Now you are starting to sound condescending. You are not the only person who goes to school full time and also has a job. 6/8 of my ifrit group goes to school full time or works full time and the others have a balance of both. You are no different than any other player. So, why do we have to treat you as different when the problem really is that you just don't want to try.
Go bore somebody else with your issues. You are being incredibly annoying.
Well, I apologize for the condescending tone. It wasn't meant to come off as that - I'm not the best at knowing what I'm saying, so people have a tendency to take things I say the wrong way.
I don't want to be treated any different. I simply want more options to choose from the content to shape my gameplay experience in FFXIV.
Well, that is content designed specifically for hardcore players, something you didn't want to see.
Asking for an Easy mode for this content is kind of laughable though. Players simply need to get used to it after being used to doing nothing.
There are no better alternatives, so while it is not perfect it is the best we can have until someone figures out something better. That hardly makes it bad, even while acknowledging it's limitations. Having the cake and eating it too is utopistic thinking.Quote:
Yes, I'm open to the idea of waiting, but it's not going to stop me from being critical of what I see as bad game design in an advancing genre.
why don't you just admit to being a terrible player and find another game
I stated several times in the past that the loots would be weighted depending on the difficulty level. The top tier encounter would grant the primal-specific equipment, while the inferior encounters would only drop crafted gear (like Cobalt Haubergeon or Hart Guisarmes, for example).
"I'm a terrible player and I should go find another game!"
There, how about that? Actually, I've had my eye on Guild Wars 2 for some time, for a wide variety of reasons:
1. It's going to be feature-rich at launch.
2. It will have scaling difficulty options for players, allowing them to choose if they want to go balls-out hardcore, or take it easy like a casual.
3. It's Buy-Once, Play-Free, with the exception of expansions.
4. TAVERN BRAWLS! Chuck a keg at someone, smash a beer bottle over someone's head, shank a third guy with the remains of the bottle. Perfect way to decompress after a few hours of hardcore-difficulty raids.
Not too much different from what I'm trying to advocate for Final Fantasy XIV. I've had the opportunity to playtest GW2 at Penny Arcade Expo 2011, and believe me when I say this: Star Wars The Old Republic looks like a baby ferret in diapers compared to GW2. I'm not even joking.
The point of me mentioning Guild Wars 2 here is to illustrate the fact that some MMORPGs are being designed with a forward-thinking mindset that caters to all demographics: PVP, Hardcore Endgame, Casual Endgame, etc.
This is the kind of thinking XIV's developers need to adopt.
I'm down with that. :)
Did read it, I appreciate what he says, but I feel as though the way he implemented the Ifrit fight did not really dovetail with his statements. Hopefully, after 1.21 it will shape up to be more in line. I will be patient.
Alright, it's about time for me to sign off for the night. I must prepare for the coming week, and I thank those who were civil and respectful in this thread.
And to our Moderators and GM's: I know I'm a tough customer on these forums, and I hope you'll be tolerant with me as you sift through this threadnaught for violations of the ToS. I believe that being open, honest, and flexible is important to building a long term respect for your supporters and detractors. Some people I may disagree with here on this thread, are people I still respect for their willingness to engage me on the issues presented in this thread.
And with that, I bid everybody a good night.
I freaking hate the ifrit fight. It is way to easy and is not very fun after you learn the fight. It is so boring I feel like I would be better off grinding out materais than farming duplicate ifrit weapons. Now the ifrit encounter did bring some enjoyability to the game for about a week.
Um no offense but you really need to stop whining. I was a casual end-gamer in fffxi. It took me hours of patience to get my dalmatica/heca set/black belt/ and 6 jobs fully merited and geared. I was not the first on the server to have any of those I played when I could for the 8 years I played the game. I work and go to school full time so it is not a matter of time it is a matter of skill and patience that is what MMOs are about. Slowly working up to your ultimate goal.
Making the Ifrit fight easier is just ridiculous. Faf/Nidd, Ada/Aspid, Behe/King Behe, Tiamaat, Jormy, Kirin, Sky/Sea Gods and ToAU kings/ Odin were by no means easy but it took them 5+ years to enter all this content in and guess what they were all beat even pandemonium warden and absoulte virtue. No content is unbeatable but all content is not meant to be beaten by every player. If you want that go play WoW. If you wanna have a sense of accomplishment when you get that piece of gear gear after repeated failures or wins and it drops then stick to this game.
ATM Ifrit = all of the aforementioned bosses. There is a lack of content but that isn't Yosi-P's fault. He has just put his park under construction and him and the dev team are doing their job in revamping this game from the ground up. There is more content to be added each patch and some will be easy and some will be hard. I don't think a primal should go down easy they are Gods after all.... (and you cant really scale down a god if you don't want to ruin lore) just my 2 gil...
Player: Yooooshiiiidaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Ifrit's toooo haaaarrrrddd.
Dev Team: (to yoshida) Hey so this guy wants a third variation of the fight where he's just a little bit harder than the R25 version of the fight and he doesn't want it to drop any loot.

Richard_BG, somehow I wonder if that would really be his reaction. And you're a little bit off: I don't want the additional option to be slightly harder than R25, but rather, slightly "easier" than R50...
P.S. A little something I thought was appropriate for the incredible size of this thread: Thread started at 6:52PM Pacific, accumulated 296+ posts in 4 hours. I feel guilty for the very fact that they will have to sift through all of this in the morning to look for any offending posts that violate the ToS.
I wonder what our moderators are thinking about that kind of postcount in such a short time frame...here's what I imagine their reaction being like...I hope you guys get a kick out of this.

In case the mods didn't understand what I was trying to say here, I'm apologizing for the workload I've created for them.
R50 is no harder than R25. So... ┐('~`;)┌
Bragging about being 2nd is pretty hilarious, btw.
Wait... did the OP just try to say Ifrit is hard?
Well, it might be the hardest fight in the whole franchise!
Honestly it has been an hard fight, but as all things in the life, when u got the point you can repeat and repeat and do it again.
It's nothing like a Dynamis or Limbus ofc, but it's not supposed to be... It's like fighting Kraken for the KC... Not so difficult so far.
Those are cool content that are supposed to take players some time while new patches and evolution of the story take place.
Question:
Why dont you just play the game and have some fun with friends? (if you have any)
This is supposed to be Endgame content. Not for the casual player. The casual and regular players should look up to the veteran gamers to aspire to complete this content. Too Hard? Play more.
Funny thing is I think most of the people here who are saying that Ifrit can be easily beat probably didn't beat him legitimately by having a DoL in the party who just wristflick-stunned Ifrit over and over again so he couldn't move.
Ifrit can be beaten the way the fight is now, just not easily and not without getting some blood on your nose first.
This is the biggest troll thread ever! LOL
Ifrit is easier than batraal was when he came out! 1/2 my server already has 7/7 weapons.
Ifrit is not hard once u practice it. Just takes a little work.
Yeah stop whining, i had a hard time killing ifrit but i finally got it, you know how does it feel?
Accomplishment!!! i feel the game is getting better you can actually feel proud of beating something as a linkshell, had to make your own tactics, learn the fight, coordinate and finally beat Ifrit.
Thats a good thing you know? or you want everything handed over to you?
I know there are a few problems with lag, but i think they fixed those, because i didnt had any trouble at all after the tiny patch.
If you're not "a hardcore player that likes insane challenges" why are you so bothered about obtaining an Ifrit weapon anyway?
Geeze, OP is gonna hate the Moggle... He is supposed to be harder.
All what you need for Ifrit is a good static party, where everyone know his part in the fight and training.
After you killed Ifrit once it will be much easier the next times. The only one who need good equip is the tank. And MP+ and Enmity- materia for the mages.
i agree on point 1 and 4 but..seriusly...whe asked for challenging content, now we have challenging content and you ask iwin button ? Get a grip
Game just needs more core content that supports hardcore but can be done by any class. The also one of the problems is the length of the content is too short and can be repeated too easy.
Id like to see 3hour waiting period raid that can take many types of set ups.
Game isnt even supported well in content yet. The chocobo escort is a good idea but the grand comapnies dont support it as well as they should.
We need to see some awsome gear come from grand company shops and raise the cap for seals and raise the amount of seals you can earn.
Materia Melding+1 keyitem 40000seals
Spirtbond+3 ring 10000seals
Chocobo Armor 8000seals
Ra/ Weapons that can equip materia on 14000seals
Flag Costume 4000seals
Grand Company only crafting materials 3000/8000/13000seals
BCNM type keyitems to enter battlefield zones 15000seals
Exp DoW Scrolls 3000seals (10000exp)
Grand Company Nation Materia (Materia thats helps kill there beasttribes)
Teleport NPC (100seals) (200seals) (300seals)
I love how everyone's answer to the problems are to further balkanize the playerbase into even smaller groups. Circle-jerking is fun, huh guys?
