Yeah, pretty much this. Risks are full of possibilities, so I don't mind seeing companies do so. But WoW...its fall from grace was not from taking too many risks. It was the devs adhering to their "vision" and no one else's, even as they lost millions of subs and millions upon millions of dollars.

Party Finder was the beginning of the end for World of Warcraft... Essentially making the world feel non existent as you can just que up for dungeons

Nah. That and DF weren't the beginning of the end. If that were the case, then this game was doomed from the very beginning. At this point, it's the only way to get things done sometimes in WoW, especially if you are on a dead server like mine, which was all but obliterated by the last two expansions.

Every single EW patch has had a dissapointment or issue, and I cant help but feel like its starting to snowball into the game's decline.

Yes we have party finder, but xiv 2.0 and on was designed around more than just that. In world of Warcraft, vanilla especially, it was all about exploring the world, partying with random players, adding them to your friends list. Dungeon needs were basically built around chat and meeting to get it done. They eventually implemented meeting stones which was nice.

The moment party finder was implemented, there was no need to socialize and communicate for dungeons in WoW.

And yet FF XIV managed and continues to manage just fine with the social aspect. That was not the problem with WoW, and it is not a problem here either. Its problems were and still are far and away from DF and PF.

I'm not sayimg that's a problem in final fantasy xiv, I'm saying that was the problem in WoW

Real talk. Given the guy has a family he can't feasibly get 100% invested in a MMO. MMO's require that you have very few obligations and Brian has too many. Plus the MMO formula FFXIV follows has been the same since 3.0 and has long since stagnated.

All content each patch in it's base form can be cleared within a day to a week.

Even raids for the more skilled players is being cleared in 2 weeks and the content is dead on arrival.

Only content that you can't do this on is timegated content or long barely rewarding grinds.

You really only have dailies to do everyday before you log off. It's no different then WoW world quests or daily challenges off a mobile game.
