Please more housing wards soon. And no more FC/Private Hybrid.

All FC's are equal. You can bid as much as you have the members and gil for, no system is limiting you. If your FC choses to remain small and poor, that's on you. You deserve what you put the work in for. If you can't afford 30 bids while another FC can, more power to them. I won my Ishgard large fc house with a bid from myself and a friend I threw another 50mill at. Turns out I didn't even need the 2nd bid in the end my one won. A larger FC beating me would have made sense. Would have sucked for me and my static that now use the house but a 100 man FC using the same plot would hardly be a waste either.

Get more members, get more gil. If you don't wanna do that accept your lower chances at winning that big house. A large active fc that can put up dozens of bids arguably will get more use out of the house than a smaller fc.

A rather poor choice of an example.

Keep in mind I haven't stated what my personal feelings are. I've stated what SE has said their intent is. The question came up in one of the Q&As around the time the lottery was announced and they said FCs would be able to enter multiple times in the same lottery period. To give larger FCs a better chance was the answer.

Don't forget there is a price to enter a lottery - the purchase price of the plot, even if it's later refunded. If you're going after a medium for your FC with a single entry, you only have to come up with 20 million gil. If a large FC wants 56 entries, they have to come up with over one billion gil instead of only 20 million. If one million gil is non-refundable, which FC do you think is going to be hurting more by trying to enter - the FC that only had 20 milllion gil so they're down to 19 million, or the big FC that had over one billion gil and still has over one billion.

Trust me, a non-refundable entry fee is not going to change things in your favor.

On the subject of one entry per FC period, you're still not going to end up in a significant improved position.

First, you're going to get more FCs entering as they would be less likely to be deterred by the number of entries being made since they know that each is a separate FC. People are more likely to enter when they know everyone's chance of winning is the same even if their personal odds have not improved.

Second, the smart large FC plans ahead. They break up into several smaller FCs with 4 players each in advance. If they have the funds for 56 entries then they can break up into 14-56 different FCs (depending on exactly how many members the FC had). Lottery comes, all 14-56 FCs enter versus your 1 entry and say a half dozen other FCs. That gives them a 66-89% chance of winning against the 1.5-5% chance you and the other 6 FCs each have.

If one of their 14-56 FCs wins the house, they merge the other 13-55 FCs back into the winning FC and reset the FC name and tag back to what they originally had. Then they funnel everything they had stripped from the original FC back into the new one. Assuming they had a house in the first place, at worst they have to start their entitlements, private chambers and workshop over (trivial for a FC that had over one billion gil available in the first place). Restarting the workshop won't be that bad because they'll have the old parts from the airships/submersibles they had decommissions plus tons of ceruleum tanks purchased with the company credits in the original FC. They'll have all the accrued workshop materials needed to unlock the schematics - or gil to buy those materials from long established FCs selling them off.

No matter what you attempt to do to create a "fair" system, the smart larger FC is always going to end up with a sizeable advantage. You might as well take your chances with the system as it currently stands.

The 300 players also entering for personal purchase will end up reducing the chances of the FC winning. The FC's 56 entries would end up that same 15% chance of winning that you earlier equated to being non-existent.

So sounds like the system working as you want.

In real life, people actually BUY lottery tickets. So, if one ticket costs $5, if you want to buy 100, you need to pay $500. That makes perfect sense because if you want to artificially increase your chances in lottery, you should be penalized in some way for trying to gain advantage over others.

On the other hand, in FF you only lend your money to the placard for the duration of a lottery. There is no entry fee and it gets refunded to you in full amount right after, you do not lose a single gil, henceforth this is what promoting large FC's to make dozens of bids on one plot.

One million is fairly easy to accumulate in current conditions, I honestly doubt that a small FC who did manage to scrape off twenty mils would have problems finding another million. And it'll not affect them in any way, because they are only going to bid once.

On the other hand, it IS going to affect FC who's planning to bid fifty times, because it's an additional 50 mil price on top, which may not be that much for a large FC with billions of gil but still, at least it is something that large FCs will lose if they want to loophole the system.

For as many people as possible to finally have a fair and even chance in getting a house, after years of that horrendous and brain damaging placard clicking? Err, right. That's quite an intricate scheme you have came up with, to say the least. Let's start with the thing that EACH FC they have broke up into must need to be one month old in order to be able to bid on a house. So, they need to plan at least a month before the lottery starts. Secondly, the level of sheer coordination to pull off that plan must truly be insane. You need to have 200 trusting members who you believe into with trusting the gil to them, you need to distrubute all the money between these FCs, you need to bring up the FC level to 6 on each FC, you need for them all be available when it's finally time to bid. There are so many factors that plays the role and it requires so much coordination that I honestly doubt FC's are gonna bother with making more than two-three placeholder FC's. I mean, it is doable but do you really believe it's gonna be the case every fortnight?

You are implying that these same members would also bid on it as personal, which lets be honest, most wouldnt, every single member would have to add the character with the house, teleport to it, and the FC leader would also have to be tenant and decorate it as they want it, and in order to TP to that house, every member would have to teleport to it via the friendlist menu.

Sure, on paper what you say is right, they could all bid on it as personal, but due to how unpractical it is, I highly doubt that would happen, or the new house owner would simply keep it to themselves and not use it as an FC house.

As for the stacking fee, at least there is some sort of commitment if you decide to bid on a plot, even more so in unrestricted, with a million bids, barely giving a chance to anyone else to get the house, if at all.

And yet that is exactly what some large FCs would do to gain an advantage. Players are extremely good at taking advantage of opportunities when it suits their goals.

Coming up with 200 members they can trust with the gil is only necessary if they have the gil for 200 entries. Few FCs are going to be able to go that far. They really only need to have as many trustworthy members as they plan to have entries.

The FC this character is in would have no issue coming up with 20 very reliable members that could be trusted even though there are only about 60 unique members in the FC. But then we also play as a tight knit social FC and not as some sewer FC that randomly invites anyone and everyone.

Every character who meets the requirements gets to leave one fc bid or one personal bid, and every account can have 8 characters per server. That is equal and fair. The chance of success is the same for every character. You get to access the house other people's characters have won as long as you are willing to share what you won with as many people. That is also fair. If fcs only got 1 bid then 4 people who aim share personal housing with the tenant system would be at an advantage compared to 4 people sharing an fc, and that would be unfair and unequal.

Just saying planning in advance is trivial and it's how I bought 4 new houses on the new EU servers. If an FC wanted to plan ahead you can make dozens of dummy FC's with EASE leveling them is ez I have done it on my own three times over. Splitting up and putting a trusted officer in charge of each fc to then bid on a large house really isn't that hard. And with it they will have several times better chances than you would. If they lose the bid one week they still have those same fc's to bid in every lottery going forward till they win. And if they get in early enough the sheer number of bids can put others off.

But ultimately it's clear you don't actually care what is fair, just what will suit you. A larger FC getting the large house is totally fair ^^ besides they said themselves they want FC to have the better odds so I doubt they will change a thing. Idk why it's so hard for you to grasp that if an FC house would serve a larger number of players then yes having success be based on size makes sense.

Honestly at this point your still even seeing mediums pop up on every lotto on the majority of worlds. I think there is almost a overabundance of housing for those that want one. At this point the problem is more the lotto system. Its a issue because it takes a week to resolve and if there is a conflict for 2 people for the same plot - it takes a week to determine who actually gets it. The thing is; there are other plots the loser can go get - but it will take another week to resolve and that's IF there is no conflict. So you might spend a month constantly losing - that's not that there are no houses - just that you keep getting in conflict with others that want the same house.

I propose you allow people to bid on as many houses that they want; but if they win they are given one of the homes they bid on at random; if they win multiple homes the other houses immediately get rerolled until a new winner gets one. This allows people to get into a house sooner.

Caveat being - if you bid on multiple homes - there is no wait; you immediately move into it the moment you win; if your relocating then all your stuff goes into storage as per the already in place system. Its up to you to plan for that possibly happening. It also would help alleviate "snipe" bids where we essentially undid the lotto. As it stands now the people with more time on their hands can simply wait till 9am the day of auction end and pick the best odds; which reminds me of the old placard clicking and prime time window to go clicking. If you could just say "Oh I want a medium" and you got the 40+ million gil to do so; then go bid on all the mediums you would be satisfied with getting.

Balmung has 25+ per SMALL every cycle. Mateus 15+. There absolutely is not enough housing or even close to an overabundance. And if there are a bunch of empty housing lots from doubling or tripling the number of wards, so what? Sub farm exploiters or new players can get them.

To be honest there should be a automatic process that opens 1 ward for every 3 that are "full"; those wards should ALWAYS be private homes ONLY to avoid exploitative sub farms and house sales. The wards will not grow infinitely because the servers do have population caps anyways - so if Balmung is filling up it would add supply on BALMUNG as needed.

As for Mateus I just bid on a private with 0 bids.

Forgive me if my understanding is incorrect but I don't think that should ever be a solution. That would lead to a situation where every one would just pile into a single server and would leads to even worse server instability and congestion no?

There's a reason why SE has rolled out more new worlds and for players who really want to own a house, they can roll a character on the new worlds as there's little to zero competition. Having said that, I am personally on Balmung itself and I've already made my peace with it being housing savage compared to other new worlds. I've also created alts on OCE previously to experience housing where there are literally still several empty wards right now even one year into the creation of OCE data center.

No worries.

Servers have population caps - so eventually your server becomes unable to recieve new players; I am assuming this cap goes in place before the server hits critcal mass. Ironically I do a lot of work on the other foreign DC's so I realize the scarcity is not a widespread issue; its on a few select cases and thats why I mention there is actually probably somewhat of a overabundance.

Not including the sole medium available, that's a little over 750 entries. The majority of bids on the medium are likely from players trying to relocate instead of buy their first house. And if course the entry period doesn't close until tomorrow so there will likely be a number of new entries showing up tonight.

While I didn't individually check the houses available in the FC wards, there were a fair number so I doubt many of the entries in the split wards represent FC entries.

Make of the numbers what you will. It's still not a good situation but it doesn't seem to be quite as bad as some try to make it sound. Another 3 personal only wards in each district would cover current first time buyers based on these numbers. What would then be left would be the relocation juggernaut as owners try to get a plot better than what they already have.

sadly.. yes. And i've seen a lot of the same names now, who recently won their plots, are trying to relocate AGAIN. :/

Wow! That’s really insane! At least next round looks more promising for smalls opening up, but with that many bids on each, competition will still be high for anything.

Sounds like some of them are playing musical houses! lol Not sure what they get out of moving multiple times… I mean, I’m going for whatever LB small I can get right now. I’ll still keep bidding on my dream plot if it ever comes up again, but other than that I won’t be moving. I just want to be back in a small. After I’m in one, only the dream plot will ever make me suffer through this lotto again! lol

I agree - though I feel they should have a ranked bidding system to speed up people moving in. Because out of those 750 entries; you can see how folks tend to cluster on the "house they want" rather then just being happy to get a house in general - the week long wait doesn't help either.

yeah sadly. The week wait is a pain, and another thing is that issue is when you log in, see someone having built or just relocated there... and then get told to piss off. Or even simply accepting back your money, it's humiliating seriously

Lost again… *sigh* one of my 3rd choice plots will be up for bidding next round, so I’ll try for that if nothing else opens up. The plot I lost was only 4th on my list, but I knew going in that it was a lot of other people’s first choice, so I was kinda expecting to lose. Just so tired of this endless cycle of waiting, then losing, waiting, then losing…
