CT loot lockout and the direction of this game will probably cause our FC to quit

Selfish attitude is not wanting to help them at all. I help them in other ways such as crafting, completing anything that will help them progress on their MAIN class. I'm the FC leader and if I devoted my time to help every member in the FC to gear their alts, how do you expect me to have time to help all the other members that are trying to gear up their mains?

So because you don't put in as much time as other people or because you aren't as efficient as other people, those other people should be forced to go at your pace?

Who cares if it drops i80 gear instead of i90? It gives people a better transition into end game content by giving them a chance to GUARANTEE a piece of decent gear aside from Darklight each week.

Coil wasn't meant to be farmed for gear so fast, and that was specifically clear by the binding progression from Turn 1 to Turn 5 within a week period.

leon , IRL , if u have a job , it's not just for fun , right ? u are rewarded by money right ? every persons need to be well rewarded to do things , and that's logical .
if one day someone want to pay u in nothing but shit like 1 $ per hour, when u can chose to do a job wich give you 10 x more money just a bit harder ,don't tell me that u'll accept to do the job number one .

MMO are about constant grinding , farming , training , self improvement , etc .... without those things , mmo are just failure ( just like these new mmos in the past 2 years).


ps : guess what , aion is a f2p , and during the 3 4 years i've played , i wasn't even bored ( and played like 4-5 hours per day) , and could pvp at anytime , and enjoyed it , unlike this game wich is a P2P game ( with a f2p limitations model).

Sigh, I guess I have to spell it out for you. Let's say you have 5 hours in a day to play. You want to help your teammates as best as possible so that they can get the best gears in the game so that you can all do harder content now or future content. Let's say Coil has a weekly loot lockout. Wouldn't you want to spend a majority of those 5 hours to run Coil as many times as you can to help your teammates get the best gears in the game so that you are ready for the hardest content that will be out in the near future? Now.... think about CT. It's the "2nd" best gear, debatable if you compare it to crafted over-meld gears. Let's say your group is like my group and we can already do turns 1-5 in the gear we already have. Tell me, what is the point of taking CT as seriously as Coil? Scheduling, meeting at set times, and trying to get people to commit to specific dates or times for a game is not an easy thing to do every single week. If they didn't make CT have a loot lockout, it'll give my members something to do during the week and be motivated to do it. As much as we want to help each other, there's just not much motivation to help each other in CT when it's not helping our FC progress as a whole.

I understand that some of you are not where my FC is at yet and will love to have CT gears to help you catch up to us, but if you think about it, the lockout hurts you more than it does me because it'll take you 6 weeks of getting lucky just to get all your pieces for 1 job.

You're kidding right? This game that they created is for their BUSINESS. I am paying for what they "created" for me. If this game is free and I didn't pay for anything, I wouldn't care if this game succeeded or not. I'm only paying because I want this game to succeed.

This is what MMOs are, to you. Your perspective of MMOs shouldn't be applied to other people.

Have you read the story? Paid attention to the quest dialogues? The places around you? Have you leveled up each class and enjoyed each of their different story lines? Do you know anything lorewise? Do you even bother to read?

The hundreds of thousands of people who play this game play for many different reasons from your own, and its people like you who think in the way you do about 'the lack of content' and this game is a 'failure' that ruin the experience for others who dare pay the $15 a month for something they hope to enjoy.

WoW is the most popular and most played MMO because it's WoW and a Blizzard game. The game got it's record subscription numbers because of it's massive following and fans for over 2 decades. We definitely don't want Final Fantasy XIV: ARR to turn out like WoW. We definitely want FFXIV:ARR to start out like WoW.

For those who say you can do other things after clearing Coil on Monday such as Crafting and Gathering...

There's this for you to look at. Guess where the influx of crafters came from?

That's right, people who have nothing to do and have taken your "advice" on leveling crafts and gathering. Now the markets are filled with... well just look at the thread for more info.

Lockouts now not only cause a problem for people who only want to do dungeons and raid content. It is now indirectly damaging the markets due to the fact that EVERYONE can be a crafter and gatherer. Normally people who prefer to do dungeons and raids will be doing those if they could. However, with lockouts per character, once the certain quota has been met, there isn't anything worth doing for the "dungeoners/raiders".

When those people reach this point, they have 2 options:
1) Not log in for the rest of the week until the reset.
2) Level crafting and gathering.

2) is what alot of people who defend the lack of content tell them to do. Which, in turn, causes a MASSIVE influx of players who have maxed level crafts for almost if not all classes. Guess whose fun this affects? Nope, not the dungeon/raid people, but the Crafting/Gathering aka "casual" players who decided to choose crafting/gathering instead of dungeon/raiding.

This is DEFINITELY an issue that needs to be addressed if this game is to survive for the upcoming months.

As it is right now, it looks a little like this:

1) Player logs in on Monday to finish up his weekly quota of Coil/Tomes.
2) Player proceeds to level crafts and gathering if he hasn't
3) Markets become full of underpriced stuff causing crafters to not earn as much as they could originally. Services provided by said crafters will also become obsolete due to higher number of players being able to do it themselves.
4) Player gets fed up, stops logging in after Monday once again.
5) Crafters give up crafting as it is no longer profitable/enjoyable/needed.
6) Gatherers will have lesser people to buy their stuff as Crafters(their main market) have lost interest in crafting.

This is an elephant in the room that seemingly alot of people are choosing to not acknowledge.

I'm pretty sure Yoshi-P wasn't hired to bring a game back from the brink of death just for business. @OPneedNerfs: Your elephant in the room is miniscule because of how long the Released game has been out. Perhaps it'd be quite a bit bigger if we're talking a year from now, but we're not, and there's a huge patch coming right around the corner.

@Reyki: There wouldn't be a story in this game if it weren't meant for people to play at their own pace. There wouldn't be solo content and quests and things for people who aren't hardcore to do if it weren't meant for casual players.

And your point about putting different amounts of time into a game and getting the same rewards? Get real, dude. Learn you some perspective before commenting. Either that or go play a hardcore MMO that doesn't give two shits about its users. I heard Blizzard is more than willing to take your money.

I was pointing out that limiting loot is common in MMO's, like you asked someone to do, and I would be thrilled if after nearly a decade this game was supporting over 5 million subscriptions. No matter how you look at it, they did a lot of things right with WoW. Now your original post about not understanding the loot lockout for Crystal Tower, let me explain it to you. Crystal Tower and Coil were both meant to be put out side by side at release, both "raid" type encounters. Crystal Tower was and will continue to be the natural progression toward Coil, but since Tower had to be delayed, this got thrown off a bit, and confused some of the more simple minded players. With the following patches, they will alternate between Coil and Tower expansions, each time giving another tier of gear, to set you up for the next patch or expansion. Crystal Tower is meant to be the more "casual" of the two raids because of the duty finder, and not needing to set up statics to run it. Coil is the more "hardcore" of the two and better group play and communication is required, therefore no duty finder. But still BOTH are raid content, and they don't want the raid gears to be able to be farmed like dungeon content, even if it's not the current best, raid gear is still an achievement, and something they want us to work towards .

This is wrong, this game was created to generate revenue, not please fans, not to be nice, but to gain money. Yoshi-P didnt make ffxiv for me. He made it and has designed in to make money for square, this is the basis of any game company is there passion to make a good game and work with the community but the game wasnt made out of SE kindness it was made out of SE saying we need to make money off of this.

Limiting loot is acceptable but one piece is kind of a slap in the face. two maybe three pieces a week most would probably be content I know i would be.

It would have been smart to make CT the dungeon where you can really gear up your alt classes, and leave the lockouts only on the top end gear, IMO.

People wanting to really play around the job system have little to no way to decently build up their alts.

Mind you, I just started and I'm quite far from having to deal with that; maybe the system will be improved by then.

If you have a problem with *not enough content* - why do you think a "remove the lockout" would help you in any way?

The only thing that would happen would be that you finish the content even faster and after 1-2 weeks you again have nothing to do because you would have all your alts in I-Level 80.

People who play 30+ hours a week really need to play more then one MMO or play a MMO with 2+ years after release. One relatively new MMO will never ever satisfy you... and you should have learned that by now.

The system will be fine after the patch. You'll be able to get 3 pieces of gear a week guaranteed. 1 from i80 CT, 1 i90 from XM Primals, and 1 i90 from Myth tokens. 4 weeks = fully geared, more than ready for CT, alt class.

eh you don't have to worry DL (the gear you can farm endless) is good enough to do any current content with heck even the extremes won't require anything above ilvl 70 people who complain about not being able to gear alts are just upset they can't get ilvl 90 gear for their alts and like to whine alot.

Remember, the first 3 months only lasted that long because of 1 thing, and that is ALL the players in the new servers are new. Meaning they all started at level 1 on 1 class.

Now with the fact that people are either
1) Capped at coil
2) Capped at Titan HM
3) Not bothering with DoW/DoM

with at least 1 class at 50 and having already geared their character, the upcoming content serves little to alleviate the next 3 months until the next major patch.

The game was fun to explore, learn and experience in the first 3 months because it was new to everyone. Now, with majority of players having at least 1 class at 50, the leveling process of their first class, gearing up by re-running dungeons/crafting for their first class, along with the main storyline from 1-50 has been eliminated from their "interesting things to do" list.

This leaves only the newly released 2.1 content for them to play around with.
2.1 summarized has:
1) A Few quests that will be doable only once for the story (might keep players interested for a few days/weeks)
2) Crystal Tower with loot lockouts and maximum 8 man pre-made. (I'm gonna say this would be the same as coil, but easier as it is currently meant to be DFed, should keep players interested for a few days/weeks depending on RNG and mechanics of fights in CT)
3) Housing (pretty much fluff for your FC, anyone worth their salt after playing so long should have accumulated a considerable income. Not really content since it's all gil gil gil, done with housing/glorified chatroom, keep players interested for about a few hours)
4) PVP Arena (This is still a mystery as rewards, PVP skills and pretty much everything about it hasn't been announced. Assuming rewards are good/PVP is interesting, this might just be the saving grace this game needs to tide over till 2.2)
5) Duty Roulette (part of philo/myth capping. Just provides an incentive to help out new players. Still, with the reward only being given out once per day, not really helpful)
6) Pharos Sirius, HM Copperbell Mines, HM Haukke Manor (Same as the quests as mentioned in point 1. Might keep players interested for the first few runs so around a few days/weeks)
7) Treasure Hunt, Beast Tribe quests (Unless the rewards are outstanding, it's gonna turn out just like leves as it is right now)
8) Aesthetician (New haircut, that's all)
9) EM Primals (With lockouts, gonna be the same as coil or CT)

So as it is, 2.1 will be adding fresh content that should last the average player ranging from a few days to a few weeks. This is supposed to keep players interested until 2.2 which is 3 months from 2.1.

even if we take the best scenario of a player staying interested in content in 2.1 for 1 month, it's still going to revert back to an additional 2 months of what the game's state is in now.

The elephant is pretty big if you ask me.

Where's the information that they drop i90 accessories? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I am genuinely interested if it's true. That might actually mean 2.1 has some actual challenging content worth doing. I've only been able to find this regarding items from EM Primals. :s

Oh and for the record, I'm not complaining, I'm stating facts. I myself am still playing the game getting everything to 50. However, there are very obvious glaring problems that I have mentioned. Instead of telling people to "shut up and wait", may you perhaps tell us your view on how you see the upcoming content will play out? I mean, if everyone came on the forums telling each other to just shut up, there'd be no need for a "General Discussion" forum now would there?

I am very happy with this new way rewards are being handled. Obviously there are others who will dislike it. Here are the two major pluses I see to this system:
1) You have a very good chance of obtaining the specific piece of gear you want. There are 5 pieces per set for each role, and not always is the other person in your role going to want the item you are after, meaning you might go uncontested on your drop. Since you only get an item per week, you won't have greedies spamming those "Need/Greed" buttons. They will have to restrict themselves.
2) Players will be able to help friends, unlike the system we have in Coil right now. Or if one just merely enjoys the dungeon, he can just queue for the fun aside from the "pimp my ride".
I think the mistake was made not on the loot of the tower, but on the adjustments to Twintania. It should have been left like it was before, or even buffed so that most of the people who are past that stage and wish to do nothing more in game still had "content" left.

2.1 has it's interesting points, I admit that even I'm excited for the upcoming new stuff to do. I'll tell you, there isn't any. There are bounds upon bounds of content in FFXIV ARR that probably haven't been touched by these users and its a huge waste of money and time on their part to not even search beyond that one end goal.

Long story short, its the users who take their sweet time and find things to do while their hands are idle that are going to keep this game alive. Those who pay attention to details and things laid out for them to specifically explore and challenge. Not those who reach the top, get bored, and quit. So if you want things to get better, wait. They will. They are coming. And it won't be dragged out like anything George R R Martin writes. It's really coming. For real.

Help your FC mates sound fine, unless CT takes 2 hours to clean it (Caused other raid is rookie, not better geared, ...). You will help one day or two, others times you need do something for you, it's selfish, but the world is made by selfish.

At best, "casual players", that played 4-6 hours, have more time to help friends, the rest of us, playing 2 hours or three, not. 3 months clearing coil, killing Primal extreme an barely do PVP sound not enough to hold subs. watch your fc or other linkshell, subs is dropping.

I have played 2 hours each day and since the release. I have all crafters lvl 50, doing HQ using NQ mats, all disciple of land at lvl 50. I had days don't log caused coil raid done, myth capped, one reason to enter was leveling a class that i will not play much.

The real content rushers are the players who have all class lvl 50, wearing DL all of them. Clear coil is not rush the content, simply is do the content

Well, if you obsessively play. (It takes more than 4 hours to get to 50- with or without rest xp and bonus, you are fudging here).

No matter how difficult (read time consuming) or easy (read fast), you would be where you are because you play non-stop obsessively, all day at work and in your free time. You are a compulsive player who might have an addiction.

The solution to this problem has NOTHING to do with this game or how it is designed.

Yeah, that's exactly the way it is. Not for nothing, but neither SE nor any other company will ever be able to supply content at a rapid enough rate to please the entire fanbase. Those of us who move quickly will always be rationed in what we can do. But let me ask you this: Would you rather be on lock-out for the week, or have everything in the game completed with absolutely nothing to do for the next two months?

Granted, they're both crappy options, but I think SE chose the lesser of two evils. In addition to that, though, please remember that endgame is just starting to take shape as far as SE's plans. Up until now, it's been "run coil once a week, grind out WP and AK." With this patch, grinding WP or AK won't be necessary(the efficient players will still choose it, though), since you can just as easily cap your Myth by going through the Daily Roulette, the Beastmen Quests and the Treasure Hunts. You'll also have two endgame raids(albeit one is easier than the raid you MIGHT be working on, but that doesn't apply to the entire playerbase) to go through each week, in addition to 5 dungeons, instead of just two.

I can understand that you want progression, but what most of the playerbase was asking for is variety, and that's what SE is trying to deliver on, since only a minority have actually entered BC, let alone cleared T5. The next patch will likely pad out the endgame even more(one new dungeon, two Hard Mode Dungeons, Leviathan Hard & Extreme), while delivering the next tier of BC.
