Change the Raid Equipment Vendor NPC functionallty so that exchanging tomes permenantly unlocks it on the vendor instead. Means only having to gather books for say Omega Raids once to permenanty unlock an item. Means if you need to make room in the glamour dresser you can safely discard an item grab it again off the vendor rather than having to store it all the time.
If mobs are going to be immune to certain status effects (say stun) then they need to do damage instead.
"stuns mob, if immune to stun does 300 potency" etc etc
Also:
PLEASE for the love of Hydaelyn, let us turn off the spell effects of Player Limit Breaks and Mobs as well.
We can turn down players effects, but limit breaks aren't affected and take up the entire screen (RDM) blinding everyone.
Bosses are similar, tons of flashy effects we can't tone down at all.
Disable automatic camera adjustment when in legacy mode.

A option to switch versions of Skills, like I prefer Gravity 1 over Gravity II, and vastly prefer the MCH older version over their over the top back flipping
-Dismount on attacking something
-Out of range fade on the buttons
-larger health bars
something like pages for old alliance raids where if you do x amount of runs you can just buy the drop you want
An option to block certain dungeons, trials and raids from daily duty roulettes. I'd like to get something else in raiding more often other than any of the Crystal Tower raids and the first Void Ark raid.
When soloing, for shields to show up on your HP bar.
Make glamour plates save/apply hairstyle settings.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but to have the ability to toggle the mount smoke and special effects when flying would be huge. Constantly moving the camera angle when flying.
Actually fixing that bug that disconnects and reconnects the controller any time the device manager refreshes your devices on the list. Seriously, I despise doing stuff just for my controller to turn off and on just because of a simple glitch in the coding. A glitch btw, the fandom has already fixed. Make it official.
There's a lot of things that I-as-a-player would love in the game which I-as-a-game-dev know are not feasible, and I've weighed in earlier in this thread in reply to others in a few places.
But I have very strong opinions about good UX/UI design, and there are a variety of places I feel this game falls short. So here are a few UX tweaks that I know are feasible, technologically:
Timers on Status Effects in Party List
The client already has this info; just put the timer underneath the buff/debuff marker. As a healer, the difference between a hypothetical Poison debuff that's going to fall off in 6 seconds versus one that'll fall off in 30 is significant; the first one I'm probably not going to bother to Esuna, but the second one you had better believe I'm going to cleanse it.
Show Status Effects in Aggro List
Similarly, if I've got a DoT on an enemy, show it in the aggro list (with timers). If I've missed DoT'ing one enemy as we're running along, I'd prefer to be able to see which enemy that is right in the aggro list rather than having to tab my way through everything looking for the one missing my DoT.
Buff Filters
On that note... let me define sets of buffs or debuffs that I don't want to see in certain UI elements. I don't need to know that the black mage has procced Thundercloud if I am not the black mage, for instance.
As a healer, I don't need to see that someone's procced one of their abilities and can do a Thing when I glance at the party list; I especially don't need to know this if it pushes other things that I maybe do care about -- like, say, is the other healer's shield about to fall off on the tank? -- off of the edge of the visible buffs/debuffs.
Heck, at the very least let me make the focus target only show buffs/debuffs that I've applied.
Better Indicator of Your Buffs/Debuffs
While we're on the topic... the game already indicates which buffs/debuffs on a target are yours. However, it does so by making the countdown timer a pale green... which is almost indistinguishable from the normal color.
Make this more obvious. Sort your buffs/debuffs to the front of the status effects when targeting a thing, and make the icons bigger. Or make the countdown timer bright flashing yellow. Or just... something so you're not going "wait, is that my Higanbana about to fall off, or the other samurai's?"
(Yes, you can and probably should track your DoT cycle in your head alongside your rotation, but sometimes you get distracted or whatever.)
Put NPCs in Your Party
If there is any solo duty where you need to interact with allies -- especially if you need to heal them -- put them in your damn party so you can actually target them in a sane manner. While there were legitimately barriers to this previously, I know, that has to some extent been resolved with the Trust system; yes, it's probably a headache to retrofit old NPCs into the type that can be party members, but healers especially will thank you for the effort.
...ANYWAY. I could keep going, of course -- I have a laundry list of changes I'd like to make, like a 'Pass All' or 'Greed All' option in loot boxes -- but this seems a reasonable small number.
I would love when the Job System would be locked behind the lvl30 Achievement and not some random NPC in Gridania through the MSQ.. like try it yourself:
create a Character (preferably on a Prefered World)
lvl to lvl30 before killing Ifrit (or choosing a Grand Company)
and do all Class Quests of course
you will not be able to start your Job Quest because you haven't talked to Vorsaile (or what his name was) in Gridania within the MSQ and it is crazy to me that it is that way.
I should not need to explain the importance of the Job System, so for New Players to hide it that way is puzzling to me.
+ I think locking the Job System behind the MSQ is bad. Dungeons, Locations, even some other systems like Materia Creation or Flight are okay to be locked that way, not the Job System though!
A marker on your castbar for when you have 0.5 seconds left on a cast. I think they should embrace the nuance of slide-casting. (ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧
I would also like an indicator for when I hit a positional correctly. I'm playing as a melee for the first time past leveling it and I'm half worried that I'm not getting in position in time. A nice little player-side indicator that says I'm Behind or Flanking a targeted enemy would be nice. (●´ω`●)ゞ
Being able to price-check something when my Retainers selling inventory is full would be nice
You can actually gimmick this one now. Float a hotbar somewhere near your cast bar, then put an emote on that hot bar. The emote will gray out as the cast starts, but when there’s 0.5 seconds left—as soon as the cast is committed and you could slidecast—the emote button will be enabled again, thus providing a helpful visual indicator to learn the timing.
-A UI tweak that can increase the size of your debuffs and put them in priority ahead of the other party members
-Custom colored bar that lets you differentiate between incoming physical, magical or both damage.
-cooldown timer that you're able to customize font and/or size
-teleportation shortcut commands
-combos and actions that can be combined in one button like pvp actions. Other jobs that are not combo heavy could benefit with having trait passives that simplify a particular part of a rotation.
-Marketboard prices that can be displayed when you hover the cursor on an item and tells you which worlds have the cheapest and/or highest.
The ability to reorder or sticky the UI menu options on controller, so that the challenge log (which I check multiple times daily) isn't right at the bottom of a list, with useless abandoned features like the hunting log being inexplicably more accessible.
Add an option to Auto-Block FC Invites/Trade Requests/Friend Invites.
along with that:
add a window that improves Fellowship, and FC interactions.[Say for recruiting Fellowships, as well as improve ways for sprouts to find your FC, even if everyone is offline, or doesn't have a Housing Placard/etc.]
Making it easier to link and contact.
As well as send Request to join via said window/QoL Changes.
{edit: Making it overall easier for Friends/Acquaintances/Followers/Communities to apply}
this one is small, but an issue for me..,
Give Us The Ability to chose which Position/Stance is the main stance/Lock Position.
it's quite Easy to alter the position accidentally. or remove some options you don't want from the loop.
I would love to customize more the party frame, by opting out of these:
1) Header: I don't need to know LIGHT PARTY / FULL PARTY... I just count the number of people
2) Numbers before party members: Some people might have an use for this (?) but it's just clutter information to me (this is not the enmity number)
And additionally:
3) MP bar being changed for Ninki, Esprit, Heat, etc for the jobs that don't use MP
4) Timers on the buffs/debuffs
But most importantly, on the interface menu:
[ ] Enable mouseover cast for benefical actions
Edit:
I actually found out a mockup picture on google... I'd love if the party frames were like this (I just didn't like the bar textures but hey). And possibly the option to hide the portraits, for a further minimal approach.

I think it's mostly there for folks who use the function key shortcuts; if you need to top someone off real fast when healing (for instance), sometimes it's nice to have the number there at a glance so that you can see "Ah, that person is in position 5" and hit F5 without having to really parse the rest of the party list to see which position they're in (and thus which hotkey to hit). I agree it's probably useless outside of that scenario.
This is so much better in like 98% of scenarios... but then you get to Eureka or Bozja, and it is entirely possible that you could have a Logos/Lost action that uses MP on a job like NIN or MNK. I cannot think of any offhand, but I also can 100% believe it's the sort of thing they'd do in an exploratory zone at some point. I mean, as it is, with the right actions/essences/whatever you can have tanks be healers and healers be DPS and DPS be tanks and so on; having melee be casters seems pretty on-brand for the sort of wackiness you get in that content.
(Plus, the UX team really likes their pretty stylized/artistic job gauges; I suspect it would take a crowbar to pry them away from that design philosophy.)
A menu where I can try out all the existing gear in the game, preview combinations and dye. Include dungeon, tomestone and event gear, which is usually not displayed on the market board.
As a Blm main, make the button for Ley Lines turn into Between the Lines after casting it. I got it macroed, but that's slower than if it was an actual combo.
There's a couple UI/Hotbar things such as being able to opt-in to 1-button combos on a case-by-case basis, barriers showing up on the Parameter Bar at the bottom of the screen, and more central job mechanics that are buffs/debuffs folded into job UI, like showing Sword Oath/Requiescat stacks on PLD's Oath Gauge or showing MNK's Twin Snakes timer on its Chakra gauge.
An 'Adventurer in Need' indicator that displays the role currently in need, instead of one that displays Tank for an hour running while Healers instaqueue and Tanks don't.
1. Get rid of the the need to back out of the retainer interface one menu / dialog at a time. Just let us walk away to end the session.
2. Eliminate unnecessary confirmations if the action doesn't take more than a few seconds to undo with no cost. Example: I click on a door, and the game asks me if I want to go though the door. Imagine in RL if you had to stop and press a Yes or No button every time you tried to open a door.
There's a rumor that when WoW made it possible for players to hide the ridiculous shoulderpads their art team went ballistic. I get having pride in your work but to be insulted when your customers are telling you it's unappealing it's time for some self reflection.
CBIII desperately needs an independent team of UX experts to review all of XIV's UI bits and bobs with the power to put changes on XIV's UI devs' schedule that they must complete to specification.
Here's a couple:
* Let me make "simple gauges" the default. Let me make "simple gauges" the default. Let me make "simple gauges" the default.
* When using grid snap in the HUD editor all elements should line up and center properly.
* When starting anything other than the first class I do NOT need Teleport, Return, Guide, or Sprint on my main hotbars.
* When I'm looking at the MB tax rates list them all instead of making me query each one. If the UI is so FUBAR as to make that impossible then make everywhere else work like the Crystarium's Retainer Vocate.
We need a glamour book like World of Warcraft has to kill the problem with inventory bloat. The issue they got is that because they introduced glamour, it encourages hording out of date armor just because the last set looked better than the current one. It takes a LOT of discipline to not just leave a pile of junk sitting around, and eventually you got no space for things you need like crafting materials.
Eliminate unnecessary confirmations entirely.
You've clicked to exchange 3 'Baked Pipira Pira' for Culinarian XP and grand company scrips. Ok. We've detected that you possess the items.
Please click on the 'Baked Pipira Pira'. Please click on the repository slot. Please click on the Trade button. WAIT! Did you know that this High Quality item that you clicked on is High Quality? Are you sure you want to trade the item that you clicked to trade three times? Please click here to confirm! Ok, please click here to accept the reward.
So this is rather specific, buuuuut....
I'd really like it if the emote list had a filter so you could select only those emotes that work while sitting, or swimming, etc. I know that the emotes have little icons down below to show when they can be used, but honestly it's quicker to just click the emote to test it rather than deciphering the icons each time. But yeah, the filter could be nice :)
Off the top of my head:
- A market board in Thavnair
- The ability to swap crafting classes without having to exit the crafting UI
- Item levels that actually reflect a given item's quality -- why do NQ crafted items have the same item level as their HQ counterpart? The item level should be lowered on the NQ item to match its stats
- The ability to instantly leave combat when your roulette pops
- An option or keybind that lets you ignore allies when trying to click-target an enemy
- An option or keybind that limits tab-targeting to the nearest mob and/or to mobs within a specified range. The game doesn't always understand that when I tab-target in the middle of a fight I intend to focus on the trash mobs that are two yalms away and not on the trash mobs off in the distance.
I'd like to see a PF filter for "Reward Unclaimed". Currently there's "Duty Incomplete" and "Duty Complete, Reward Unclaimed". If you want a 2 chest on a savage fight and haven't cleared yet for example, you have to mark it as duty incomplete to make sure people who haven't already cleared this week won't join, and hope anyone who did clear but not this week will send you a message to let them in.
The reasoning is because you can straight up avoid mechanics with enough shields. As a SCH main myself, I HATE that they don't stack, but for the sake of the challenge in fights, I do at least get the logic. My compromise on it though: the bigger shield should get priority. If I drop a critlo on someone, another shield healer should not be able to overwrite it unless they can drop a stronger shield. It is mad infuriating when I'm setting up for a Critlo-DT for the party and a SGE overwrites my chonky shield just before I hit DT.
This, right here. It's so frustrating just waiting around to use the cordial again. >_<
This is actually a great idea. And one that would help plenty of people get way more damage out of their melee jobs.
QoL adjustments I want:
-An option to end a cutscene without SKIPPING the cutscene when duty finder pops and you're on the wrong job, PLEASE, PLEASE
-More waymarker save slots (minimally 10, which is enough for 2 raid blocks and 2 extremes)
-Inventory "pockets" for dye, for fishing bait, for materia
-Put tokens from raids/extremes in the currency menu (similar to tokens from tribal quests)
-Let me switch crafters while in "crafting" mode instead of having to close out of the menu
-Need a Mender on the island
-Toggle option for accepting tells in duty
-Stop genderlocking poses (female miqo'te should be able to crouch like males, I will die on this hill)
-Item search should include company chest/housing storage
-Minimally, enough glamour plates for each individual job (including crafters/gatherers)
-Set hairstyles for different gearsets or glam plates
-System should automatically "pass" on any loot you're not able to get
-Vertical housing placement (or at least set more items to 'tabletop' so we can just place them directly on lofts)
-Layout saves for housing (even just 2 or 3 saves would be great)
-Ability to upgrade your apartment space for an additional level (this would ease the pain of housing issues for a lot of people, I think)
-More pages for FC chests (seriously, why do all rewards stop after rank 20?)
-More hairstyles that don't have bangs, or whose face-framing pieces aren't so blocky looking
