PSA/ALERT: Houses are getting demolished when they shouldn't. SE needs to see this!

The problem that people are having are not exclusive to not receiving the email. There have been reports of players being inside their houses within the 45 day period and getting their houses demolished unexpectedly, and also reports of players getting the in-game demolition warning earlier than scheduled despite being inside their houses within the 45 day period.

You misunderstood what I said. The point that I'm trying to make is that the creation of this thread is helpful for investigating if the bug is real or not, and that I don't think this thread is helping spread misinformation because there are many people posting to remind everyone that the bug is not yet confirmed 100% to be real.

I dont use any of these, my mail on the SE account is active and I get every single other mail from them. Yet I also did not get the demolishing timer one. There is nothing in the junk ordner and I have not done any restrictions on getting mails.

Would be great to migrate to gmail if i had not 80% of my game/forums-related stuff on Outlook/Yahoo since 2001, i feel extremely lazy by thinking about it, that's a lot of services :X

But yeah, clearly for people using non "trusted" email services, check junk mails, and force whitelist FFXIV-HOUSING@square-enix.com , normal SE mails don't have any problem, but the IP of the housing mail system is recognized as a threat :'x

(Be noticed that the housing system have his own IP and have nothing to do with all the others SE mail you can receive, you can't really compare based on that)

And just to be clear : https://hetrixtools.com/blacklist-ch...quare-enix.net is fully check as clean, gmail use this kind of up-to-date database.

But some other "classic" blacklist checker services just timeout on this domain (and IP, if i enter the IP) , i guess it is considered as threat when the check fails, in that case the mail server just kill the mail randomly , if not, sometime put things in the junk sections, it's just... so random.

I can vouch for emails not being sent to a Gmail account. I also checked the spam folder and there was nothing there.

I think OP had good intentions to spread awarness if true but bug seem be nothing more than a troll at this point, like I said before. There been no follow up, nothing that indicate any house been demo'd by error.

Then the only conclusion for my problem is that it isn't a Gmail issue, it is an issue on SEs end. Either that or Google are letting some through, and not others, which seems odd.

The thing i don't get... Why are these people hiding or dissapearing when people ask precisions ? Why they don't post clear evidences ? you can prove that a house have been demolished, even without logs or anything.

I mean if my house suddenly dissapear like that under the 45days, don't worry that i screen the f*ck out of everything that can prove that the house dissapeared , in an anormal way , lodestone and all the sites that gathers data from the lodestone with a delay (there is an entire day delay with demolition, where your plot emplacement stay on your profile (and even sometime, in the game client the thing did not update instantly), exept if you buy a house just behind who make the lodestone update quicker), you can also screen the NPC who give you back things when the demolition occurs like "yeah, house demolished, take back your sh*t", which seems a little detail but can confirm that indeed a demolition really occured with your character. And then do a report ingame, and capture your exchange if there is one, or tentative if you don't have any response.

You can't tell me that no one even though of that's, it's an MMO, people screens and post evidences when problems like that occurs.

The problem on this case : There is...Nothing. People don't do checks, people don't ASK checks, they just spread the info. I think that's why a part of the community is frustrated.

I know that it is a good thing to bring "light" on the housing problems, to make the dev check them and tries to correct them. but like that... not sure, it feels forced.

I have checked every folder, both when the issue occurred and today. I checked the email linked to my account, both when the issue occurred and today. I can guarantee that the issue isn't an error on my part.

I want to believe that some people are silently sending in their bug reports/support tickets and waiting for SE to get back to them. The other possible explanations... people don't want anything to do with SE after their houses got demolished, people not caring to report or not knowing to report after saving their house from the early demolition timer, or maybe just there not being any actual cases at all. It's frustrating not knowing which one it is.

You make a good point about people not asking for checks. I think we can do a better job of informing people of not just the bug but also of what to do should they be one of the affected, as clearly as we can.

Luxyn, can we edit the first post of the thread (and maybe the reddit thread) with the following?
1) Bayohne's response.
2) Drive the point across that the people affected NEED TO submit a bug report, otherwise SE can't investigate.
3) Remind people that if they are going to tell their friends/discords/linkshells about the bug issue, it's VERY important to mention #2.

Is the email it being sent to, is it yours? Someone could had hacked your account and changed the email

So 1) It's a problem from the SE housing mail system and the mail is just not sent at all. or 2) something is killing the mail before it arrives into your account, usually when it's happening it is the internal blacklist system ,that have nothing to do with YOUR blacklist, gmail is just asking trusted blacklisting services if the IP or the email adress have been flagged or detected as threat or a spam, like i explained before. but this adress is listed as green everywhere so it is not supposed to happen at all with a gmail account.

Or it can be both at the same time :X

Why have they not just suspended all demolitions until they can get their code fixed? The paranoia is infuriating.

Because not one person has proven that this has happened to them yet. no proof no gm chat screenshot no actual claims. All this it happened to my friend neighbor fc leader ect. FFXIV team isnt going to respond to something they have no proof of it happening.

I use Gmail and when I let my house get auto demoed a few months ago in preparation for my transit Famfrit I had no problem getting the alert emails and in the inbox folder

I can only conclude that the email thing is hit-and-miss and is either related to SE's end or individual email settings for each person. I've never not gotten emails from SE, housing or otherwise, and I've been using the same hotmail account I've had since high school. I know some people have had trouble with hotmail though.

All I see is just 2 reports and one of them said he/she was logged last time 20-25 days ago. He/She could have mistaken the days. 20 can easily become 45.
The accepted bug report doesn't make the bug real yet as it is under investigation.
I still have my doubts that this thing is real.

Yes, there are a couple reports in there that haven't been confirmed as relating to the issue everyone here has been talking about. Also given all the friend of a friend comments in there you'd expect there to be a few dozen bug reports for this in there...but there aren't. For now those two reports remain an anomaly, a corruption in an account dataset, not a bug in the system therefore no need to halt the demo timer. SE is investigating the issue to determine what, if anything is happening, what they are not doing is overreacting to what is possibly hearsay.

For now the best thing the community can do is submit the detailed bug reports that have been asked for so SE has a better understanding of what and where the bug is. Everything beyond posting factual evidence at this point is just fearmongering and needs to stop.

Well, all I can say is someone got me a plot yesterday .... so if I lose the house Imma gonna be really upset.

Has anyone had their plot automatically relinquish while actively using it, and have proof?

I mean, come on, if I just logged in and found my house in the possession of someone else, heads are going to roll and I would be posting any little bit of info/screenshots showing that I owned said plot, and the Resident Caretakers menu showing its actually relinquished legit or by other means and not by force of either myself or by a GM (Gil buyers or shady shenanigans) etc

Its just my opinion but even if those had all been lies or maybe wrong memories on how long they were away, SE should have still stopped the timer as soon as the first reports came in. Just to be sure, because investigation can take some time and if it was not a lie this could mean that others might lose their house too. And if it was somehow a lie then resting the timer for a week or two would have also done no harm.

Even if someone didn't got notice emails, s/he knows the rule of 45 days.

Blaming SE for not sending emails is just trying to avoid to blame yourself being careless of your housing.

There are many reasons they can't do that or shouldn't even do that.

- It sets a precedent that any time if anyone want to freeze the timer, they just have to conduct a smoke and mirror campaign to get their wish. Considering the tone and nonchalant of many of the "me too" post, it seems fairly obvious some are hoping to just piggy back this narrative to fish something for their own.
- The timer is not something SE can turn on/off by flipping a switch. Remember each time they do it, they have to take the whole servers down. So no, they should only do it once they believe they have actionable reason to do so.

I'm pretty sure we would have seen a much sweeper and faster response if EVERYONE WHO HAD MADE A CLAIM about this alleged bug all went out and fill a report in the bug forum, but that's not what happening. Despite how potentially huge this bug is, it has seen an usually low, almost comical low afford from the 'victims' to bring the issue to light. Another thread of similar nature was made on reddit yesterday, and despite reaching 100+ posts, contain ONE guy who claimed it happen to him ... 2 years ago. Along with 3 additional "it happened to my boyfriends" with again by some extreme coincidence, none want to make a report on the official forum. The original guy (the one who made the first claim) who claimed the GM "had admitted the bug exist" - which had proven to be a false claim - days ago had disappeared when pressed for detail, even on reddit. There is even one guy went on at length how SE should still do something even if people don't file bug report, to reddit credit that guy got downvoted to the ground.

Like I said, regardless of whether this bug is real or not, from an operation point of view, each time a new claim come up it actually give people less reason to believe and do something about, not more. Even on reddit, after the intial emotion/panic dried up without any credible evidence, people are starting to wise up as well.

But it was on reddit guys, therefore it must be true. Gosh.

As others have pointed out, it's not even confirmed there is an issue. But there's also no "just" about it. As we've seen before, turning the timer on and off requires maintenance, they can't just do it and I'm sure they don't want to take the game down unless they really have to.

Maybe I am the minority, but I am not even the slightest bit worried and I own a home myself. Had one since they were implemented and in all these years, I had never heard of such a supposed bug until now.

To be fair, they just took the game down last week to nerf the Bunny FATEs in Pagos and to fix an animation issue in Rathalos. And they're taking it down again on Aug 20 for more Pagos fixes (I'd wager, since they said future fixes would come in future hotfixes). I doubt to see this alleged issue addressed since its starting to seem like a ruse, but they can just take down the game whenever they want for whatever they want.

The important distinction here, I believe, is that they are willing to take it down for established, concrete problems. Not some vague reddit rumor that was highly suspect (imo) from the very beginning.

I realize that. I'm just saying they're perfectly capable of taking down the game for maintenance whenever they want. And they certainly do it for more trivial things.

No, no business in any size, western or eastern would take unconfirmed report as a fact and act immediately upon.

No one I know has lost their houses (I only have third hand accounts of that), but I can confirm that one of my FC members got the demolition timer 4 days after last entering their house.

For the people who are clamoring for more concrete proof on the forums: How? No one is going to take a screen shot every single time they enter their house and there is no good way to actually track that in-game.

I do agree that those affected should submit bug reports though. Complaining on the forums without submitting a bug report is sort of not helpful.

Its not hard to prove the demo timer isn't resetting. Go into your house and pull up the estate settings menu to show its your house and pull up the timer window next to it which will show it hasn't reset. Any given character can only have 3 estates types with a demo timer (FC, personal, shared) and the timer explicitly tells you which its for. While you can have more than one shared estate, its not a timer you can reset so thats a moot point for this discussion.

And as you said, if you aren't making a bug report for it then its a non issue. Either people are lying or they just don't care and are only trying to stir up problems.

As for historical usage, there are records of that in the database. If you did own a house there recently then the devs can find that information, however they will also be able to see it was lost through the demo timer; that part is easy. The hard part is trying to verify if the demo timer worked correctly which would take a more in depth look at the log files for the server and thats what the bug reports are for. The bug reports give them a place to start and refine the search which would otherwise be an impossibly large haystack with a really small needle.

Demolition timers won't appear until your estate (or one you share) reaches the 10-day mark before it will be demolished. So checking the timers won't really show you if said timer is resetting or not. At least not until an estate reaches the point where the timer stops being invisible and becomes visible.

That being said, this appears to be little more than a ruse, since people are not coming forward with legitimate information despite being asked repeatedly.
