Royal menagerie. 2 Deadweight healers, one who's so much deadweight that they were practically in their grave already. Me and my redmage and summoner friends, keeping everyone alive or rezzing constantly.

i cast 5 damage spells. my redmage friend cast like 2 i think, and our summoner was either dead or rezzing.

Healer LB3s. Then we almost wipe.

Fun fact: Did you know that if you get hit with Evil Eye from Bone dragon, you get inflicted with a hysteria debuff? And the cone of it extends beyond the raid room? You know now!

We had a very S-M-R-T B tank turn the boss to face the entire alliance. Only a couple were smart enough to get away from the huge cone, while everyone else was hit. I was behind the boss because MNK positionals yo.

Edit: had another roulette with a friend earlier this evening and got trap ressed into the cone, and ran to my death. Though I'm still waiting on the Starbucks in the mail for winning the bet on wiping to Ancient Flare.

Anyhow... another story to humor & to stay on topic: Great Gubal Library
Rolled as a SCH, the roulette graces me with:

1. A DNC --- the best of the bunch
2. A Sprout-first timer DRG --- Does not use any single AoE weaponskills, at all.
3. A returner DRK --- the classic 'you pull; you tank' player.

In most of the run's duration, there are no real trouble. I do wish the DRK would wall pull because mobs barely hit hard in this dungeon. Sometime after the 1st boss, the DRK decides to pull more than 1 pack. A bit surprised, I took that as a sign of growing comfort with mobbing. However, shortly after pulling the first pack beyond 2nd boss, they run, run, then STOPS few yalms from the next pack's aggro range. I was late to double back and aggroed them by accident, ouchy... damn. I wish they're more consistent in this doing, don't confuse me :( They weren't even pulling the mobs off from me and just went to the next pack after the first pack was dead. Okay...well fine. Tanked those before as a RDM :p I'm good.

At 2nd half of the boss is when all hell break loose. The first half of orb mechanic spared the DRK and the DRG; it targeted the DNC and myself, twice. No sweat, we place the orb accordingly and continue doing our own things. The third time (before the book summons 2 glowing 3-person arcane circle), the RNG chosen the DRG and the DRK instead. Yikes, just yikes.

DRG eats dirt being murdered by their own 2 orbs. Same goes with the DRK after stacking 5 vulns. The arcane circle ended up summoning two adds uninterrupted. I tried to res the DRK but Lustrate does not connect even though I saw those green digits before they eat dirt again (SERVER TICK, WHY?!). We ended the run shortly after by kiting the two adds (yay for Ruin II :P) separately between myself and the DNC as we chip off the boss' less than 5% HP at that point.

My comm goes to the DNC.

had an aurum vale yesterday where:
the healer did not heal at ALL unless I was in the double digits health and only then TRIED to heal but was obviously too slow at this point
the dragoon from famfrit apparently thought I was the cause of this and started giving me shit about something that didn't even happen unless I died due to no healing - "Use your AOE to grab aggro" - thank you dragoon, I have two tanks at 80, I know how to play the class
said dragoon also refused to do any damage at this point and just ran away from any combat, aggroing the whole room in the process and dragged them to me, who obviously melted due to 8+ mobs attacking me with a regen being sent in my direction at 35% not really helping
"I'm not going to fight because it's a loss of durability because we'll die anyway because of you", like, ????, at least TRY????
the sprout machinist was the only one aside from me who noticed what the healer was up to - spamming holy in narnia while the dragoon stood right fricking next to them while I get again bashed to death
we kick the healer (would've personally have rather kicked the dragoon because he was being super whiny) and voila, the run goes fine, even if the dragoon continues to be a bish which even the new healer quickly realizes and chews him out for lmao

it's such a simple dungeon and white mage is such a simple job at that level and why do people have to be so fricking egocentric???

just had a snowcloak where the whm was only using cure 1 at the beginning but happily switched to cure 2 and regen when the rdm and I told them that it's better - and even started using holy when we told him what it does! he was glad for the advice, too!

Spent an hour in the Vault.

Healer couldn't do mechanics on second or last boss and kept dying. One of the two RDM couldn't do mechanics and kept dying. Both of them left after the fourth wipe on the last boss.

Replacements come in, including a WHM that knew what they were doing. We clear.

I don't like scholars when I'm tanking. They can never seem to keep me up.

Fair enough, even when I choose to tank, I had the same sentiment. The ones that I came across are either stellar on-point, or absolutely terrible in performance.

This could be just a me-problem. I could've probably spent so much time in Zadnor, so long that I've forgotten how regular DF folks perform. I'm going to pick one from several runs that I did several hours ago: Orbonne Monastery via Alliance Roulette as an AST.

All three tanks really love to press their Provoke. Ours (C) started the voke and managed to hold aggro most of time. Surprisingly my party manage to react quite well with the ever changing directions and not getting hit 90% of time. The other two however weren't so lucky. Eventually past Agrias, somebody started a vote dismiss but it didn't pass. Somebody from A left so I suppose that was the person who started the vote.. Only -then- somebody brought up about the voking war and the chat turns somewhat sour.

Reaching Thunder God, tank apologized that they had forgotten this fight. No sweat. True to their own word, they almost never had their cooldown initiated at proper time (mm delicious unmitigated tankbusters coupled with vuln stacks!). No sweat, really! We made it through the encounter without problem, everything should be fine now that we reach the final boss!

... or is it? For some reason my co-WHM blurts "AST don't let me solo heal this, please." ... I mean... excuse me? I just replied "Really...?" but had no reply, which was for the best. I wasn't in mood to see another sour conversation on top of the alliance chats. That WHM literally healed so thicc with their Medicas and often buffs them with Plenaries that it essentially overrides A LOT of my heals (mostly regens). Who needs to -cast heals- when they already insist on topping up players? :(

I walked out with 5 comms, guess the other knew what was actually going on :rolleyes:

Yeah I'm not sure what it is but I more often than not have trouble with scholars. I've met one that said they were "ass at sch" but did rather well, but then that run in the Vault I had an 80 SCH that couldn't keep me up. Like, did you forget how the class works at 57 or something? idk. We tried four times on that last boss before they left. They just kept standing in stuff. Vuln stacks on the second boss, bleeds on the last one. Wouldn't cleanse the bleeds, so it eventually killed them. It was just Hell in a handbasket.

I prefer to think it's not me, my cds are always refreshing and AST/WHM have no issues. I just don't know what the problem is.

Now to slog through 59.

I honestly think its because SCH is quite different in terms of healing style and output to WHM/AST. For people who don't understand the way their kit works and how shields work best, it can be a struggle and they'll more often panic heal because they don't know how to manage the class. Even though I don't play SCH, it's easy to tell the difference between someone struggling with how it works, and someone who's good at it. Sadly the skill ceilings with it compared to the other two are so vastly opposite that I naturally cringe when I get a SCH healer; never know how they'll play.

Always nice when they turn out to be an amazing healer, though.

Well props to the new people in final steps for following my directions and clearing it first try. Also props to them for following it a... little too literally. I told them to "stay behind the boss unless it does an aoe". Unfortunately I did not clarify that it was the stack marker they needed to stack for and avoid everything else. So cue 4 people running away to "stay behind the boss". No one died though.

Could also be a SMN main trying out healer, except they're trying out a healer they power levelled to 80 through SMN and therefore they're missing the 50 levels of experience that leveling SCH would give them so they're floundering around with no idea what their kit does.

Bonus points if they've straight up NEVER healed before and are trying to pick up SCH without realizing that if you don't know what you're doing it's hard to pick up healing without those 50 levels of experience playing SCH.

Grant me strength.

Paladin in Darkhold invented a novel new rotation. Im angry that aggro is so easy to hold now that it worked.

As follows:

Riot Blade -> Total Eclipse -> Riot Blade -> Fast Blade -> Total Eclipse -> (start over from here)

In between that, he would just randomly hit defensive cooldowns, sometimes multiple at once. Provoke, Low Blow and Interject were all used the second they cooled down. I should have said something, but I think maybe I was stunned silent?

SCH certainly has the biggest learning curve. I think there's a lot of new SCH that don't realize damage mitigation is part of it's heal kit. It requires pre-emptive healing more than reactive healing though the pets help with that somewhat.

That sounds like a tank we had in wanderer's palace who simply walked up to enemies and hit them with the combo starter to get aggro or just ran past them and assumed the aggro they got from triggering them was fine. It was not fine. Nor was the Ice Mage they had with them. Thankfully it was myself and a friend and we just...shored up our legs and carried them both. No wipes. \o/

Seeing A LOT of sprout paladins that toggle stance on/off or face pull.

Got another one of those groups in DR where people left due to not having any "healers".

I've had some Dal runs like that. Someone flipped out and was whining the whole time that we weren't going to make it when I was healing when I needed to on RDM, other half had healing lost actions and someone else was tanking that wasn't in our party. We made it no problem.

I managed to get to 61 but don't have the gear to run dungeons yet. Gonna run on DNC and hoard fending gear I get. Most of my runs people pass all loot for some reason.

Honestly, I've seen better non healers using essences to heal with than actual healers at times. It is more than doable.

I had a PF run where both WHM's went Profane and one of the dps healed with Cure IV because it triggers aoe Bravery with Elder essence. Smooth 0 death run where bosses just melted.

Level 80 Dungeon Roulette: The Twinning

Single targeting RDM and BRD who also insist in firing their loads from the reaches of Narnia. The only AoE stuff they throw is LB2 at last boss. Even then, my regular trust DPS NPCs can help me finish this run faster than these two human players---29m spent as opposed to 25m.

Also when I decided to be nice by moving closer to target manually the RDM, I see [Vercure] on cast. Yeah nope. Heal yourself from now on.

Your dmg is extremely low if you are using healing actions as dps. So the bosses melting (if they even melted) wasn't a direct result of you being a dps healer. If you are out dpsing 3/4 of the dps players in your own party it means that 3/4 of the dps are not using actions and/or essence.

Yes it is doable to complete DR without a healer. It is not efficient though. One healer with ordained essence can sustain the party alone and still deal a great amount of dps if they use chainspell + lost font of magic because they have good synergy with that essence. They can also just use deep essence of the aetherweaver to deal 2x dmg while also being able to sustain. DPS with healing actions can't do that.

Sure, if we were talking about a premade party. A regular DR queue, you don't know what you are getting. If a player queues for DR, there's a chance there won't be any healers or tanks. For that matter, a lot of the people complaining about "no healer" in DR aren't using essences themselves, almost certainly not using lost actions.

100% this. No way to reason/justify otherwise. I had a 8 DPS DRN party yesterday. Me, BLM, just grabbed Cure 4, told so in chat and literally all others left, including the SUM and RDM because we had no healer or ways to rez. Despite me soloing and the entire run being atleast 7 man less, it overall felt smooth and short so.... I dont get why people felt the need to leave if you know how to use essences and actions. You know, the thing that makes the entire bozja content work?

When I go in as dps, I go in to deal damage, not to heal myself. I won't be taking any freaking cure actions just to stay alive and get carried. If I want to heal I take a healer job. When I am dps my slots are used for dps actions. Now do you get why some people are leaving?

Oh, certainly I would only be doing 'average' at best (I reserve 'extremely low' for freestyler/netflix players) without dps essences. My point was that I could sustain the party without grabbing a legit green class & by doing so I would expect people to outperform me at least on damage department in exchange for their sustenance (as is with any legit green jobs). My own dps >>>> 7 other players without Weakness/Brink of Death in most cases. That hypothetical green job player can instead go for Aetherweaver/Profane to maximize their damage. But that doesn't always happen sadly. Funnily enough sometimes I would also stay above from some red jobs on Skirmisher in enmity order list, it's almost baffling especially if I decide to rely on Cure III for the sake of... personal 'challenge'. :rolleyes:

I'm just tired of being that WHM that got tankbustered after the MT drops dead for whatever reason lol. Let me have fun with savior essence. :cool:

What's even more baffling? That the dev gave us the actual holster near spawn point for us to make use, but people act like they are absolutely in the mercy of "boohoo no tank/healer"-predicament. CLL & Dalriada on the other hand is a little different cause there are no holsters, but why would people even go in unprepared anyway...?

Then stay out of DR. It's not a standard alliance raid, it's content designed for any role to be able to tank, heal and dps. If you're going to be stubborn and try to play it like regular content, then you're just a part of the problem.

Imagine going into content that actively gives people tools to manage parties without the Holy Trinity, and still refusing to even put effort into adjusting as needed due to whatever random party composition you happen to land in.

You want to be pure DPS, go with a healer or tank friend to ensure there's one in the raid. Otherwise, if you need to adjust some actions and essences around in order to proceed with the run and not wait in queue for another with some healers/tanks in all groups, then suck it up and do it.

The more people who have your attitude of "I'M ONLY THERE TO DO ONE THING", the more often you'll see massive amounts of people leaving groups and inevitably making the whole process take longer for everyone.

With this attitude, please go in premade in such duties with a tank/healer by your side...
The Bozja actions are there for a reason. You can't expect to always have a healer in your group.

In the off chance you are genuine, I would like to ask the following: Please dont ever go near Bozja ever again if you are so convinced that the game should never change the rules of the T-H-DPS roles. After all, why do content you clearly dont like?

They just think it's another regular dungeon with more people and that's it - probably the reason why so many people ignore Essences and Lost Actions altogether. They think it's the same as using latest HQ buff food + pots in regular dungeons.

Please consider staying out of Bozja content if you think that you are "getting carried" bring healing actions in. Bozja, DR and Zadnor are meant to be a place where you don't need the standard composition party and you can be anything you want. I find it extremely great feeling that I can pretty much keep the entire party alive, tank, and dps all on the same job and be flexible. You can even go further and do the content without being in a party and be able to heal yourself at a moment's notice. My dps doesn't suffer when I need to heal in these situations. Only reason runs take long is becuase people AREN'T thinking about the team aspect and refuse to use something that benefits everyone (essences and Lost actions).

DR is being cleared most of the time because people need the timeworn artefacts, not because they like the content that doesn't need the holy trinity. I don't need to adjust to anything but the things which I enjoy doing and being dps with healing actions is not one of them. I don't have to suck up anything nor put up with bs. If I don't like playing with the party members I got I leave.

This is just ludicrous. How, just how do you even think you have the right to complain about the run taking longer when you are practically part of the reason why it is taking longer (dps with heal action and saviour essence, #Iamsogudatthecontent @Bellsong).

Then stay out of DR. It's not a standard alliance raid, it's content designed for any role to be able to tank, heal and dps. If you're going to be stubborn and try to play it like regular content, then you're just a part of the problem.

Anyone who wants to tank and/or heal as dps is free to do that. Why people who want to do dps when they are playing a dps role should stay out from the relic grind?

I want to use dps actions when I am playing dps role yet this is not acceptable and it is :D xD XD "part of the problem" because of vague reasons. What problem exactly? Wasn't the content designed so that any role could dps?

Once again, just use essences lmao.

It's all fun and games when someone says "healers adjust" but God forbid a dps gets told to adjust when the DR party they get thrown into either doesn't have a healer, or the healer they got is about to unleash hell with some whacked out combination of essences and lost actions.
