Does anyone know the reason behind making such changes?
I'm not sure why it still baffles me how people get healers or tanks to levels where you'd think knowing their basic tool kit should be a given. Did leveling roulette. Got Aurum Vale. Healer dies first boss cause they didn't eat fruit. Though during the first trash tank almost dies a few times. The healer is the only other one who's synced down and even without looking at their gear is wearing a set that looked like the Star Velvet set. A later gear check confirms this. So after we end up whipping to the main room post 1st boss I start paying more attention to the whm cause they're going through mp like water through a sieve.
I start seeing them medica when they're not around the party and no one really needing it. Them swift casting regen? I looked at the in-game battle log and during the last boss regen is the only spells they use right after it. During the 2nd boss I noticed they chose to use holy. This is when I start giving advice cause whm is my main and by 60 you should know to not use holy on single target. Even during trash packs it's away from groups. Almost no regens or it's on people who don't need it. Even on the final boss outside of adds they still are using holy. Again I tell them that holy and media are based around themselves and they'd be doing more if they threw out aero and stone.
Dear people,
if you buy your friend a story skip and a job skip, please do the following:
Teach them basic movement
Teach them whats generally bad
Teach them how to press buttons to keep the global cooldown rolling
Teach them what off globals are
Teach them what their job is generally doing
Don't make them unlock Copied Factory first thing and then go in
Don't teach them the game as you go, in an Alliance raid
Do go to striking dummies, that are around on different spots, so they get to understand their skills
Do make them read their tooltips
Do go into dungeons with them so they have an easier time understanding
Don't go full feral on our monk because he was wondering why the dancer was standing around for minutes and did autoattack only most of the time and got hit by everything
Don't go full feral on me when i actually try to tell your dancer friend what dancer has to do
Don't hog dance partner for yourself, while also underperforming and not using cards
Tell me, your cohealer, that they will die a lot. I tried my best to keep them alive and ressed them many times before you did. My poor mp.
Dear third person:
Don't defend the Ast, that went FULL feral on us and say "this is not pvp". I give you that, it's a new one, usually it's "not savage". But it's the same energy.
Don't tell me they didn't ask for help in their rotation if the Ast, their friend, LITERALLY tells all of us that they bought them a skip, they are NEW new and they are teaching their friend AS THEY GO. What do you think this means??? That they NEED help! We're their teammates, we can try to help, they had 0 idea of how the game works and got thrown under the bus by their friend that went Copied factory with them because "it's not endgame anymore". What does that even mean, the nier raids aren't made for people that have 0 idea of how any of the game works, including movement.
They didn't use dancepartner, until pointed out (then they gave it to the ast, then took it off between bosses, i dunno) and also didnt use finishes until pointed out, so don't tell me they didnt ask for help when they clearly needed it.
Also i can only guess who it was, but don't take off my triangle, i will put it on every time you take it off.
Because the dancer was not the only one struggling
The dancer was the only one not following me
I really dislike this "if you dont stop talking i'll report you" mentality, when nobody of us did anything reportable, you did. As said, go ahead, report me then. I'm not afraid because I did nothing reportable. Neither did the others.
Your dancer friend also shouldn't threaten to basically grief with "i could also stand around and do nothing", if that's what they were doing in the first place. You two were broderline griefing, so don't announce that you literally would do it for no reason and nobody was hostile, except you, dear ast.
Thank you
PS: I swear, it might be "boring" to do all these things before going anywhere, but believe me. Actually knowing what to do will be more fun than being pulled off the floor for every mechanic they don't know. Which is all of them.
I wish false reporting actually got somewhere. For instance when you report RMT there's a stern pop-up saying any false flags will have consequences. I low-key wish that if a report is superfluous, the reporter get a message back - even if copy/pasted - telling them why the report was false and what situations a rule applies to. It would be more educational and would deflate egos down a bit IMO.

Of course you can't ask for help if you dont mention it in the first place and hope nobody notices and or mentions it.
They really thought the dancer dying to everything and doing nothing will never be noticed and mentioned.
I'm sorry, dear ast, i still stand by: dont get salty if you tell people that they are new new, so new that they cant even move right yet and also be salty if people are genuenly trying to help with what dancers do.
You didnt do a good job helping your friend be prepared and I bet they did not have a lot of fun, even if nobody said anything, because they died to every mechanic thrown at them, multiple times.
I will not be painted as bad guys because people are allergic to help. "tHeY dId NoT aSk FoR iT", you could have and they would have known way much more about the game afterwards. You didnt because, in your own words "we don't have to tell you crap about anything", why would you want anybody to help if you think throwing new people at Nier raids does anything for their enjoyment.
Did you know that you can teach them as much as you want during the raid where they know nothing and get mechanics thrown at them to dodge and also have to somehow dps. They didnt manage either. What fun gameplay for them, am i right.
Did you rather want us to kick her? Because we could have.
You didnt even throw your friend abone and mark yourself. I did, it was me. Markers help A LOT. I know, because i was lead by marked people AND lead as marked person myself.
Sorry for the extra rant, i'm not even mad about it. Just baffled by how feral somebody can get for no reason because "I TEACH THEM, YOU SHUT UP! EVEN IF I AM DOING A BAD JOB AT IT! I AM TEACHING HER DONT YOU SEEEEEEEEE!!!" when nothing changed between first and last boss other than them doing what we said they should do (dancepartner and dances). They were struggling and dying from start to finish.
Please, don't be allergic to help. Help is not looking down on you. You are clearly struggling. It has nothing to do with wanting you do be a godgamer, i don't care. It has to do with doing the basic functions of what you play as.
Why would somebody not help if you are clearly struggling, just because "i didnt ask for it". You didn't, but knowing what better to do is bad WHY?
I really also dislike this mindset. Please help me when i'm struggling, even if i dont ask for it.
Got into a Tower of Zot with a healer (WHM) and tank (DRK) that both had Burger King crowns and Ultimate Legend titles. Both of them got absolutely murdered by the first boss. Second one was mostly okay, but oh man... the pull leading up to the last one was not fun. The healer wanted to play dangle the tank with tank that seemed to have no concept of mitigation. Anywho, tank does the first big pull. He then proceeds to die immediately upon the mobs becoming stun immune. We try again, same thing happens. The tank and healer then begin blaming the DPS for this issue despite the mobs having been close to dead by the end of the WHM's Holy spam stun cycle both times. Eventually we do reach the second big pull, at which point the SMN sees which way the wind is blowing and hits the LB. The DRK still dies, but we manage to kill the remaining mobs before it turns into a wipe. They berated the SMN for using the LB despite it having directly prevented a wipe.
The last boss was uh... well, I did not realize it was possible to get so many vuln stacks in a single mechanic, but the tank sure did. WHM wasn't healing anyone other than the tank despite the dot slowly murdering us, and the DRK still wasn't bothering to mitigate anything. We wipe again to the surprise of no one, at which point they initiate a vote to kick on the SMN. I vote against it, but it goes through anyway for obvious reasons. I get kicked a few seconds later.
I've seen a lot of bad DNC lately...and as a DNC main it really hurts the soul.
Had a DNC partner me while I was leveling SAM(either Friday night or Saturday morning) that didn't use Standard Step except on the first pull, and one of the last three pulls. It wasn't up any other time. Don't even think about Technical Step being used. They were also way off from the trash packs that they weren't able to AoE them at all.
Another yesterday while working in NIN that let SS fall off every pull, and would only use it once at the start usually before most mobs were in range.
As for my own story, had two wipes on the dragon in The Burn yesterday. The BLM and I tried to kill it from 40%, then 20% - which we potentially could have if I realized the BLM died while casting the LB before it was too late and I was hit the last time to kill me. The PLD and AST(pretty sure it was AST) died due to the DOT from the ice.
Right? When you know a class a bit, you... sometimes when you watch people do... whatever they are doing, you just.... oof. But they usually do way more than the dancer did. Both of them were really bad... trust me.
Whatever it was, i would never give my new friends a DOUBLE jump and then NOT force them to practice.
Dungeons are so easy to digest...
60/70 dungeons are good for practice but woe is me.
People that justs ay easy tips are the bad guy, but i'm not gonna take that, not a bad guy!
Had a Perfect Legend trio in leveling roulette a few nights ago. I was SGE and the dungeon was Sirensong Sea. I got the impression they may have bought their titles/clears/whatever because they apparently didn't know how Sage works. I got accused of being a bot after we wiped to a very large group of trash (admittedly due to my own mixing up of Druochole/Ixochole) after the DRK tank popped Living Dead. We wiped again on the last big pull before the final boss. Granted both were probably my fault for thinking Kardia heals and the occasional shield could keep a tank alive but the "Are you a bot" comment was a little rude and uncalled for.
Thing is, for me, a casual (i do extremes sometimes if i'm not lazy, am lazy a lot), i would say the Nier raids are on the higher end of casual content.
The nier raids are just not casual friendly and i actually feel bad for the dancer to be thrown in there, they were super confused, i had a lot time to watch them (healer vision be blessed sometimes).
I still don't think i was rude, but vehemently hating on help is such a weird thing.
Sage can struggle a bit for bigger pulls in lower dungeons.
The moment Kerachole gets a regen, things are very nice.
Never forget that Kerachole and Taurochole do not stack, lol
Usually do kerachole and physis at the start of a pull when the tank is done with grabbing all adds, then Taurochole after kerachole is done to the tank.
Always keep the tank targeted as Sch/sage/whm, they all 3 can do that.
First time i played sage in Dohn Meg, i struggled with my skills still, too. And i have healers leveled, i just suck at Sch and am more reactive healer than proactive. But once you manage, you'll be fine.
Don't let them get to you, it feels bad to know it IS partly your fault, but it actually makes you learn. Change skills on your hotbar if you always click the wrong one first.
Come back stronger than you were before lol
8 years playing, I finally came across something funny enough that I felt I could share with TftDF - a bizarre wipe scenario I have never seen, even when this raid was new:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHbb84OUnjs
sorry it's just a link, I can't figure out how to embed a video...
also sorry if this is old news, like I said, I've not seen this since I started lol
Oh, the Atomos wipe on LotA. I've seen that once before, though it has been a while.
I count 4 on the pad and 2 at the boss. Sprout tank seems to die under the onslaught and the M-DPS there is just circling and attacking the boss while the adds stay full health. Eventually to charge.

Purple tethers are a mechanic from the second dungeon in the game. Sigh.
Yesterday I was leading a BA run.
We reached the second last boss, AV without much trouble.
I've done callouts for this fight already hundreds of time's, so it should be all good.
Then I simply forget the 2nd mechanics and kill a bunch of people by not calling out the save side.
8+ player died, 3 permanent.
At the end I got my 2nd ever AV minion drop.
After 100+ kills... My 2nd minion, the pull i killed a bunch of people.
That proofes it that only bad players have luck with loot and good rolls.
Queued into mentor roulette as sage and got a 32-min in-progress dead ends.
I loaded expecting them to have maybe wiped on the 2nd boss due to people stacking circles.
Nope, it was worse than that.
They were still at the first boss... after 32 minutes...
Well, we fight the boss and kill it without any trouble, so now I'm confused as to how the dungeon could have been taking so long.
We take the teleporter to the next area, and the tank (DRK) immediately says he'll be pulling small.
He stops after the first pack and proceeds to use his 1-2-3 combo + unmend spam. No AOE combos.
This continues through the entire run, with a few stragglers running around and hitting us while the tank grabs everything individually with unmend.
Also look at his MP bar and notice it's full the whole time. That means he is not using his ogcd aoe and he is not using TBN...
I'm not sure if he was even using mitigation, but it wouldn't have surprised me if he wasn't
Being the nice person I am, I decided not to say anything and to just let my disappointment fester and rot me from the inside.
Gave the commendation to the RDM mentor who also had to suffer though that run.
Calling someone a bot just because of a wipe is rude indeed and doesn't help one bit but I don't see how they apparently didn't know how SGE worked? And what that was to do with buying a title or not? All 3 Ultimates were released before SGE and nobody is expected to know all classes inside out just because they cleared an Ultimate. Doesn't excuse the bot comment, of course.
That said, Kardia (and fairy autos) is passive baseline healing and nothing more. It's normal for every healer to burn through the whole toolkit on wall to walls while bosses serve as a good cooldown reset because there is so little going on. SGE is no different there.
Reshield the tank on the run while he's still pulling so he starts with full HP when everything is gathered and either dot everything or spam Dyskrasia on the run while the tank is still healthy.
Once he stands still, Kerachole for mitigation and to avoid wasting stacks and Physis + Sorteria because Kardia autos profit from the small heal buff and you can keep dpsing for longer. Can slightly delay both by a GCD or two if you crit shielded and the tank hasn't lost HP yet. At lower levels I recommend sprinkling in EDiag before you completely burned through all the Addersgall stacks to spread healing a bit more evenly.
And as Cheremia said: Tauro when Kera mitigation ran out. 10% for 15s is a lot.
It takes some practice to know how much you need to GCD heal in addition to keeping all oGCDs rolling and when you should start using them and it varies with each group but you'll get the hang out of it. You already took not that Kardia and the occasional shield is not enough, it can only get better from now on.
Rolled as a WHM into Dead Ends Roulette.
Met the legendary 8 vuln stacks WAR.
: )
My years of 24mans has prepared me for this moment!!!
When three adds are out at once (as seen here in B's lane.) they Link up and get a DMG Up bonus. At this point - standing on the pad can be a detriment if the adds are being held at the opposite end. When three adds link up, you have to switch to the adds before they obliterate your team, even if that means temporarily stepping off your pad!!
Iron Giant will spawn if there aren't enough players to fulfill the "4 on a pad" mechanic. (IE: Less than 4 people alive in the lane. IE DED BY ADDS!!!)
Fun fact: if you go into the Ridorana Lighthouse as a SMN, and your team, including your healers, die often to mechanics, they can have a near-perma brink debuff for every fight. SMN also makes for a good raise bot should your healers continuously be stressed for mp trying to scrape people off the ground and just survive.
How do I know this? Guess who found out the fun way just now? And guess who lost track of how many times they had to swift+raise in the raid?
/pdead
Got into Meridianum for MSQ, half the party left because it wasn't Prae. That's the only time allotment I had to run it today given the wait to even get in. Thanks, assholes.
It's 2022. Why do we still have whole pages of forum posts telling healers not to regen tanks prepull or telling tanks to click off the regen? A single step 1 AoE under tank stance generates the same enmity as 56 regen ticks on 7 mobs. A single tank ranged weaponskill generates the same enmity as 392 regen ticks on 7 mobs. Leave the regen on and hit the things as you run.
It's a minor inconvenience at best, but it can potentially cause some issues if things go sideways somehow. I would never recommend applying Regen before a pull to any healer. Thankfully with GNB I have my own HoT, so it's not much of a problem to begin with for me. Even if a regen is thrown at me, my own sort of negates the enmity factor.
I think it really depends.
The only few times I could think of clicking off the regen icon is in dungeons where the mobs remains untargetable but instantly registers into my aggro table, like in Ghimlyt Dark. OR, when the positions of all mobs are sooooo far away from 1 another.
Either way, right. The healer won’t die from few pokes—so does the tank, from clicking the regen off. The healers can always reapply once the enmity stabilizes. No biggie.
on its own healer regen prepull probably won't cause a wipe but in my experience most wipes happen because several things go wrong at once or in a row. that's when when it causes wipes you know proverbial straw and all that
I have never had aggro problems as a tank since I came back to the game when Endwalker launched. Not meaning I am a great tank however, I am average at best, but the threat mutiplier is like 10 times your damage or something insane like that so threat management should not be an issue now. It can become a problem if the tank does not aoe or does not care to hit everything as they pull, I have suffered such things playing as healer and as DPS, but then that is not a regen problem, it is a tank problem. Why some of them do never AOE or do it only once per pull I don't know. And I don't complain either, if I am not tanking I just go on doing my thing the best I can without pulling ahead of the tank and let them figure out why I am tanking half of the trash unless they ask... which they never do... But, hey, sometimes they figure it out on their own and they start spamming their AOE moves before the end of the dungeon. It feels great when it happens. "No regen pre-pull" is a thing of the past now, do not dwell in the past.
Clicking them off makes it more stressful for WHM at lower levels but who cares about that, right?
WHM has a very, very barebone toolkit. Below 52 they don't have any option to heal on the run besides SC Cure II and Regen. At 52+ they have Solace but Lilies only generate every 30s and you'll start the dungeon without any ad with the horrible MP management from the high Cure II costs they'll have to use them frequently during the pull as well, likely starting the next without one.
If a tank manages to avoid almost all auto attack damage while pulling, good. No need for Regen. If they do take a signifcant portion of damage while pulling than they'll have dropped below 50% before everything is even gathered. Instead of being able to reapply Regen, set up Asylum (if they have it) and spam Holy, WHM has to top the tank first because slow heals are not enough for the tank to survive until the first Holy stun.
Hit aoe once, hit any mob you missed with a ranged attack/ voke, keep spamming the ranged attack on all mobs while running to the next group. It takes a bit of practice but it's not difficult, just a matter of getting used to it. And hitting all mobs properly right away allows the DPS to hit them on the run to their heart's content and the healer to do the same or heal the tank.
I'm not a tank main. When I started tanking some mobs ran away before I was able to catch them. I kept an eye on where my healer is, something a tank should do anyway, made sure to be in the path between mobs and the healer, used an aoe, hit stray mobs with ranged attack and than cycling through them while throwing things at them and running to the next group. Ranged attacks have 20y range, voke has 25y. That's plenty.
Even if the healer gets initial aggro from mobs spawning before they're targetable and are not spawning neatly stacked, it's a matter of 1-2 GCDs to grab everything without having to stand still.
If a healer does run away with a mob then that's on them and that's actually a bad habit. Keep going, if the healer insists on dueling a mob in Narnia and you wipe it's the perfect opportunity to explain that they always need to stay close to the tank because it was their mistake to run away to begin with.
Regen on the run is fine if the tank is paying a little bit of attention. It really doesn't take much to grab mobs. No, not even on a WAR while they only have their cone and nothing else. Once you get the 2nd step you can simply use it uncombo'd, problem solved.
As a healer, I have Medica II and Regan on at all times on the tank and insist they pull as much as they can. I leave the DPS to the DPS and perhaps maybe DPS 5% of the time but for the most part I make sure the party does not wipe and I know my place as the healer. If I happen to get argo I calmly run up to the tank so they can AOE the mobs and take the argo off me.
So thankfully they will be making that a Trust. I understand why everyone leaves. That tells you there is a problem with the design. My issue as a tank is if everyone wants to stand and fight one by one instead of rushing to the boss like 95% of players will do but you will get those parties who make people hate that MSQ.
However scene skipping has been disabled due to the fact people who watched the story would get kicked for doing so in the past so yeah SQ's change to make these trusts is for the best.
Honestly, I do not plan to ever roll a Sage as its a class that should not be a healer class. I think the Bard Class was supposed to be what a Sage is now a Healer that focuses on Healing 2nd. I think they figured they might as well just make a Bard DPS not to piss everyone off but then they changed their mind when they made Sage. If there is one class that seems to piss everyone off except for the Sages themselves its Sages.
As a Tank once I see the Icon for a Sage I slowly recoil and know we are most likely going to have a bad time. As DPS I recoil as I can see the wipes coming and the tank and the 'Sage' as I won't call them a real healer cause they are not argue who caused the wipes.
We all know the reason why Gunbreaker, and Dark Knight which were known to be damage classes were made into a Tank class in FFXIV to get more people playing Tanks since they are the cool classes. We know there is a large segment of healers who role healer and hate to heal or barely heal in dungeons. This is why I feel we got the Sage but it has made runs worse by making a Healing 2nd class a Healer class.
What is with all these healers that refuse to DPS lately? They were always a thing, but it seems like they're raining from the sky in Endwalker. Do they somehow not realize they are actually creating more work for themselves by barely or in some cases not healing at all?
All of today's roulettes have been filled with healers that won't heal. They just stand there if nobody needs healing. Which, when the tank is a WAR, means they stand there doing nothing the vast majority of the time.
...I... what? I really hope this is a troll, because SGE is great to have around unless you're a DRK. They synergize extremely well with GNB, PLD, and WAR, and they're generally fine with DRK as well unless Living Dead needs to be used for some reason. The job's emphasis on dealing damage actively discourages bad play in the form of refusing to DPS, meaning you tend to clear dungeons faster. Their HoT and a nice big shield are normally all they really need on you, so they're free to heal passively by dealing damage as they go.
OMG when I run a dungeon as a tank I pray I get a White Mage that heals rather then DPS. In fact, it makes the dungeon run so much smoother with people commenting about how happy they are. Of course, if I as a tank witness a Healer being harassed due to them healing doing their job I of course defend my healer and depending on how that goes a Vote To Kick might come next for Harassment of my Healer.
