I'm fine with store mounts. But this one feels wrong just like Chocobo Carriage. Both of does should have been in Gold Saucer for 5M MGP or more. Does beloved design a lot nostalgic to older players. Any other stuff in store no problem. But we asked for this for years... we didn't get it. But to late now anyway but still sad and dispointing.
The main issue is how iconic it is to the FFXIV lore, same goes to a lesser extent to the Odin mount and the Chocobo carriage. If you want to put in random panda's random birds, carbuncle mounts, random whales, by all means, be my guest. But I ask that you not take stuff from in the game, things that make up the game, and slap a price tag on them.
Side note, with all the new players I think this was a real missed opportunity to make it a mount that both newer and veteran players can work towards to bring them together.
you know your character isn't on the version in rival wings?
saying cruise chaser was "mostly done" also means all the models in this game are also closely done to becoming mounts but i don't see a ride-able zenos or Thancred anytime soon
I mean, that's how it works for apple, nintendo, sony or ms for example, so why wouldn't it work for squeenix?

also, whoever said 30$ isn't a lot of money to what ultimately amounts to a few pixels on the screen, should re-evaluate their lives if money is of so little value to them, and I sincerely hope these people will never endure financial hardships in their life
oh wait, I do
What even is this argument. Why would we get zenos or thancred mounts. The point is cruise chaser was mined for awhile as done. They easily could’ve made it an mgp reward. None of what you said changes the fact it’s an in game mount already with animations. It not like the other mounts where they had no in game model.
Gonna quote myself here from a few pages back:
In the past, I've participated in discussions about the Mog Station.Quote:
This is why I didn't want this to be a Mogstation evil thread - because that's another very messy can of worms.
I came from the era before WoW had a cash shop, like quite a number of people here. You bought the game and subscription and that was it.
Ideally for me, in a MMO where you b2p and pay a subscription, there should be no cash shop. Everything should be earnable in-game.
However, I've seen the arguments that MMO costs have gone up and partially accepted that the cash shop is a necessary evil. I'm fine with the cash shop selling things like the whale/peacock mount etc
The Cruise Chaser however is different. As others have pointed out, it's reusing in-game assets and could have been tied into in-game content.
Is this a slippery slope, where we see more in-game assets re-used in the cash shop in the future?
Maybe or maybe not.
I've come to partially accept that the cash shop is necessary with rising MMO costs.
Which is why I didn't put foward a discussion about the Mog Station as a whole.
However, with the Cruise Chaser mount - it's not something exclusively created for the Mog Station.
It's re-using in-game assets and something that could have been tied to in-game content.
Eden was already the savage reward from E12S. Cerebus is the reward from DR Savage.
Plus they have to finance paying above market rates for the new servers somehow. All money from Mogstation goes back into the game.
God, mgp? We need more mount farms outside of the Gold Saucer, if a mount is going to get added to the game not via the mogstation. I'm thinking general achievement rewards, healers could use mount achievements for example. I would much preferred cruise chaser specifically elsewhere, if not the mogstation.
Honestly, I don't know how anyone can get themselves through any of that "content".
For me, I have been playing this game for a long time (1,500 days) and beat Cruise Chaser a few times as well. I don't really see the problem with putting this on the Mogstation, besides if everybody wants to complain about it then what about other mounts or Phial of Fantasia. I understand this should be as a Achievement or something but at the same time, Japan is still in the State of Emergency as right now and some of workers still have to work from home with limited resources (with the Lambda and Delta over there, its going to get worst before it gets better), so if I have to dole out 30.00 to help them, i will gladly because I enjoyed this game even with all of the warts that is there.
Don’t you dare guilt trip like that! wtf? Limited resources yet had the perfect amount to add More to the mog station? Much less a Raid boss? I don’t feel pity and I highly doubt they are lacking funds due to the recent Exodus happening. And since the summer event has been remarkably more shallow than usual it adds a very disgusting taste in my throat
I don’t condone this type of bootlicking, what next we gonna do a #ThankYouSquareEnix?
But that is the thing cash shops are not mandatory there are other options. I rather give my money to SE putting stuff in the game than outside the game. We were never asked. We just got forced with the mog station. I would happily pay $30 a month/sub if that is what needs to be, but I would want actual numbers. I like SE, I like SE games, I don't like microtransactions I think it competes against the game's development. To me, it comes down to the principle. Just give me the best product you can give me @ a price point you need or thinks it deserves. If it is worth it, you will get my money if not then you won't. Currently, there is not a lot to choose from and they will continue to get my money, but if an MMORPG comes out with a no microtransaction guarantee then I am gone.
See, most of you all missed the point. It's not that people don't want for mog station to be completely removed. They are disappointed because CC is raid boss, and quite iconic too. We all know fantasia is profitable and we're okay with it. Same with non in-game mount/glam, and dye.
Yet SHB has been noticeably shallow compared to SB content wise. No Deep dungeons, only one ultimate, Eureka has more zones (quality debatable) still zero PvP weapons and less armor from PvP in general how many DNC and GNB weapons are their again? Less dungeons and I’m sure someone can nitpick more
More like nobody can help YOU, since you're being stubborn.
FFXV did well, sales wise. It's in third place in terms of sales, behind 7 and 10 (4th if you also include 14). This sales number hasn't included dlc and paid items etc. Some of the old FF fans may not like it, but it's liked by others and newcomers/casual fans. When royal edition was released, I know not few people who already have the ps4 version+all dlc buy it again too.
Another interesting thing, recently ffbe (the mobile gacha) did a series popularity poll. You want to know the result? First place is ff7, second is 15, and third is 13. So yeah, 15 is doing well.
I dont think it is bootlicking at all, they are trying to continue to push out content for us or maybe you would be cool with waiting for six months. BTW, most of those exodus is using the free trial right now. I am not guilt trip them at all.
I rather pay 30.00 for a mount versus 89.95 plus tax for only 167 SQ (mobile game).
Also I lose family members to this and got many friends in Japan with it as well. So don't you dare say it is a guilt trip.
How is this content? You swipe your card you obtain a mount. This is a digital item that is half the cost of the game expansion itself. That is worth 2 times your sub. Some people 3 times. I guess you stating that we wont get anymore content without this $30.00 mount or endwalker wont come out?
The content is doing great. I am starting to doing tanking again, I have not did tanking since Ragnarok Online (GC Crusader) in 2003/2004 (before I went to WoW) and its awesome. I am only need one more FR to get my motorbike and I want to get my crafting tool relics before Endwalker. Because I want to get my crafters level to 90 for making raid gear.
At the end of the day, regardless of what side of the augment you are on, it is up to the person if they want to the Mount or not and we have to respect their decision no matter what. Besides there is other great mounts in this game and some of the them is hard to get (Morbal) and it is on the game not on the Mogstation. But to each its own.
Also it's a lot for a MOUNT regardless, for example, Hades is launching on PlayStation for $24.99. Guardians of the Galaxy by the same SQEX is $60 and it seems people act like they invested on this mount half the money and man-power of what they'd invest in a brand new $60 game, okay...
Funny thing is even a lot of F2P games will at least let you grind to earn an item you can instantly buy on their cash shop. FFXIV doesn't even give you a choice but to hand them even more money.
I used to believe that this game was a product of passion, that the aim was to create a really good game, that was the objective, and profit was just a means of sustaining it.
But, looking at this, and and of the other stuff, I'm not so sure...
There is a difference in making money as a company or making money at all cost.
Customers know their sellers. If the company gets too greedy you do not feel welcomed anymore.
Bad example EA. They tried to squeech every penny out of you. It would let me stop buying stuff from Square Enix, if they are getting greedier like them.
Trust can be a tricky thing with video game companies.
Sometimes you don't know what is going on behind the curtain on why they make these decisions.
Throwing my voice in, not that much will change. While I don't have an issue with the Mog Station in of itself, the presence of Cruise Chaser in the Mog Station does rub me the wrong way. This is a really cool boss with an awesome song, and I think it should have been an in-game unlockable. I'd rather the cash shop team focused on making original content for the Mog Station instead (at least as far as Mounts and whatnot are concerned).
Small indie company, please understand.
I understand that this is a joke, but man MMO's are insanely expensive to not just develop new content for, but also to maintain.
I don't blame them for putting what ultimately are cosmetics on the mog station. Good profit from the game means, hopefully, more funds going to
good new content for the game.
