I was really looking forward to this... great that SE thinks that they should exclude like 99% of the servers from housing.
For me housing always was something you had just for fun, something you could spent some time on between the repetitive raids/quests and since i did quit SWG in 2005, i was looking forward to something like that again.
But well, SE did decide that i dont deserve that fun.
And yes, i know, in 6 months personal housing will come and if everyone crosses their fingers, they will even have reasonable prices (if we have alot of luck...) but after 3 years of waiting for improvements of FFXIV, im really sick of waiting... -

There is zero reason for anyone to even buy housing right now... hell there is going to be little reason until at least the next update or more likely further than that.
What do you get out of housing as of this update? You get a house you can place furniture in and... that's it...
You won't have retainer access in FC housing until 2.3, nor will you have access to an aetheryte. Chocobo breeding? Future update. Basement airship workshop? Future update. Gardening? Future update. In game FC tools like message/note boards? Future update.
As things stand right now the housing system is an expensive vanity project for people that like to play house. It will be used by people that frequent RMT sites and scoff at the price or legitimate groups that love being the first to do something and have far more money than they have common sense. -

I don't mind the idea of super expensive housing being available in the game, provided that there are extremely cheap options to tide people by in the meantime. It should have been 4m gil maximum for a small house, so every FC can have a place to call it's home without having to recruit 512 people, extort gil from them and then boot them shortly afterwards. Which legitimately could happen, and that's a concern for me.

At the prices now, my FC is never going to see a nice house. That isn't to say people aren't working for things. We have people that gather mats for consumables, help each other do dungeons, and self-provide for the FC. It just seems like unless you're good at playing the market, and do it quite often, FC housing is not going to be for you.. and considering the audience this type of content usually caters to, that's not really a smart move. -

Being a staunch supporter of this game and this series, i can (after a fassion) understand why this was setup the way it was. Even so i can't help but be dissapointed. I have been a member since 1.0 ce beta, and have looked foward to alot even when the vast majority wrote off this game. I understand that since im a casual player i will miss out on somethings, as i am not a hardcore player, but this seems unfair in my opinion. SE for what ever reason seems to favor the idea of rewarding those who use exploits/ cheats to consume content... the very same who turn around complain at the lack of content they used every short cut to complete. With all thats being done to bring the community togeather this seems counter productive, contnuiously segregating people like this just breeds contempt. I hope this changes, i know the prices will drop eventually but seriously more thought should have put into this.

I'm on Durandal, it's a lovely server with lovely people. Naturally, on the peasant servers where it starts at 20m gil, you probably had a lot of "TITAN RUNZ 250k! OVER 300 RUNZ!" (I saw that advert) 300*250,000 = 75,000,000, wow, on Sargatanas you can use all that gil to buy a 5th class Medium! Don't worry though, you only need to sell another 900 odd runs to get the super deluxe version.
So, anyone running a vote on "who is happy with the FC housing prices"? I vote "Umm, nah, got some rich 1.0 players but I wouldn't pay 20m for a shack".
