Locking dyable artifact gear behind a extreme trial, good idea?

The reasons you summed up are actually one of the most important reasons I joined a static, the other being I don't have all that much time so it's easier for me with a static and schedule days and times we're going to do the raid.

I've also had many bad experiences with PF but we also do have a blacklist so don't be afraid to use it.

At this time I would still not do Savage with a PF pug but I found EX to be easy enough now to be pug-able, there's still the change of bad apples and bad groups but just use blacklist and join another group.

Maybe try to search/join LS's and/or Discord's with people who have a similar play style as you?

If I got your message with your raiding schedule right, then you raided for 16 hours 1st week, 16 hours 2nd week, 16 hours 3rd week, 12 hours 4th week, and somewhere there also 6 hours, which in amount does 66 hours of raiding in a month - more than a full working week. Maybe it's not the highest raiding online I saw, and maybe it's not the fastest progress, but it's absolutely not a casual schedule.

Yeah, my group is 2.5 hours a night, 3 nights a week. The first 3 weeks we put in a lot of optional days, but still only like half of their playtime.

Holy cow, the new primal isn't that hard and he gives two totems each time you beat him. All of his skills are literally Zenos's or Hades with a little twist. And most of the fight is really predictable as in he will either start with x combo of skills or you simply react to what skills are being used bc they are used over and over. Only the end is a little spicy but can be cheesed by either dropping all the pools on one end or just haha'ing at the blue xs bc they dont deal enough to be a real threat.

Also I have never seen this primals enrage. He is incredibly forgiving. The only thing is he hits harder than a normal primal fight.

Last time stb relic was gate locked behind eureka, and some ppl really love it. But it was without a doubt more of a slog than this new primal. Hell, did you guys forget the fate grinds in HW or aethersand and light bs? ARR? Gotta beat three primal ex iirc.

New primal is easy. You guys just need to try a little. If he had been like say as hard/long as Hades Ex I'd say maybe you got a point. But I'm sorry, I cleared him in three groups with shit net from my phone. And I'm not even a good player.

If you can't get the dyable gear now then wait a patch. Or hell an expansion. I'll prolly never see my artifact gear dyeable bc no one does Euryka.

It doesn't matter how much you play you're not a casual because you play 3 hours a day nor you are hardcore because you stay 6 hours in limsa.

It's about content difficulty and how much time you invest in it.

Hardcore is not related to the time you play but the kind of content you play. Savage is by definition what we call an hardcore content. As soon as you invest time to clear them, you are part of "hardcore scene" (thought that could be confusing since people imagine sometimes it make them "pro-gamer-like". People who do hardcore content but don't have these kind of "ambition" don't necessary consider themselves as "hardcore" scene).

We don't even come close to fastest, there's hundreds and hundreds of groups doing it first and second week already.
I've actually seen at the top groups requirement and there's no way I'll ever be able to join them due I work full time and have other RL responsibilities, they just raid too many hours. Those are groups I consider that are hardcore.

I'm not skilled enough to beat all 4 bosses in an hour... Have to progress quite a while and spend time in learning the mechanics, because of my low skill level I take quite some time to get it right and be able to go trough it.

Thing is I don't do anything 'different'. Most evenings after the day and my responsibilities are done I spend around 2-3 hours before bed in entertainment be that play this or another game, watch some netflix or anime or read something...

Raiding is something I find fun so, when a raid drops I just do the raid instead of watching a movie or doing some roulettes or whatever I would be doing if there was no raid. So it's just an extra hour but that hardly makes much difference, there's also other evenings of 'non-raiding' where I spend an extra hour reading or watching something.

Nothing really changes in my day to day life when a raid drops, for being (hardcore) you'd actually change up and invest much more time in your activity < That's always what I thought.

I dont get what is wrong with artifact dyable gear being locked behind an EX.

It is way more accessible overall for people who want this gear and I actually approve of this because it will do a major thing: If you want that dyeable glamour gear, git gud.

The fight isnt that hard. You just have to memorize it in bits and then react as necessary. When you make mistakes, it is no where near as punishing as E5S or other savage fights. The dps check isnt that hard overall, and the reward will catch you up a bit gear wise for not only your main but alternate classes youre poking at. Instead of having to grind out 20 hours just to get 1 relic weapon and armor set where a lot of that time was filler waiting around for NM spawns, I can speed that up by doing an EX trial that will get EASIER the more I play it due to experience and practice.

This seems way better to me, honestly. Im not saying every single thing going forward should be this, as I htink it would become tiresome down the line, but for being able to put your foot in the door for a relic, this is good. Hell they make it super easy to get a starter weapon with only needing 1000 poetics. You can farm that in a day easy and the weapons are decent if you dont have Ruby weapons or Allegory/Eden weapons. What we might see, for anyone who is curious, is something more akin to ARR or even HW when it comes to the relic quests. So less mindless grind in the sense of waiting for crap to spawn, and more "Go do X dungeon" or "Do Y fate" and etc.

And if you consider yourself a casual, then get good...No, not even that. Get Decent. The fights mechanics seem like a lot but at the end of the day, youre pretty much just memorizing 3 different main attacks he does and how he will mix and match that with some basic-B aoe stuff. Contrary to popular belief, casual players are MORE than capable of farming this fight. They just need to put the effort in. That's all. If you could do the regular modes of Eden 5-8 without to much trouble, youre more than capable of doing the EX version of this.

Yeah, I set my first foot in raiding back in 2007 in WoW. There's an insane big raiding community there and instead of cross world statics we have here, there you mostly have guilds formed to do the raids and there the recruitments were always with 'casual' or 'semi-casual' and then 'hardcore' for the people that invested much more hours into raiding. And I grew up with always those terms around me.
Most of my time I've been in 'semi-casual' guilds that were usually 3 hours for 3evenings / week. (which is similar to my current playtime in XIV now)
And then I've had some times in hardcore guilds where we went up to 5-6 days of raiding pretty much 'most of the day' / week.


All that in mind that's how I see myself today in XIV, I'm not good enough nor do I have enough time to be part of the 'hardcore' group but I see myself in the middle ground.
