Easy fix - mobs are unaffected by sneak on 50-200, not every enemy is affected by sneak

I've on a few occasions already had my only (non-exploding/failing) silver chests after hitting 60 come from trash drops. Not all were with a Fortune Pomander up either. It's gotten to the point that if I'm in a party that can mob down mobs, we don't sneak. We just mow as we walk. We're ride-em mob mowers. And it feels like getting to 30/30 is faster for it. (I've had 5 1-50 clears where my only gains were from the final boss. You'd think by 28/29 I'd be one of those guys wanting to skip everything and just get to the end, but my luck's been better when we at least allow ourselves kills as convenient rather than actively trying to avoid conflict, and usually full clearing when Fortune's up, so until 29/29 I see no reason to stealth "rush" and even then I'm not about to try to to force others along.)
Also pretty sure certain mobs are detectors already. Some could spot me through Hide at normal visible detection range.
it is a deterance, if youre smart. maybe youre used to 4 healer comps, where the stacking regens are cool. im not. im used to pretty much any number of comps you can think of. mimics that level resist stun. and alteration gives you a slight chance at bonus exp dropping one shot mandragoras. tell me - at max level why are you aiming to proc mandragoras that give you lots of experience? is it so you might hit the fabled level 61? You wont, anyone here can tell you that doesnt happen. 60 is the maximum, for potd and all other content until the cap is increased.
SO your other option is mimics. A chance to drop brown chests, which might drop a mimic instead of a pomander. Do you yet see what I am talking about? abd that drop rate has to be about 15 or less for real.
It is already the case, there are at least 3 enemy types on the later floors that detect sneak, which I like. It means that as a Ninja I really do have to sneak around these enemies to get chests or I set off the whole room. My response was saying that if they don't want sneaking to be the meta then it's easy to fix by making all mobs detect you (I hope not, sneaking is fun and finally relevant)
Honestly I was hoping for more of a Dioblo 3 Rift kind of format. To me this was just a zergfest with no real rewards or anything major. All you get is a weapon o.O? Where is the armor or perhaps special crafting mats for special glamour that is specific to POTD. I just dont understand why SE dropped the ball on this. It was fun the first time around bc it was new but at the end of floor 50 you realize that this was garbage...
Over all i give the content 3 out of 10. The only reason I give it 3 out of 10 was being able to get a descent i235 weapon. The rest of POTD was terrible just mindless boring content Everything about it was terribly designed.
- Groups: If you want to form a party why not just make it just like any other dungeon in the game. Simply form a party and go in and who ever has the lowest floor in the group saved is where the group starts. At least they got the random queue up right.
- Mindless content: No real threat. No Team Work. No THINKING AT ALL. A drunk buffoon who never played the game could have cleared POTD. I can understand making floors 1 - 10 for brand new players. I can understand making floors 11 - 20 for semi new players (lvls 30 -50). But floors 21+ should have been for the end game crowd. There should have been tone down raid mechanics (AOEs, tank busters, team work, Creative Thinking.... you know content that actually makes you use your brain).
This game is really losing its identity. Devs are relying purely on RNG and gating gear behind weekly content to keep players Subbed. In all honesty if they keep going down this road dedicated players will start looking else where. Numbers dont lie F2P games bring in far more money then sub mmos. There is a reason for this and that is the content itself keeps players coming back.
Lets look at Neverwinter. Its a fairly dated PC F2P mmo that was just brought to the PS4 a month or so ago. Its free so i gave it a shot. The graphics are dated but its not bad. But what really made me want to keep logging back in was the combat and gear system. Its pretty good. The combat system is definitely faster than FFXIV and you can have multiple paths per class. The stats are not generic like we have in FFXIV. You actually have to tailor your gear around the build you are going for. You have to rank up enchantments. You have to spec into the right stats and other stat building options to perfect your build. Skill Points actually mean something and really creates more freedom in the builds you want. You even have to put points into the battle skills you want to use just make them more powerful.
The combat system itself will keep you constantly striving to pinch out that extra bit of damage. you will always be respecing and testing different loadouts. Its not press 1, 2,3, 4 5 button combat system. You have cause and effects..... Do A before B then apply B to make C then charge C to scatter D then reapply A to prevent Z with other applications in between. Another brilliant application is you can actually dodge attacks and I dont mean just move out an AOE field.
Oh and one more thing worth mentioning about Neverwinter the Guild system is absolutely amazing. It forces you to make friends and be part of a community. Not only to level up your character in the Stronghold (open world area near your guild town) area where mobs are a real threat to u but to run events so you can get rewards that you turn in to the guild NPCs to help level up your guild.
So yea till I see FFXIV actually try to improve not only the content but also the gearing and combat systems I dont think I will be returning any time soon. Neverwinter is F2P with a pretty descent cash shop to spend that $15 FFXIV monthly Sub. It has a really fun combat system with some really fun content to boot. Anyways hope to come back but it will be up to the Devs.
Once you are LV60, there really is no reason to use Affluence. You're better off using Fortune + Rage if you really want to farm for coffers once you it 60.
I don't see what your level has to do with Affluence at all.Quote:

Being level 60 doesn't stop the desire for silver chests, particularly considering by the time you're 60 you are probably on the last stretch of floors where silver chests have the greatest chance of upgrades at higher gear levels.
My best F41-50 runs have been from premades, due to being able to bring 3 Fortunes and Affluences in from previous floors. It makes a big difference in potential gear yield.
You know something that might help you acquire those pomanders a bit more easily? That's right, Affluence.Quote:

Oh I'm dumb. I got alteration mixed with affluence. GG me
Yeah, looking back through the past few pages, I think you might not be the only one that did that XDQuote:

I'm pretty much in that same boat, I've pretty much decided to just take it slow and mostly wait for the next patch cycle to finish. Just cos if their is one thing I learned from SE over time, is that the next patch cycle will nerf anything RNG in the current patch cycle as the more hardcore players move on to the next RNG heavy content.
I think there was some talk regarding that back when people were running palace all day, back before SE tweeked the chest. Something of the sort that the higher your level is, the better chance the silver chest wont explode/ will give you a better chance at +1.
With all the sneaking, i dont think the new method can test this out correctly running even hundreds. Though the older runners pre-chest tweak might be able to clear this up.
I think this was one of the reasons why we wanted to kill most mobs.
People have come up with all sorts of mad theories about this event because it's absolutely crammed with RNG.Quote:

One of the worst I've seen was someone attempting to rush through the floors because supposedly it made it more likely to get better random floor effects, whereas taking too long would cause you to be more likely to get penalizing effects.
You just know that some of these people are the type that hold Up and B while doing a handstand every time they throw a Poke Ball.
So was Diadeam, now no one gives a hee-haw about it. This one will be the same.
I am just sad they try hard to make stuff and it just gets left in the dust within the next patch or less.
They gotta fix this stuff already. These side things they try to add just dies so badly.
You can only trial and error stuff so much before you can finally find what works...
ran into a dude who was like "how does the upgrades work? open one and hope for the best" considering i get high level upgrades from floors 1-10, maybe it really is just that. we all know what a ffxiv 97% gathering/crafting rate is like. I swear everything is 50/50 unless its guaranteed 100
I think there may be some truth to it tho.
Because if not, all you have to do is run into the dungeon, avoid things, and hey if your good, you can prolly go in nakkid geared >.>
Which, knowing SE and how they can make stuff excruciating, would not be as easy as just sneak, avoid, open chest, and hope for the best that it wont explode/fail
If i were a game developer, i certainly wouldnt make the most valuable chest a random fail/success just by opening it. I'd make sure there would be at least some criteria to a higher success rate.
On a side note, ive noticed alot of early evening parties tend to skip the mobs and sneak alot just opening chests.
The late nighters seem to earnestly kill more mobs and use the pomanders more.
Jus something i personally experienced on my runs.
Well this was their first go at the concept.
I expect floors 51+ to be more of a challenge and hopefully changed up a bit.
Still beats doing Roulettes to cap on tomes though. Well Palace and Aquapolis that is
Also on another note about those complaining about the RNG, for one it is much quicker then Relic and also a member in our FC has just returned recently, tried Palace and almost has his weapon already.
Perhaps just luck or maybe just maybe it's not so bad?
Mine took me sometime though :/
But i believe they increased the rate or something last patch
I totally agree that PoTD needs to be expanded upon, but to say the first 50 floors of the planned-to-be 200 floor dungeon 'broke' the game for you is ridiculous. Were you really planning to extend your subscription based on catch-up, newbie appealing content that's obviously designed with 2.x-tier players in mind??
PoTD, in the form it's in currently, is by far the best coop content in the game. It's the only thing that exists currently, outside of queuing for individual dungeons together, that you can actually do as a lvl 60 player to help a new friend/FC member catch-up to endgame. As a bonus, I'd say the express 1-60 progression is a really solid way to introduce players to the complexity of lvl 60 rotations and get them excited to actually push through the (tons) of content they need to complete to get to the end-game.
Think about Deep Dungeon from the perspective of someone trying to engage a new player and I think you'll see that this is much more successful than Diadem ever was, for example.
I hope that floors 100-200 are greatly expanded on, however, and include much more complex layouts and puzzles like you've mentioned. I just think people keep in mind what is probably the intended audience for what we have currently.
