It does help, because not everyone is triggered by the same things. One person can get sick to their stomach from seeing X while another person with the condition is fine. I'm not bothered by the honeycombs in the game, for instance, but others are. Others are fine with the monk chakra icon, but it bothers me to look at it and makes me uncomfortable. So people were affected by this enough that they gave feedback and changing it will help those who had that negative of a reaction. I'm sure if Endwalker was already released and they couldn't change it, either they would have apologized for not being able to change it or figured out something else if they could. It just happens they were currently in a place where they could make the edit.

While not a visual thing, a reminder JP players also did complain about the GNB sound effects and those were changed, despite ShB already being out.

So they 100% can change things already put in.

I honestly don't know so I won't speak to that. The game is playable in several regions sometimes with their own social media and forums of choice, in several languages not all of us speak or read so it gives a warped view of who's asking for or complaining about what exactly.

this should be the main take away for most people if they want something changed: switch to any JP DC, autotranslate your complaints and get it upvoted and you have a decent chance of it happening

While I can understand that it's a much easier change, I'm still godsmacked that this was an accessibility change while they continued to make the Nier Alliance Raids the most eye-straining experience possible well after having to change the brightness of Mt Gulg for the same reason.

I don't think I've ever had a problem with either one of those instances being too bright since they've been out. Not calling foul on anyone, just never knew that was a problem.

There were a couple of threads on here when Tower came out, but a few friends and I (who are equally visually impaired in different ways) joke about how getting Tower is the real dead que. I have trouble seeing values of similar hues so all of Copied Factory looks like this to me:

The noise was loud enough for the original Mt Gulg, which was a very similar thing to Tower currently. They dimmed it and corrected values on textures to where it is now good for most everyone. I haven't been on here in about a year and a half so I missed those threads, but that is interesting, thank you for clarifying.

While the change is so minor to something im barely gonna pay any attention to, it does point out if your in JP or the JP forums you have 1000x more chance of getting a fix then EN. I feel bad for the other small languages that don't get the same treatment as JP because EN have a large enough playerbase to force SE on severe issues. Pretty sure you could start an organ...

I'm not photosensitive but Mt Gulg when it came out was just blindingly bright. I couldn't see the ground AoEs half the time because of it. I still have trouble on some of them. For truly photosensitive people, it was a nightmare.

Do not remind me of that horror. I could barely do anything when it was like that, I got hit by almost everything because I could not see the AoEs.

I don't care about the icon enough to be like CHANGE IT, and if it was a problem causing fear and disgust don't mind that it changed in the first place though hopefully there is a certain level of ... stubbornness...? on elements that are more important (like when it gets into story, it wouldn't do because someone is like "colonialism makes me feel uneasy, remove it - don't tell positive nor negative stories about it!"). I think on UI it should be a bit more bendable, then gameplay (important to take feedback, but also careful not to 180 the ship without very careful thought to every person's whim), and then story being the least likely to be like "that made you feel weird? I guess we remove it" (though again feedback should still be received, always be knowledgeable). So I don't think it was bad to adjust here, just taking a note off Theo's post and thinking that perhaps there is a hierarchy of where changes are made that cause greater or lessor concern (UI making as many pleased seems like good, but... good story might have some uncomfortable moments and I'd hate to see that hyper sanitized, yet I get the feeling SE isn't going to do that and I hope I'm not wrong lol). Not that SE does it, but of course I wouldn't want it so far opposite of sanitization that I need to cry myself to sleep every night.. which then begs the question and absolute joy and terror that is of opinions lol.....

Though of two notes- I liked the first one over the new one, and I did want to say while it doesn't ultimately matter to me.. I do like these more uniform ones more.

I feel ya. I tried to avoid that dungeon like the plague because of the same thing. I still have issues when tanks big pull to the demon walls because the line AoEs still blend in for me as well as AoEs on the final boss. I've gotten it three times in recent weeks and had to apologize to my party each time when I just ate things without realizing it. But it was just awful when it first came out. May as well have spent my entire run on the floor for all the good it did trying to dodge.

It's less the disagreeing and more the way people are discussing those with the actual phobia. You can disagree with the reasoning all you like, but some of the comments made me feel really bad for people who actually have this issue.

I agree, I like how they made one of the shapes look like both a sages staff and a blast beam from the middle robotic Noulith that fly's around the sage.

There's often one "fanboy" character moment in a JRPG, no matter how dark it is. Look at Tales of Zestiria, Sorey (the lead) fanboys over a lot of stuff the entirety of the game, even at the end of the game.

As for the plot armor, I suspect that's coming to an end. The Japanese VA for Thancred mentioned on Twitter that it feels like the end, and he's not sure how it can continue. Considering it's the VA for him...it's possible we're about to see consequences and characters being lost.

As of right now, the JP thread where this issue originated has only 159 likes on the OP. I've used accessible translators to get the gist of what some posts are talking about (especially the ones with comparably high "likes"). The one with 75 likes (Halford) says they like the current job icon and didn't want it changed (no idea how they feel about the remade icon now). Another poster (TamaTuyu, with 100 likes) brought up the point that it's a little unrealistic to try to design something with all things in mind...

Anywho, I'm curious to know if the inverse has ever happened where something was altered based-off NA requests that was completely off the radar for JP?

I'm fine with it being changed since apparently it was a trigger for some people. The new one looks fine. Doesn't bother me.

How many more things will be changed for some minor trigger, 3 holes in a job icon and they mess it up for that new garbo. Sad!

I don't like it. It doesn't fit in anymore with all the other job icons. If you look at them closely you will notice that they are all very geometrical feeling with sharp strong angles and a very defined sense of position. This feels cutesy and the diagonals introduced make it feel sloppy. It looks more like a magical girl symbol you would see on a gemstone in a cheesy anime made to sell merchandise than an actual job symbol.

If it makes you feel better, here is a thread by someone who is afraid of whales and wants to be able to change the display of other people's mounts. It's from 2018 and that function hasn't been implemented, but they have added another whale mount since then.

Always someone who get offended, they shouldn't changed it imo.

I'm fairly certain that same-sex marriage was a big push on the side of NA. That was implemented even though at the time it was quite a controversial topic in the world.
