This is perhaps the most ill educated post in this entire thread. Men can indeed be targets of sexism. It actually is pretty frequent. If you don't believe me, then it's because you have pretty much buried your head in the sand.

And the claim about men never getting offended by seeing guys in small outfits, are you kidding me? "Eww, yuck! I shouldn't have to see that on MY screen." "That's just disgusting!" These are the least of comments you see guys posting about anything even remotely revealing of male characters. Hell, you should have seen the whining about the swimsuits, and those are less revealing than these new pieces.

My eyes are offended every time I see a male in a slutty outfit....(jk... kinda) I would like to toss out there that it is possible to be sexist against men. It happens often enough. Sure women tend to get the short end of the stick sometimes but there are people who take the women's right thing so far that they want to see the rights of men suffer. We aren't living in the dark ages and I would rather not go back to that time so can we all just get along?

With that said If they remove this or change it what happens to the people who want to wear it? Males and females want this gear because of how it looks. Your willing to destroy their rights just cause you feel these outfits put females in a negative view? Perhaps you should play something else that's more to your taste cause SE has been doing these kinds of outfits for awhile and I don't think it'll change for you. It's a picture of an in-game character that represents data and thoughts put into it by a real person.

It's not about the objectification of women, it's about looking out of place with XIV's grounded fantasy aesthetic. It's one of XIV's best features, and I just don't want to see it ruined with mindless fanservice bikini armors, huge turn off for me. I felt the same way about the dumb reindeer suit.

I was denied a job at a movie theater for a morning shift. When I asked why the female manager with a tone said "It's a position reserved for mothers only." After 5 minutes it hit me after I left the movies, wait isn't that a sexist thing to say? What if I was a single dad? Was I bothered by it? I would prefer if they kept the really skimpy outfits to underarmor slots. Then at least I can look cool while I'm changing jobs!

But on a serious note, as a female, this armor does not offend me. It's a videogame. Of course there are going to be REALLY revealing outfits for both men and women alike. It's not like it has really good stats or anything. It's simply an aesthetic piece of gear that you can choose to wear if you'd like to. You're not being forced to wear it.

I would agree that this is a problem IF...

1. This was comparably one of the best pieces of armor in the game, thus forcing you to choose between wearing it or having worse stats.
2. Most of the female armor was incredibly skimpy or 'objectifying'.

This is not a good piece of armor, and most of the armor is tasteful. This is the only one that's really skimpy. I don't see this as being a trend in the future.

No #1: Sexism is about adopting a different standard between individuals based on their gender. Its not about who is offended or not. Both gender gets equally revealing gear ? Then i do not see any sexism in the sole appearance of the gear. Maybe you are refering to other people's behaviour around you ? Please calrify.

No #2: A popular campaign, whatever the amount of money it has is not relevant to this case, nor can it establish facts about FFXIV.

Long story short, Neomarl is one of those players that are unhappy no matter what SE gives them.

I like all this talk about exploitative attire... yet the person primarily complaining about it is playing a miqo'te, the most exploitive of the races (I'm lumping mithra in on that, too). Female only (until 2.0), suggestive emotes, second skimpiest (yet most suggestive) underwear, least covering armor (this is mostly mithra)... and they're complaining about the sultriness of two sets of armor? I don't see anything hypocritical about that one bit.

That said, the armor is rather tame compared to other new MMOs. Remember, most new MMOs also toss in such superfluous mechanics as breast physics and loosely flowing attire.
