So basically when they revamped the crafting system, they had it so that certain colors of equipment had certain stat bonuses. People made a fuss, whined, complained, bitched, moaned, and gave critique. They changed it.
When the servers where being merged, the initial plan was to do it semi randomly. People made a fuss, whined, complained, bitched, moaned, and gave critique. They changed it.
To think they don't listen to us is pure conjecture and shows even less faith in the dev team than I do. (Not that I'm completely against them or dissapointed in that much.) Once again, the whole point of these forums is because they needed a a place for us to give our input. If you think the English German and French forums are a formality, well, I honestly don't know what to say about that.
eh, well When everyone is saying this:
http://gifsoup.com/webroot/animatedgifs3/1373070_o.gif
in every language of the world its bound to get noticed.
but half the time its just random bickering, hell im not even sure half the people even know what they really want...or rather i do, i just refuse to believe people just want a game with copied elements of every MMO in the last 20 years.
Just want to point out that at 2:54 the waterwheel. It isn't exactly rotating properly relative to the flow of the water.
Otherwise I like the rest. The birds almost sound like they are part of the background music, because it fits the earthy forest theme so well.
The music was fantastic, far more engaging than the current Grid theme in my opinion. The natural flow of the environment; the placement of buildings, the general layout, the small touches (The waterfall near the mail moogle) are all superior to what we currently have. Very pleased with what the team has done with the map redesign, and I hope the same quality holds true for the unseen areas of the game
However, as many others, I must bring up the animations; they're unnatural and jarring. It's not merely a case of being inferior to 1.0's animation set, it's also a conflicting aesthetic to the rest of the game world. It looks awkward and out of place, and for someone like me, that's a big deal. It reaches beyond the unsubtle stopping animations and creepy, almost doll-like pivot, as the battle animations we've seen share the same problems. Nothing seems to be fluid, have no transition, and honestly look laughable in some respects (The 90 degree, back breaking bend that happens upon every attack made against you)
I have concerns about how combat will work as well, honestly sad to see the slower paced, deliberate combat style thrown out for something else, but this is a bit off topic, and I haven't seen enough combat to fully pass judgement, so I'll just end it here.
From lv 20 to 21 we need 43505 exp in ARR
How much need we now?
If I could, I would like my own post :3
Though I'm guessing my wording was somewhat harsh/dickish which kept it from getting as many likes as it could have.
And if nothing else, the discussion is still going, which increases visibility and the chance that a community rep will see it, which has led to results in the past. If you want to talk about some other aspect of the video, go ahead I'm not stopping you.
This... not a fan turning the deep forest and lighting of Gridania into some sort of LotR-Shire with tall trees. Hopefully improvement to lighting will come with time, even if the music remains... (Right now it reminds me, to no surprise, of 1.0's alpha lighting, comparatively.)
That said, the sectioning looks pretty well done, and the city looks deservedly larger. Given that the whole of the Black Shroud has now become a Light-Brown Shroud, I can't really justify any complaints about the city itself.
You have no idea the power you are lacking to say "i don't like it change it" specially to a corporation like SE lol so don't say it so lightly video thread already has 171 likes ..your comment only 4 ..so yeah you are one of the very odd few that can't grasp whats been accomplished here by Yoshi-P and his team in youtube video has already 106,780 views and i assume most of them liked it :D too bad SE don't let us "like" those videos.
Simplest way it can be said is that 1.0 animations should have never existed in the first place, why? bcuz not everyone has 2,000$ rigs and those animations slowed down the gameplay experience example hamlet I HATED to do DoH bcuz getting on your feet after a synth took FOREVER in an event where buffs need to stay up is no good. just my opinion :)
I am really baffled. There's all this talk about animation and how it's lacking. Yet it's appears exactly like I would expect it too. The only "animation" issue I see exists in also happens to exist in every other 3D FF game I can recall. It's definitely their in XIV now.
In the video characters don't have rotation animation, and in always face in same the direction the camera is facing. So when you rotate the camera you character also rotates. Pressing left or right causes your character to run to the left or right if standing still. They do not rotate. They also don't turn their heads either.
So what's the problem. This is how you'd expect to play with a mouse and keyboard? Right?
From a purely game play perspective, how would enhancing the detail of animations improve game play? Would it cause annoying animation lock? Animation sequences will break out of an existing animation and straight into another all the time. This is how you expect it to function.
Almost any update will get a couple hundred likes regardless of anything. And I don't know why you seem to think that offering feedback somehow amounts to being unable "to grasp whats been accomplished by Yoshi-P." Separate issues. Just because someone likes something or supports something doesn't mean they can't offer feedback or point out stuff that looks bad, and offering feedback doesn't mean I hate the game as a whole. If I didn't support this game I wouldn't even be here. If we don't offer feedback then we might as well take down the forums. "I don't like it change it" is precisely the point of these things.
I know you want to take a "SE is a giant corporation, you are nothing" stance against me because you are butthurt but SE has shown receptiveness to the forums in the past. Read that thread and there are tons of replies mentioning how the animation is lacking, so it's not just me.
IMMERSION
blue dots = bad
char spinning with no foot movement when camera is moved = bad
saloon doors / swinging doors that swing one way = bad
jump = good
But, what I really wanna see is a combat video
"All that glitters is not gold, gilded tombs do worms enfold"
Why am i a butthurt? i am perfectly fine with how an alpha video looks like. More than saying there is a "lack" is the constant beating on the "it should be 1.0 clunky all over again" dead horse which is another fact you and the 4 that liked your comment seem to not be able to compute, those animations locked you on place ,were clunky and on top of that you need a strong expensive rig to play it fine with settings at max
I think they did do a good job with what I've seen from the video. The only critique I would give at this point is more life in the city with NPC's and such.

"Four likes don't make you a conqueror"
"It's better than zero likes."
I say what I want regardless of whether it will get me likes or not, so please save your ad populum argument. And check the thread anyway, there are plenty of people who agree with me through out so don't act like its just me and 4 other people.
You also act like the animation is the sole reason the game ran so clunky. Nope. Bad coding, poor optimization, and bad server infrastructure and lag were the culprits.
The movement animations don't even lock you in place, either. You can pull a straight 180 and its mostly smooth and responsive. The movement animations cancel when you put in a different movement.
Did we play the same game because I really don't remember my animations being cancelled when I tried for something else.
And if we're still on the subject of the camera panning and the character not moving....rest assured that it's fine. The Gridania alpha footage was done before current alpha phase, no doubt to not have tonnes of character models in town.
Some abilities lock you because of the animations. Movement just transitions based on your input. It's not like you have to sit through every animation, and it won't play an entire animation if you interrupt it. Just tried it in GW2 and it's pretty much the same. An animation only fully goes through if you aren't putting in any more inputs.
Actually, testing it out some more, gw2 is more responsive. But it still has far better animation than 2.0 from what we've seen, because it still does have good rebound animations and returning to rest and what not, so simply having animations in and of themselves isn't the problem.
I haven't gone through the previous 28 pages but one thing that stands out from the video is the lack of dynamic NPCs. I think the game would benefit from having NPC's wander about town and interact with other NPC's.
