Y'all maybe need to stop beating on our Community Team. Especially Rukkirii. We very rarely get to hear from her. And though Bayohne is very nice as far as Malboros go ... I wouldn't mind seeing some more Opo-opo activity on the forums.:D

It hasn't gotten few likes because nobody cares. Its because its depressing information. Guess what, I care. And most of that sucks. I don't want to just "avoid monsters" and play completely solo.
My primary class is Miner.
I care!
People take these Q&A as wishlists and and they're surprised they always get the "Maybe we'll do it" answer. The few questions where people actually asked questions, y'know, like "how stuff works" actually got answered.
Maybe with better questions we'd get better answers.
"Could you create a bag just for gathering?
We'll take it into consideration."
Thats the one!!
At least you can count those as answers. Better to have some sort of acknowledgement than none at all.
Lol, You gotta be pretty ignorant to think that a topic no one cares about would run 30 pages long...
But more importantly, this latest section of the Q&A makes me more hopeful. The answers are still vague but at least they eluded to give us new abilities and rewarding us for gathering in "dangerous" places.
I still want a dedicated Gathering Quest Storyline.. I'll story board it myself if i have too...
I wish SE would start charging for the game so that some of these trolls who have no intention of ever playing would finally disappear.
Hi Renta,
I think even if the devs only chose 4 - 5 questions, we'd still get limited answers.
I'd rather have our questions be acknowledged, even with a seemingly cursory response like how most of them were answered. At least all of our Questions were *read* by someone on the Development Team and they had to think of some response for it.
What may be a "we'll consider it" response, may prove to inspire them when Gathering does become a priority. They may forget where the idea came from, but if later down the line, the Design Team starts addressing Gathering, and one of our ideas (that they read from this Q&A) helps them make improvements to DoL, then it's a win, I think.
If it was due to the Developers running out of time (because there were too many questions and they got impatient), then sure, fewer questions. But I'm getting the feeling it's because they're all focused on Core Combat / Raid Dungeons / Grand Companies right now.
All the kidding and negativity aside I'm very sad that Yoshi threw out the idea of gathering/crafting classes being equally represented. I thought it was one of the things that were going to set FFXIV aside of others. In the ideal world battle system would've worked and people who find the disciples of land/hand boring would've went and smacked mobs while other who like this type of stuff could have enjoyed it. However, because of the way events unfolded all the trolls who dint want to craft or gather in first place got their whining through to the dev team and I'm afraid the system will be destroyed. It sounds like crafting and gathering will be pretty much as useless as in FFXI so good bye uniqueness.
Go play Minecraft if all you want to do is gather and craft. This is a Final Fantasy game and FF games have always had an engaging story with challenging content. This game has neither because of the poor decision to treat gatherers and crafters as equals. I'm sure this alone resulted in many people quitting.
I find it funny you're pushing what you are when your highest craft is 34, highest gather is 19 and you've got a 50 battle class. This game needs big changes if it's to survive and this is one of them that is badly needed. Being unique (no it's not Minecraft exists) is cool, but not when it's unique by sucking.
Dude go troll somewhere else. People dont have to obsess over gathering to care about its role in the game. Final Fantasy isnt about Difficult battles. In fact most FF games have very few difficult battles. Final Fantasy is about Character development. And people who want to have well rounded characters deserve benefits for doing so. Crafters and gatherers deserve a significant role in this game. The only mistake SE made with regards to content was trying to give all the play styles the same content. The only way to fix this game as far as Balance and Challenges is to give each play style its own content rather than half ass a diplomacy system. It definitely wont help to cater to lazy bias people like you.
I'm sure someone else has already said this but some of the answers were "We are looking into it.", that could mean they're already working on that feature or working on developing it.
well my question sadly didn't get picked but alot of others were.
happy to see another Q&A even tho most questions are still unanswered, but atleast the dev team now knows about our concerns with some aspects of gathering.
hopefully they'll not just look into it, but also change most of those accordingly ^^.
.... What??Quote:
After a fisherman pulls in a fish, he performs a motion of shaking the rod again, so I feel very uneasy whenever I finish fishing. Is there any possibility of fixing this?
Question: Will we be able to get a solid concrete answer any time soon to any of the listed questions? And no, "We'll look into it", "We'll take that in consideration", and other variations thereof are not valid answers to this question. I want a straight up "No, we haven't thought of that, and we don't really care about it at the moment" than a run-around answer. Even straight out silence would be better, since it shows you're fully apathetic than trying but failing at trying to hid that you don't really want to answer the question.
Good to know they at least have some intentions along this line, I'd definitely like something like that! Also, we got plenty of answers - they may just be cursory, but they are answers. It is a Q&A, they are never the most detailed things from my experience.Quote:
We do have something in mind, but we have not yet fleshed out the details.Quote:
Are there any plans to implement personal fields, fishing tanks, or mining deposits specifically for gatherers?

As a Botanist, I would like to be able to grow my own plants and even set up my own personal garden. Are there any plans to implement this?
As others have said, some of us do play purely because we enjoy Gathering or Crafting, that isn't limited to purely getting the stuff, but involves the market and selling of goods as well, along with the knowledge that your goods go on to make things that others use in the future. If I was doing this purely for the 'ph4t l3wts' I'd be playing something else!
Anyone played Recettear? I picked that up off Steam, and it is great fun hehe - I wish players could own *proper* stalls etc for selling, that would at least make the Retainers more interesting rather than standing around.
Reading the original JPN question and answer, I think it was referring to how you automatically cast your line again after you catch your fish. So, say you just caught your last fish, but your character still casts the line again, as per the fishing animation, so the user has to click "cancel" to finish fishing even though his character looks like his line is still in the water, so this makes the user feel like he's not not finished yet or something. And he apparently thinks that's weird.
I think. I dunno, I haven't bothered to fish since September because it's so damn boring so I wouldn't know.
Is it possible that maybe ... just maybe ... we can take the Development Team at their word??
When they say "We'll take it into consideration", they really never thought of that question before and have to discuss it among themselves or with Naoki Yoshida before they can answer if they'll do it or not.
If they were to simply answer "No", then they are closing the door to an idea simply because they themselves never considered it. I don't think we want that that, do we?
If they were to simply answer "Yes", then they are promising to deliver something that they have not planned, balanced, or determined the cost of, let alone the effect it will have on the game as a whole. Do we really want the Development Team to go back to implementing things they have not completely thought through (e.g. Parley, Holiday Bells, Market Wards)??
This version of the Development Team led by Naoki Yoshida is very deliberate in their actions. They will not be rushed into things like the last team was. Nor will they promise things they don't know they can deliver. At the same time, they are not closed to outside ideas (unlike Hiromichi Tanaka).
Umm if that's what they mean it's horrible translation.. Anyway automatically recasting after a fishing attempt makes more sense than having to draw out your rod and recast after each try.. Meh.. don't really care anyway lol. I just thought this was a ridiculous/weird question.
complaining isn't going to do any one any good, how about constructive complaining look at what I did with my frustration:
"if its going to be like this then we gathering classes might as well break off all contact with battle! as it stand will fade into the background. (they don't need us anyways they got NM drops) What is its going to take to get gatherers real content? So from now on until the real content comes that isn't only adjustments, SP, Nodes again and again... maybe the idea of separation might be needed FFXIV, Becomes all it can be that's what gathering could striving to be. I chose FFXIV because it was different from the others and DoL interested me not only the gathering part and even then after starting playing its gathering wasn't all that bad, in fact it as okay but not great so maybe in the future something amazing would happen.... but if its going down that path I might as well say it now and go out with a Bang! Don!. SO
Here's a quick list of things possibly in need to stand on our own as "Independent Gatherers". maybe I'm wrong but currently from whats been said it looking pretty dark down the road ahead. *edit *I do apologize for this I don't usual vent and its an mess of thoughts.
- say NO to support of dow/dom, cut all ties if need be
- All DoL have main stories, quests, mini-quests, guildleves, jobs, and lots more nodes added independently
-All trees has a node somewhere, even if hidden.
-make our own gathering/crafts for ourselves and friends
-Class get specification settings so any tool no matter if changed to sword etc work as gathering purpose but differently; weird idea
-gathering and crafting is a must! and much more
large gathering community are formed
-Play as a true native of Eorzea - camp in the wild for days on end, live off the eorzea and provide for yourself, not continuously going back to cities.
-retainer, path companion, npcs, aldgoats lol find/follow you
- choice to start living in caves, forests, river-huts
-Monster can be gathered from as to; True Hunting; Traps
-Farming and Livestock

-Gathering Only Areas: only gatherers of required rank can enter that area
-Gathering Only Type Beast: specific monsters set for gathering purposes
-Gathering Type Beast: Once gathered from they; disappear, regrow parts,
-Gatherers Gear: colorful greens and browns leafs-like attire, shoe, hats, etc.
-True Gathering: mining, chopping, fishing and that's the limit, more freedoms to DoL add Dive in all Waters, Climb Trees, Dig Holes, keep adding more that can be done.
-More Better Tools
-(EVENT) Seasonal Harvest Festivals : at each time; spring, summer, fall, winter, or mixed sometimes. an event for gathering materials only found at that time.
-(Daily Event) Special Time: a random times, at random locations and with random NPC or monster interactions during the day hidden area will open for gathering
-Monster Interactions: (Nothing like battles at all), when encountering/engaging monsters DoL act as such: with emotes, gear colors, foods eaten.
-talking to and ask NPCs that are the same class to find hidden information and quests more about the class.
-information desk that links gatherers to get information that links web and in-game
-Botanists climb trees,
-Talk to beasts and the trees
-Miner can dig into mountains, excavate raw jewels (diamonds, gold, etc ).
-Fisher dive into the seas seeing even rarer fish
-Water attributes is associated with Fishers, the stronger (points) the better it becomes.
-Air attributes is associated with Botanists, the stronger (points) the better it becomes.
-Earth attributes is associated with Miners, the stronger (points) the better it becomes.
-Greenhouse as a meeting spot, and relaxation zone.
-The Echo, lets players share and understand what the last person did while gathering.
-Gather offerings to the 12 Gods/Goddess, hard
-learn/understand the woods even more while on a gathering tasks
-When gathering something amazing happens
-When gathering something dangerous happens
-SP rises and falls depending on abilities used and other factors
-more abilities at least 50
-more items
-gathering speed buffs
-gathering mini-game become really fun
-? a question-marks pop-ups when something unknown happens (like an material that shouldn't be there, example: a boot in a tree)
-?! this happens when the character/player discovers something strange (check it out why don't you...)
-?! this happens when danger approach you (
-mysteries paths open up all of a sudden random
- monster follow players, protection or hate grrr
- cute noises, more graphical effects and
- lots at least 10 more special glowing-ball in an gathering area
-gathering can use secondary tool only if they want
-special requirement in ranks would be needed even a rank 10up, something not just anyone can do gain it.
I don't hate the Q&A in general its great to know things and not everything was bad in fact there was a few that as good, the only problem is the direction, just adding activities changes nothing, the core of things stay the same. Independent Gatherers could possible change things, Support for Battle sounds so wrong it taking the usual route that can't be helped as its the current way of things.
Question -Even though feathers have low value as an item, they are rare and difficult to obtain. Did the developers do this intentionally?
Answer - We'll take it into consideration.
I'm not sure if it's a language barrier or what, but this is a yes or no question. However good job on this latest batch of Q&A's
I'm starting to see what you are talking about Xenor, until now I couldn't tell if you liked or hated gathering DoL.
1: Truly believe " we take it into consideration" and "its not in the plans" really meaning "Anything is still possible..."
2: Ask the Devs if Gathering Classes (Crafter Classes as well) could cut all ties with Battle in general, then Forging our own path. With gathering/crafting and fighters/mages. We could gather/craft the world new again, its possible think of the possibilities.
3: Ask for separate content each; battle for battle . magic for magic. crafter for crafter. gather for gather. thought we maybe come apart, in the end we still need each other to complete our goals. just like RL.
4: Hope the devs got the message/learned from this Q&A, "More is always better".
5: Quit or Stop playing for awhile
Maybe its still be too soon to tell what is what and maybe I've lost sight of things... but seriously this issue has got me worried I haven't sleep at all.
"Even if you prepared for the worst outcome it still isn't easy to see it happen"
Actually what I said was this game needs independent content for Gatherers. What you said was scrap two major portion of the game. Massive difference. I also believe that while each play style has it's own primary content there is no reason they can't intertwine. DoW/M protect DoL in DoL content and DoL open paths and create obstacles for enemies in DoW/M content. The end goal should be to create a systematic harmony where in these classes are not dependent on one another but benefit on a huge scale from utilizing each others skills.
Quality over Quantity...
The only problem I see with this is that if they made the advantage of having a gathering class so...Gargantuan.. which would more than likely be the case, (otherwise why would people do it, aside from sheer fun, but that's something else in itself). it would make it that much harder to form a party in already broken party system. Granted if this was implemented much later on, after the obvious issues are fixed then yes, it would be viable. ATM I think a lot of people are struggling with the idea that the game is broken and they are trying to fix it, thus the lack of content, thus why we are bored. Personally I'm to the point I only log on to handle LS affairs which is sad.
But hey that's just my opinion right? If you enjoy the game then enjoy the game don't let me put a damper on your parade, just realize that we are bitching because we want this game to succeed too.. unless you are a troll then well.. idk piss off :p?
Nowhere did I say anything like this. Now you're just making shit up. I said crafters and gatherers should not be treated as equals to battle classes. Story missions should not lack challenging content just because gatherers and crafters can't participate. I stand by this and I'm glad it's changing. I never said gatherers need independent content in the post you quoted but I never said they didn't. I have however pushed for it elsewhere. My MIN and BTN are both 44, of course I want more content for them than ranking up.
Separate is not Equal! No Justice, No Peace!! Blacksmith RAGE!!!
:p
Joviality aside ... upon reflection, the concept that Gatherers and Crafters should be able to enjoy and complete the exact same storyline arc as Warriors and Mages was ill-conceived.
I agree with Xenor and others on this thread that, once challenging epic-level content has been established for Warriors and Mages, the Development Team would be extremely wise to create equally epic storyline arcs for Crafters and Gatherers.
Imagine being a Blacksmith during the Industrial Revolution, or a Miner during the North American Gold Rush.
Storyline arcs similar in scope to those would add the desperately wanted "things to do" in the game, breaking the monotony of grinding that many Gatherers and Crafters feel from time to time. They would also allow them to be able to feel like they affect change in the world.
Imagine you are a Botanist, and you become involved in the "Restore the Twelvewood" storyarc where you must find and collect extremely rare seeds from around Eorzea, then find a place where they can be nurtured into saplings, and then safely transport the new saplings to their final rooting in the Twelvewood.
The seeds would be found in various locations. Some from living plants ... some from like-minded Botanist NPCs ... some from the ruins of long lost civilizations. That's at least three quests with 2 cutscenes right there ... just from gathering seeds!!
So yes, there is great potential to make the Gatherers and Crafters truly shine in their own right ... without having to take part in the violence of Warriors and Mages.
Do any of you have any idea how simple it is to make this content? Theres no legitimate bloody excuse for cutting off DoL/H from having their own content This backpedalling BS needs to stop, it's already inconceivable how it takes this long to get anything done after all the engines I've gotten to tear apart.
If they really are having this much difficulty doing anything with the engine they need to scrap the current plans and streamline it. It shouldn't require the skills of an Assembly Wizard to add in a quest or change a static text value.
What a joke. This isnt a Q&A. Someone explain this to SE.
It's not all that bad if you'd take a step back and think about it a little more... SE took the time out of there busy schedule to inform us of what they've currently thinking about; yes it sounds cold like stated as well... really cold but there was some good parts as well. After some time thinking I'm starting to come around again and think its not all set in stone just yet. So all I can say is "give it a little more time" maybe they're clear things up in a few days time.
I haven't ranted for the first time in a while, SE, Devs, Reps, you guys (and gals) are Great :D really, though omg did it throw a lot us players off "No Main Content" that one hurt.
"Even though feathers have low value as an item, they are rare and difficult to obtain. Did the developers do this intentionally?
