The NPC during Steps of Faith essentially told you that your attacks will amount to naught against Vishap, even though it's pretty damn essential because cannon fire and dragonkillers alone won't make up the damage needed. There's also no indicator of the second and third set of DKs requiring a snare aside from trial and error (combine that with a forced 10-mnute fight duration before a reset)
What I'm surprised about was that they didn't foresee people doing this kind of "kick me" / intentionally wiping floor 50 / afking on floor 49 crap instead, as a result of not openly showing them a way to not save their progress after a boss... but I really shouldn't have been surprised because foresight is apparently a rare commodity nowadays.Quote:

It's one thing for someone to go ahead and complete a dungeon they don't need so that their other party members don't get screwed over, but it's a whole other thing entirely to expect someone to still do the same thing when it will also screw themselves over in the process.
It's by far the most boring piece of content we've probably had in the entire history of the game so far.It's almost as bad as doing fates or grinding Diadem.However i'm just going to ignore this part of the game and focus on more fun things.
I could go on and on about complaints about this dungeon,the fact that players don't work together and have 0 respect for the tanks.But the way i look at it we got a great patch before this one with weeping city and nidhog and all the other stuff.Palace of the dead just seems like a filler patch to gear people with better weapons for the next wave of actual game content.I guarantee within a month or 2 this dungeon will be long forgotten and very inactive.
Please make it so we get at least one legit silver chest in 41-50. Nothing like wasting your time to only get one silver (even with fortune buffs!) and it ending up being a trap. Thankfully the group chose to vote abandon rather than save that worthless trip.
I'd be happy if the silver chests that weren't traps guaranteed at least a point. They're rare enough, and nothing's more frustrating than getting a legit chest, but your gear doesn't go up at all.
Maybe they should've made it 50/50, but none of this "oh, it may not work" crap.
A friend I pulled over from WoW (who does not post on these forums) brought this issue up in a recent conversation:
That because Palace of the Dead is a singular dungeon that one can use to go from low level straight to level cap is going to cause a larger demand for story skipping things to be implemented because people would rather spend money to skip the story than run the story, especially since they are already at the level cap from running Palace of the Dead all the time. That its going to create the same spiral that has dragged WoW down.
The story in this game can get incredibly tedious, especially when it's required to be done to progress through expansions. Especially the 2.1 questline that contains a lot of fluff that artifically extends the time spent in the post-50 game but pre-heavensward. It's that difference from WoW that I feel they need to nesstiate some trimming or abridging of the story for the game to be new-comer friendly, especially in regards to the expansion.
Though honestly, I'm not sure if they wanted PotD to be another means to level up an alt class, or another means to level up in general. It certainly should not be the latter, but from what I hear you can still gain full access to your skills as you gain in-dungeon levels, even if you previously have not learned them or did the quest for them.
I quite like the concept, have been soloing it because I think it makes it a more interesting proposition. It also reminds me of the older solo games, so a bit of nostalgia. I'm not nuts about the chest RPG - and I would like to see the return work for solos as well - ie, after a KO you are returned to the last one you activated.
Is it possible to see the weapon/armor stats outside of the palace?
I know some of you are disappointed, but I like it :o. Maybe i'm just glad they finally added something that wasn't daily/weekly. Something we can keep doing over and over. That being said, lets hope whatever they add next will better meet your expectations.
I've lost track of all the PotD threads I've posted in. Anyway, this should have been a more involving experience. The first time, it's a novelty, and then you do it again and it's not as fun as the first, and then when you realize you need to do it a good three to five more times to get your i235 weapon, then it becomes a major chore. Also, the randomization aspect isn't really that fun after a while. Rooms are all the same, just in different layouts. Mobs are all the same, just in different spawn points. If that's randomization, then I could have the same effect doing a normal dungeon backwards (if I could start from the last boss and work through the to the entrance).
I have good news! Just managed to get an upgrade from 29/30 to 30/30 somewhere between floors 21-24. They truly have fixed the issue that made people want to farm the last floors.
You're grasping at straws trying to make this seem like it's amazing content... And these reason really only apply to someone soloing which is not the majority of people playing.
They could have done so many things to make this completely random and interesting content. A tonberry chasing you on floor 33, then the next floor is a bomb that will explode in 5 minutes and wipe if you don't get to the next floor, etc.
Things like that could have made it challenging and interesting. But fighting the same mobs with traps here and there on EVERY SINGLE FLOOR is a lot cooler. And please don't bring up the floor enchantments. Most of them aren't even a hassle to deal with except the ability one.

Armor can't be used outside the dungeon itself, it's weapon only.
If you're talking about progression wise, the only time you can see what stats you have on your armor/weapon, go to the npc click enter the palace of the dead, take a look at the blue window that opens up.
It would not surprise me if armour was going to be the aim for lvls 51-200. Anyway, we will see.
Now to the recent changes in PotD:
They have improved things, but people are still leaving at lvl 49 even though they would get the boss +1/+1.
Happened earlier today with someone who had got nothing lvls 41-49 - they just quit.
The fact that rng is there means we will still get people deserting groups if they have not got the amount of arm/gear lvls they where hoping for.
I'm disappointed with it, I'd hoped it would be more and less of yet another grind from SE. I was hoping for more of a Nyzul Isle type place tbh. I don't know if it's even worth spamming because I don't see the rewards atm worth the time and grind.
I really just hate the RNG part. I could see if the +1/+1 thing happened on 40 and 50 but the fact that I'm still on 27/30 after whats now 8 full runs has gotten old.
Example of today and yesterday. Its just not fun to be at 26, get nothing on the floors 1-49 but hey the 50 boss gives +1/+1 to get to 27. Do a run up to 41 and still not another upgrade so now I'm farming the boss again to get myself to 28/30. That's just downright terrible.
Floor 1-10 is 16min
Floor 11-20 is 20min
Floor 21-30 is 25min
Floor 31-40 is 30-40min depending on if groups bypass stuff.
Floor 41-50 is 35-50 depend on the group.
That means I've now wasted several hours just to get +1 since I only get it on the 50 boss. wtf. I might as well do what other players do and just abandon until I get something good because having to farm the lower levels which I know won't get me anything is terrible.
Ya without reading up on it. I thought it was going to be like some horde mode. I do like the lvling part on it.... Since i took a break and have a few left over jobs. Doing it with my fc friends with ts while talking/goofing of made it more fun. It is missing something to it.. Not great, not piss poor for me. Its meh
I feel Deep Dungeon has a good foundation to build upon. What I'm hoping is the next tier of floors will focus more on objectives, traps and possibly mini bosses to keep things fresh. Releveling was fun this go around, but I'd be lying if I said floors 1-20 (even 21-30) become increasingly tedious the more I run them.
You can get upgrades from floor 21 onwards. I know because I went from 29/30 to 30/30 between floors 21 and 24. It's just a matter of luck. But if you reset progress you have 20 more floors to try your luck with than if you just did 41-50 again.
Nice! Yeah the odds are the best the higher you go but IMO it's still stupid to give up so many chances for upgrades and throw away the work for 41-49 if one doesn't happen to get the exact amount of upgrades they needed that time. Using IcyNeko's clear times it took me less time to get to floor 24 where I noticed the upgrade than it would have been to clear floors 41-50 again.
Upgrades anywhere is possible now. I hit a +30 on floors 1-10. In fact, it was even a +3 upgrade ("Your aetherpool armor flares...")
But yeah, odds are still best on 41-50, and guaranteed +1 on the boss is not going to make some people give up crappy 41-49 runs, just as I predicted.
Those run times are pretty long, I guess people still killing everything and not just hunting chests?
Majority of the primal data center just skips and kills what aggros. Very rarely do I run into a kill all group after 21 now-a-days and run times are cut significantly.
This place is nice for leveling, went 50 NIN and 50 DRG to 60 with however this content has been out, this has got me two padjali weapons in the process, 5 mil worth of materia, and some funny screenshots.
all of this done while playing this super casually cause of life stuff, but it's all perception. I use this content as a means to level alts, save myself from the amazing gear clutter dungeon running gives me, and some nice bonus rewards to go with my new 60, I have taken a small break though to gear my NIN in Proto-midan gear but this last bolt...
Recently it feels like its become the Palace of the Sneak.

Before it use to be so busy w/ cleric stance and you learned hella lot of multitasking.
Now its like... Cleric Stance? Nawwwwwww...
These first 50 lvls are an introduction that's all. The better test of Deep Dungeon will be how it develops from here on in.
I'll be surprised if it's not added to DF for later levels, as the increasing difficulty will probably demand a standard group format.
Even so, Yoshi P has stated that not all players will be able to get to 200 due to the difficulty escalation.
With this increasing difficulty I'm hoping for a change to the wipe mechanics at later levels, making it similar to dungeons or at least giving the group a 'one more go' mechanic at this boss/level.
There's been lots of suggestions put forward by the playerbase, and hopefully the next stages will see some of these.
when everyone hits 60 and youre racing the clock it better be a sneak im serious! what are you gaining from killing mobs and staking more time up for completion? I bet most of these people have cleared and have some ptsd potd donts in their head. dont no 1 : dont split from party - realty: first 20 floors youre probably ok. last 30? probably a death wish, maybe a full wipe.
you can get to F41 with around lv 58-60 at the start of F41 and then to 60 in F45 or so killing most if not all mobs,
with ample time left over for boss, a good 20min or so, and that not being a perfect group :O
Thats what we did before they tweeked the silver chest rate and we had to run HUNDREDS just for a single weapon if our luck was crap.
somehow the newer runners seem to have a hard time accomplishing this.
For example I use to be able to Cleric stance up until F41, where after F41 you dont want it cause circumstances can change from good to awful in a blink.
(I like to be on the safe side. maybe super healers can do it)
But lately i cant even cleric stance in the lower levels cause they soak up so much dmg =/
From playing now and then, i feel there is a significant difference in, at least in healer point of view,
how busy you are (cause they use to kill everything, we were used to being super focused busy)
Killing all + traps etc spawns with ample time were a tiny challenge in itself.
If there is lv 200s added in the future, i have some doubts the newer methods can go through this smoothly past floor 50 if its so laid back as it is now.
I doubt the future levels will be NON hectic, and 90% of the current runners are already having problems
And yes it is severely laid back playstyle compared to before.
once u are 60 there is no reason to kill anything ....so whats going to change in 50-200? because we are going to sneak everyhting after hitting 60
would you really use affluence after level 60? any more chance of mimics is suicide at that level, they cant even be stunned from infatuate. hey SE i want a to give an enemy a 10 min bleed debuff on one of my dps jobs n the future, also paralyze its fair enough for pve why shouldnt we get that?
Edit: SAM gets 10 min bleed debuff we all wi. good for pvp even after they die its still there forever ticking death.
You make it seem like affluence is actually a deterrence if its a mimic.....

Thats pretty much the diff. of now and then i was talking about. Stuff that was a non issue before, people have problems with now.
And in the future we will have harder levels.
There's ways to force you to kill mobs.
1.) chests can drop from trash.
2.) you can have 2-3 mobs transfer to new rooms, then wait a bit, then repeat. This would make you want to kill them so they don't sneak up on you.
3.) new objective/mechanics could have you doing so.
But yah, ANYTHING you can skip, you probably will want to lol
Actually lets get back to pox as a whole, theres no reasona debuff that can only be cleansed by a random chance item that has no high regard drop rate should ever last that long. ever. make it esuna/leeches/detrimental whatever or understand not any or most parties ever have a party, reduce it to 2-3 min tops, its an extremely unfair debuff for every pary comp since it cant even be cleansed from a healer
