Of course, people aren't always right.

I remember when people heard about Eureka and was all like "Wow, that sounds amazing and cool"

Then people got to play it and was like "Actually, this is shit"

It honestly seems like the "People will judge it negatively too early before they understand!" answer is more denial on the devs part.

Like, when Yoshi mentioned that they didn't want to release any information about ShB combat changes because "People might not see it in the right context without all of the information"

Yet, at the same time, when we got all of the information, everyone quickly figured out that Tanks were going to be boring (With GNB having some survivability issues based on initial tooltips), Monk was going to suck, Healers were going to suck and people will really like SMN.

Which is exactly how everything played out upon release when people actually got to play stuff...

Why are people treating 5.25 like it's 5.2? I wouldn't expect this numbed patch to give an overwhelming wealth of content. And even so, DoH and DoL has gotten a lot of attention this patch. That rarely ever happens. I agree some aspect of this game needs improvement, but some of these posters give me the impression this is the only game they play. Of course you'll burn through the content, if it's all you do.

The White Knights people who want to defend a game no matter what decisions are made (someone got offended) are strong in this thread. I knew they could come out more and more after 5.1 dropped. Because any criticism of the game they love oh so much, is taken as a personal attack. Which is ridiculous because all it does is hurt what they love oh so dearly.

But, criticism is good for a game. You can't blow rainbows up someone's backside all the time and then expect them to produce quality work. And this expac has actually been lacking in anything outside the original 5.0 msq, which was amazing even if it did end on a sour all-too-expected note, since we it's been well established we cannot have any well done villains that last beyond a handful of patches, its only the cringy ones that make the cut. And Zenos is the most perfect example of that.

But there are issues with this game that simply "taking a break" will not solve. I stand firm by my belief that Yoshida did an amazing job at rebooting the game but doesn't seem to know what to do with it beyond that. Nor does he seem to have an idea of what an mmo is and how ppl interact with them, a problem I see with a lot of the defenders we have here in this thread.

An mmo is actually something you live in. It is a world that you want to spend your time in every day and build relationships. An mmo is just as much about the community and the relationships you form, as it is about the game. But when the game doesn't give you enough to do to stay in it long enough to build those relationships you are missing a critical aspect of the game. This is why FFXI, EQ and WoW have been around 20 years. XI doesn't even get major updates anymore, just some adjustments and its still profitable enough to keep running. If they would do this same thing here, make a few tome adjustments and that's it, do you really think there would be enough to hold ppl for an extra decade? Of course not. Not only are there still things to work on in XI, but having relationships with others is still critical to your success.

FFXIV has been an amazing reboot and its great if you just want to stick your hand out and be given things, like nearly any mobile game. And yes it has a huge following, like mobile games. But the moment that hand isn't there anymore, what reason would anyone have to keep coming? There are no long-term goals outside glam and achievements, there is no reason to make friends and once you are done, you are so done you can literally walk away and "take a break". That is a horrible mmo design. And whether you want to admit it or not, its what is going to be the eventual death of FFXIV.

So, if you love this game soooooooooooo much. Maybe its time you take off you fan-goggles and take a closer look. Because if you want this game to keep going, you need to stop blowing those rainbows.

He is the game director I get that but the whole point of this is if enough people dislike something, as a game director he should respond, if we say absolutely nothing, then the chance of anything changing will always be zero..

You need to take a breath and calm down. I didn't put the man on a pedestal. I merely stated that is the way the game is directed. Comparing an expansion with 2 major patches to one with 5 isn't a sensible comparison.

Ishgard Restoration is just the same scrip system we've had for years but with a new coat of paint. 5.25 is just grind yellow scrips (again) and then hit your craft macro 50 times. I fail to see what is so revolution or engaging about this.

i personaly consider that shadowbringers is becoming the worst expansion so far this game ever have, not only we are getting less content per patch overall but we get way to much oversimplification, tank and healers are extremly unrewarding to play and just to simple and uninteresting + encounters mechanics with auto-positioning and even more scriped mechanics, certain jobs gameplay eating grass, half baked races that are getting even less additions compared to the rest, crafting simplifed twice in a row and all the content that hasn't been confirmed that wont come has been delayed to much.

as much ppl don't like hearing this thats doesn't change ins't true, at x.25 in other expansions we have way more content and much more interesting to play around, PPL could choose to play it if they want and currently we have nothing compared what we use to have, asking to have at minimun the same amount of content for the same price it's a fair complain.

now i literally hate all this casualization they did since release, it's making the gameplay worse since there is nothing to improve, everything is to damm simple that nothing is rewarding anymore specially if you play tank or healer, instead of screw over the midcore and hardcore audience they should have implement ways to teach the casuals to play properly with lvl 80 tutorials instead of making everything so simple that you rate the jobs and content for 0 to 3 years old, having muppets tutorials about how to play the game would have been a more healty.

takings breaks of the game bcs you are tired of the content and other stuff it's ok, getting force breaks bcs there is no content per patch and everything you love is getting destroyed it's not ok.

I mean if you are so easily offened you can't read beyond that, then there is no talking to you anyway. So it is what it is.

White Knight is a very common term for someone who will defend a game to its death, its an easy and not necessarily a derogatory descriptor and if you do not like it and take it as a personal slight, then idk what to tell you.
