadline is coming up and the question is: will you subscribe?

I am thinking not to subscribe on few main reasons. One reason being the crafting classes in this game seem unfinished and in their beta state. Second reason is that every boss is defeated with prediction and not reaction. Third reason is leveling an alt class consists of only doing fates after fates which are sometimes completely broken in scaling for large masses of players or unable to do them as solo.

Actually...Yoshi stated if the game loses most of it's players or had to go "F2P" he'd rather shut it all down or do "P2P and F2P worlds" which is as good as shutdown. The game can survive but the reason they made this a "standard MMO" so it would attract much, much more than that.

OP don't made a good point, but how players know about Coil unless they get this information outside of the game. Who is the enemy? When we feel that someone need to die? The Praetorium is the goal of the game at this point. You will do Primals HM only if you see someone searching for group or got the Relic quest. Coil is totally hidden in the game, you even see it on the map when you are doing quests.

Hrm, honestly surprised that no one has flocked in to defend the game on behalf of SE, maybe they are starting to realize many people are reconsidering subs and think that damage control is futile at this point?

After considering the ups and downs of this game, I've decided it's well worth giving the development team some time to create content and fix the issues that annoy me —inventory management being second only to the 300ms fixed position check, followed probably by the somewhat grindy nature of the game so far (then again this last one's a staple of the MMO genre).

Therefore I've subscribed for 6 months since I want to support SE in trying to revive the Final Fantasy IP for the better. I believe it's potentially good for us players that Squeenix are given some support in trying to do just that.

However I'm no "fan" anymore, just a nostalgic player of some of the greatest games I've ever played (VI being a masterpiece that I place in the Top 3 of all games, movies and books I've ever experienced). So I'm willing to give FF my support, one last time. After ARR and XV, should they fail at one or both, FF's revival may happen, but I won't be there to contribute in the process. Sometimes it's just no use hoping for unrealistic outcomes, and since I've been disappointed by anything FF for years now, my hopes have worn thin, if not extent. ARR is like a candle in the dark I just wasn't expecting anymore, hence this renewed support of mine. And It's precisely because I want this game to succeed that I'll keep voicing my opinion, respectfully, in terms of subjective enjoyment; and also will try to remain as objective as I can about the design itself, as compared to other MMOs. Overall though, I must say that I'm very pleased someone as brilliant as Naoki Yoshida was given the reigns of this by no means small endeavour. It's a huge undertaking, and so far he's proven to me that there can be light at the end of the tunnel FF's been going through these past years (XIII and XIV v1).

Please keep on doing your best, Yoshi-sama!

I'll subscribe at least till I hit 50 and sample a little of the endgame. I am level 22 now so that should take me a while.

Frankly though every time I hit an invisible wall it makes me want to withdraw that subscription. And considering the sheer bulk of invisible walls in this game, that happens a lot.

I do love my character though, beautiful models and lovely animation. The writing in this game is phenomenal as well.

I won't subscribe again after my 3 months are up. I am finding the game getting boring and bland like other mmo games do. I still don't know why they chose to do the same recipe other mmo games have done since they all went F2P.

Absolutely I'm going to subscribe, in fact I already have. Do any of you remember the launch of FFXI, WoW, Aion, Terra, GW2 I could go on I alpha/beta tested so many games and the thing they all had/have in common is they all have suffered from the launch through the first year, as for content, fun and pure magic FFXIV outshines them all. Wow was also a hot mess of server crashes and bugs when it launched and look what happened, it became #1, the problem I see is that the community has become jaded and just wants to zerg the content and have done. I'm sorry some of you don't enjoy FFXIV but from what I have seen and the over crowded servers I don't think the game will be hurting for subs.

I've already laid down the payment for 6 months, nuff said.

I'm working on my 4th alt (non of which are even 30 and I get 8 total). I'll have to get back to you when (if) I hit 50. Till then, I'm having a blast. :-)

1.0 says hi and so does a lot of MMO's when people don't play. Games shut down because people don't play
and not making enough money...obviously.
We're lucky to have a re-make, they would of lost cash big time if they shut it off completely.

The answer to this would be pretty subjective.

I play Rift because I enjoy it and I've grown attached to my characters and the lore. However Rift may not appeal to you, and that is perfectly fine. But it is a decent MMO.

Also in that game I can climb mountains and swim in bodies of water, generally things I require in most of the MMOs I play. Everytime I try to partake in these activities in FFXIV on the other hand I run face first into an invisible wall, and disappointment.

I don't know yet, i need to get on end game or maybe not...I think biggest mistake was changing from a FF game in to a hybrid mix of other mmorpgs.I prefer 1.0 version by far, Atmosphere was different too, cannot foerget my slow grind day on uldah map with that great soundtrack, i can't say that grind was pleasant, but always better than see those fate zerg on a ff game that made me sad..FF must be FF

I'm here until the EQN games get rolling.

If anything drives me away it will be the idea that FATE zergs are considered core gameplay for SE.

That is of course unless you really hate the game. I can say as of now, I know no one in my FC that is not subbing.

Your cable/satellite company?

Your electric company?

Perhaps a gym you're taking a membership at?

How about your cell phone? You'd pay 3 or 6 month subscriptions to your cell service if they promised they'd provide the package you're paying for...eventually, yes? When they get around to it?

I think you are being generous with your 10% and 20% estimate. Frankly my wife and myself really enjoy the game but we have been purposely avoiding endgame because of the 300ms AOE lagg. I feel that many find this kind of delay due the positioning checks in 2013 is unacceptable.

I think unless they communicate with us on their plans on how they will address this or outright fix it we will see many that would have subbed take a wait and see position and maybe come back in a few months.

I am not sure yet but I think that is what we will do, take a break for a couple months then comeback for a 1 month and see.

Frankly I can't see myself enjoying endgame otherwise so why would I pay a sub?

i could make an argument to show my point of view of why i like FFXIV the way it is but im just too lazy to atm.

Just gonna say: the game is still new, give it time, content every 3 months will fix it.

As of now, im loving it, subbed for a year.

I am seriously hinging on the edge for my second account due to the ever-present lag spikes I am getting now (plus the random 90000 error, but this one doesn't happen too often). I've done all I can to try and resolve this issue, but perhaps it's not me at all but SE themselves.

As for the question: subscribe? That's a maybe.

The chief difference of relevance is that only mmo's get to release half finished and ask for money long before they have so much add half a game on the table.

I really like this game, but with a latency between 900 - 1200 ms almost everytime I won't subscribe.

12 euros is such pennies, that I don't see a point in not paying. A PS3 game costs 60 euros and some can last as long as 5 hours, so there is no point in not subscribing.

I plan to play no other MMO in the near future, this is the only one.

I have Relic +1 and if i'll do a few more CM runs i'll have 7DL pieces.. I can't find any reason to sub before 2.1 >.> I don't want to jump to B. Coil before doing Crystal Tower anyway ...

Already subscribed, my boyfriend and I have both bought 120 days of subscription time. We're really having a lot of fun.

I love Final Fantasy. I enjoy this game, but at times it is painful. I very much wish I hadn't rushed to 50 on my main class, but luckily the other classes are quite fun to toy around with.

Square Enix really need to add more mid-level quests though for future classes. Fate grinding isn't fun after one class, let alone raising the others, and you don't have a choice because no quests.

Honestly? If I didn't have such an awesome LS with people who keep me entertained and to do random stuff with ingame I would be a lot close to not subscribing. However, I'll give the game a chance.

am sitting on the fence at the moment, not sure if i really want to continue.

Had a chat with 3 mates on vent last night, between us we have just under 50 years mmo experiences combined and its funny we all agreed this was boring compared to others.

major issues i have:
1. combat and the global cool down just seems so slow
2. lag spikes and how the client / server work
3. not enough content (not talking about end game content) there isnt a journey you can remember
4. levelling is way to fast
5. Fate system is over kill
6. No tell function in instances
7. cant right click block
8. world seems to linear - exploration seems boring
9. death doesn't mean anything in this game - no sense of fear
10. crafting atm is meaningless
11. characters just all seem the same, all look the same, all use the same rotations

Things I like:
1. DF is a good idea - could be better implemented
2. primal fights are fun
3. proabably the best crafting system i seen implemented
4. FF linkage to the past

I will wait till 2.1 before i make a final verdict, but the biggest issue is that ffxiv is trying to be a jack of all trades and a master of none.

as it stands im 70% not subscribing again, the game and content does not justify £7.50 a month, especially for ps3, the game has too many flaws, is incomplete and chronically lacks in content...ill have a look after a few patches

If I didn't already buy Crysta at release, I wouldn't. There's just not enough to do right now, and FATEs are way too boring to level alt jobs.

I don't think i've even played longer than 10min in the last 2 weeks+. :(

you can fill address information in the square enix page. Still I wanted to change my country but couldn't. So, if my credit card doesn't go through there is no option to buy crysta because I'm in a country where that is not allowed for some reason.

Bolded are being addressed in 2.1. As for the rest, well, I do agree on some but disagree on
a few others. Nothing wrong with your concerns they are legit. A lot of it is perspective.
Some people find crafted gear worthwhile, some not. Same with exploration, etc.

Hopefully 2.1 and/or 2.2 will clear up a lot of these issues for you so you can enjoy the
game as you would like. :)

Yes I am going to continue playing. In fact I have already sub another 2 months. Why??? Cause lalafells that's why... <3 <3 On a more serious note, do not forget that FF14 has only been out for 1 month or so. Which means there will be future upgrades, future contents, more lalafells. Why should I give up on a game who is still so young over trifling issues which can be ironed out in future expansions/patches? The graphic is beautiful, environment breath taking.... and all that can run on my cute laptop. There's also the nostalgia factor, since there's quite alot of references to the old SE games in ff14 XD
