Anyone that considers 12.99 a month fine dining pricing needs to re-evaluate their spending priorities.

That's absolutely correct (not the part about me enjoying McDonald's, the second part :P). And if they did start charging dining prices, I simply wouldn't go. What I also wouldn't do is complain that if they just cut their prices in half, it would be worthwhile for me. This thread isn't about not being able to afford the subscription fee; it's about not paying it on principle. If the game is only worth half the asking price, it's not worth arguing over. I'm going to keep saying it until you try to tell me otherwise, at which point maybe the conversation can actually progress instead of being caught in the same nonsensical arguments.
You don't feel it's worth that much money, fine. That's a completely respectable position. The idea that it's only worth half the money you're supposed to be paying, while somehow being worth so much of your time (level 50 or not) playing it - not to mention complaining about the price - is not.
If the game is only worth half the asking price, it's not worth arguing over.
I'm not exactly sure what playing the game has to do with that, but if you must know, yes. :)
These comments of yours make less and less sense the further along this debate goes. You should consider the five minute rule. Write out your post, walk away for five minutes, and then read it again to make sure you actually want to post that. Or therapy works too.
i wouldnt pay 20 a month for ANY MMO
and thats the point, almost every MMO out there charges 15+ for their monthly
we wont be paying 15 a month, we will likely be doing 10-12
so we are already on a discount of sorts by the standards and people at this point just want more
but thats normal too, players always want MORE, they dont care about the cost of the developers and companies making these games, its all entitlement anyway(not just with mmos but with everything)
I'd pay either one but this is a good idea
Like I said, I already own animal crossing, I dont need to pay a subscription for that.
actualy most people in my position would think its not worth it since they have even less to do now
i enjoy the game immensely therefore i will pay what is considered a LOW ammount compared to other MMOs
i pay for what i enjoy, i dont choose what i enjoy based on its price
Not only do you pay for what you enjoy, you tell other people what they do or do not enjoy and tell them they have to pay for it. [Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.]
They are giving a free trial for the same reason any MMO gets thirty days of game time or free trials. So people can try the game, in this case re-try on re-release, and see if they want to continue to sub. They are also doing the same thing for us here now. Once 1.20 comes, you will have your time to see if it is now worth it to you. And if it's not, you don't turn back on your sub until 2.0 gets here.
This is not rocket science.
That arguement is a huge contradiction wynn
wait? im telling people what they should and shouldnt do? really?
isnt that exactly what your doing.
what im saying is what people will do
they will pay if they enjoy the game
they wont pay if they cant afford the game(in which case how much they enjoy it means squat cuz they couldnt afford it even at 1 dollar probly)
they wont pay for it if they weernt playing to begin with(alot of th whiners on this forum qualify under this)
they wont pay for it if they never planned on paying for it to begin with(the rest fall here)
never have i demanded people pay for the game
i also have not told people that they must enjoy the game if they enjoy it fine, thats on them, but if they are enjoying the game, they arent gonna be the ones whining the hardest about the price point "unless" they cant afford the game period and rely on it being f2p in order to play
and in the end, alot of people just want a discount for discounts sake, it has nothing to do with anything else but that one simple fact, they want more for less
Although I don't have a problem with spending less I sincerely hope they ignore this thread. If they reduced the price then in a few months we will most certainly have the same discussion. Only this time people will ask how SE justifies the sudden increase if they managed to fund the game AND it's "rerelease" with just $5 monthly.
People will always try to find ways to pay less for whatever they want, regardless of how much they actually want it. That's why so many people (including me) exploit low currency conversion rates :P.
Some of you have played the game for a year now and were never charged anything for it (except for the few retail price which caved pretty quickly too). So just cut the devs some slack and give them their money ;). Sure it's not our fault the launch was messed up, but wasn't it punishment enough for SE to have them fund the MMO and it's further development for a whole year without getting a buck for it in return?
They could've pulled the plug at any point to minimize their losses, but they didn't. And for that kind of self-destructive stubborness I gladly pay my 12.99€ :).
Btw I wish it were just 12.99$ for me. But as an european the monthly fee actually is ~18$, because SE converts 1$:1€ instead of using the actual conversion rate. So there you have it US boys, you already got your discount. Hope you're happy now :P.
Your paying for the Current state of the game, Forget that 2.0 exist for a moment here. I recall ALOT of people saying that when Jobs comes out aka: 1.21 1.20= Groundwork. that they would Gladly start paying for the fee then, as then MOST of the people would enjoy the game @ 1.21 in its current state.
I remember that clear as day. While 1.21 is only a few months away, and there Charging at 1.20 ( which is close to being Launch worthy) so why not start now?
BUT, all of a sudden when 2.0 gets Realized.. it makes 1.0 a crappy game magically? the ONLY thing that's not getting put into the new world.. is the "ONE-TIME EVENTS" most of everything else will be in version 2.0. AND 2.0 Isn't a New game, and Yoshi-P has stated this Numerous of times! Its more like a.... Major Expansion that's Equivalent to 3 Expansions ( at least to me. 1.0 Current Storyline is being Altered to a point yes, to Accommodate the 7th Umbra Era. But all the Content ( IE: Dungeons/Strongholds/Primals/Guildleves ( to a point Yoshi-p said)) WILL be in VERSION 2.0.
The ONLY things that WILL be different are the Following:
- User Interface
- Graphics Engine
- New Servers
- New Client
- New Maps ( Due to the Destruction of the 6th Umbra Era)
Most of these Changes are " Technological" Related NOT the game itself.
So saying your paying for an " Incomplete Product" When you say 2.0 is the Full Version of the game is Idiotic
Sorry wynn i know u have this huuuge crush on me, that's why I'm assuming that message is geared towards me (aw ur so cute). But I can't see your posts anymore so you're wasting your breath little buddy.
for the same reason you pay full price for any mmo before expansions come out
because the expansion doesnt dictate the price
lets say you pay less now
when 2.o comes out you pay 12 dollars
does that means when 3.0 comes out you will be willing to pay 16? and so on
no of course not
a flat price point across the board is the standard for mmos, people are trying to use the crutch of launch to dictate whgat the price should be
fact is we have tons of content now, but people refuse to accept that and look only at how the game launched and how this "isnt 2.0 yet"
people want a discount for discounts sake, it has nothing to do with any other fact but that in 90% of the cases out there
and they will say anything and everything they can think of to try and convince people that we deserve one for XXX reason
A "Like" simply did not suffice for this post. Completely and utterly 100% this.
Stop pretending the game is half done because we're getting more content later. At the very least, stick with reasons that you don't enjoy the game as it is now. Because that's a real argument for not wanting to pay. I think there are other problems with that reason, but at least stick to the truth of the matter.
Also: JFC, people, stop feeding the troll. This thread is actually a worthwhile discussion without JackDaniels, and the ignore function just isn't thorough enough - plus I still have to see all his posts anyway with your unnecessary responses.
I agree with this wholeheartedly.
And on a slight tangent of my own- An MMO is never truly finished so people will be bitching up until the end. I think that if you support something, you should be willing to put forth the effort to help it progress. It's common sense that they would charge a standard amount to support the product. Whether it's "done" or not isn't the question here, it's whether or not we want to support Yoshi P. and the development team in their progress. Have you looked at the updates scheduled? Do you like the content they are developing? The fact that they listen to us? The websites and other modes of communication that they have tirelessly made for us? The fact that during the Tokyo city power outages that they STILL worked on content? Support them like they have supported us. The faster they receive support, the faster they can stop worrying about how they will get financial backing and get back to programming the game.
Personally, I will pay if it's 12 dollars or 14 dollars or whatever they decide to charge me. Thank you SE; Yoshi P. for everything.
