What if they have details yet to decide and do not want to anticipate those decisions to not let the players become hysterical (on the positive side of the word) and if they have to change something later avoid the players to do the usual forum rage like is happening now.

Would be a bad financial decision to the company imo if they did not add the Viera males attending the forum requests from the other players.

Please SE include the whatever bunny on steroids they asking, as long it isn't a Kangaroo no offense meant to the real Kangaroos cause this subject is giving me nausea and is tiredsome.

I think NA or EU would have been the place to show male Viera and get big cheers. JP is the place to say 'sorry it's female only have some ronso instead please understand' and have the fans understand and not boo.

If they really do have male Viera waiting in the wings for a later reveal, this is all they had to do:
- Viera trailer finishes playing
- Koji: "Wait, but there were only female Viera in that trailer, what about the males?"
- Yoshida pretends not to hear and then moves on with the presentation.
That's all we needed, we would get the message. "Male Viera are coming, we'll show them later". They didn't need concept art or anything. By completely avoiding any mention of the males it gives rise to the strong possibility that there are no male Viera at all and they're dodging the question.

Then they should have said something. Anything. If they were planning on adding male Viera, then they have absolutely nothing to gain from hiding their existence. If they had said, "We can't show you male Viera right now, but they will be available." we wouldn't be seeing the "forum rage" that we're seeing right now. There'd be a bit of disappointment, but no one would really be upset (just like how no one was really upset over all the other things they openly told us they didn't have ready and would show at Tokyo).

Not really. All this states is that we will find out in 2 months if Viera are gender locked. The question asked was not a difficult one to answer, and their refusal to confirm one way or the other will generate animosity rather than hype.

Art Panel revealed nothing new other than bang options (I thought we already had a couple hairstyles that only had bang presence as a difference, though).

Oh, and folded ears.

I've seen nothing from Yoshi's team about subrace options or males for the Viera yet.

That being said, considering the Viera are a literal transplant race from another game... revealing how the end product for how male Viera look would be a big deal not just for FFXIV, but also for FFXII, wouldn't it? This isn't an original race that they can handle on their own, but they also have to coordinate across other internal studios.

So, if we are getting male Viera, I feel like waiting to announce it can be justified.

If it's the other theory, that we're going to get another race that's male only... Can it be anything other than Garlean? Which that wouldn't make sense, because Garleans are pretty well established to have a healthy balance in gender distribution. But Garleans are the only other race that we have any context given to us in FFXIV. I mean... I think of our reality for cases of massive male to female disparity... I suppose there are those wolf people under Doma... No please.

Ants? An Ant race? I'm not sure if Worker Ants can be female or not, but there's a clear difference between a Worker and a Queen ant. Similar to this Viera and Mi'qote setup, the queen is kept in safety for breeding, pretty much.

Unlikely, the expansion is only 5 months away. Most content in this game, even stuff like gear, starts its development a year before it's made available in game, 6 months at least. If Male Viera are happening then they already exist. Maybe their 3D models are not in a state where they can be shown, but at the very least they would have finalized concept art.

Well remember the last few interviews, such as with housing iirc, or some info during hw, back when Yoshi-P had some guy behind him in a suit letting him know what can and cannot be currently stated, during interviews, and how they even joked during some of the live letters that mr. 'soandso' is looking a bit head shaking in regards to certain info. What if in all honesty this is just the same thing, but this time due to Yoshi-P's new position, he has to do that sort of self checking on his own.

Literally, this is not the first time SE has held info back, and it won't be the last. They have been fairly secretive and only letting info out when it was good and right. Him not answering brings those times from the past up. Something is obviously hinted at, but to go all fear mongering and popping blood vessels is no real way to go about this cause 'we can't have the info now, so lets just throw baseless ragesumptions out there to cause mass negativity and panic'.

Garleans make no sense as a player race. Lore-wise, they're defined by their inability to use aether... Which is something literally every job in the game needs to do to function. Practically speaking, they don't really have a unique character model, either. Garlean NPCs always use other races bodies (like Elezen) with unique heads, or a 100% character-unique model.

idk but there was word of another version of viera that would be shorter, and those weren't shown either. I don't think we've had two different sub-groups of a race since hyur - midlander and highlanders. If there really are going to be two sub-groups of viera, along with male viera, then I could understand why they are saving that reveal for a different fanfest.

1st ty for linking that 2nd all this tells me is i have to wait 1 month and 20 days for them to reveal why males were not in any promotional material for Viera. They keep dancing around this issue creating unrest in their community for no reason it is stupid how they have gone about this and it will harm them more because if they reveal no males then the backlash be much bigger than now if they reveal males are playable they have no reason not to try an tease us with a joke or something everything seems wrong

Do we have actually any hint or lore for a lion race? Any sidequest, sidestory, lore books? Anything?

People seem to forget that Yoshida is a troll. He loves withholding certain information to watch people on the forums form speculations and freak out. People just need to chill and wait until AFTER the next fanfest and whatever live letters to start freaking out. So what if he didn’t say “there’s more to come” or point out why they only showed female? That’s the point. So people would start screaming “TRIGGERED THERES NO MALE” while they sit back and enjoy the show.

Regardless, I’m pretty sold on the leaks that happened a while back. Maybe viera IS gonna be gender locked and males will get their own race. Who knows? We sure don’t, so I’m saving my pitchfork for after we’ve gotten all of the information.

Lore-wise, they could have a dose of Resonant, and their ceruleum magitek equipment does magic for them. Treating that genetic lack of ability to use magic as a hindrance is really superficial now. However, I already reasoned out Garleans myself in that same quote you cherry picked due to being ridiculous as a male only race.

Nothing at all. The only info we have for a Lion race is the leaks from months ago. Those leaks have been incredibly accurate about a wide variety of subjects, so they're well worth paying attention to, but obviously nothing is set in stone until we get any sort of official word on the matter.

Y'all need to remember we have literally never seen male Viera before. Not in any game. Considering this, seeing them for the first time here would probably be a big deal. It makes sense to divide the reveals. We're getting male Viera, so chill out lol.

Well they can't be too bestial, or they'll break the lore by appearing to be Beastmen. Even if not outright banned from cities, they would at the very least be treated wearily and with suspicion.

On the other hand, Au Ra totally break the lore for new characters (when Yugiri is introduced, no one in Eorzea has ever seen an Au Ra before, even though your character standing right next to them could easily be an Au Ra). So it's not like there's not lore-breaking precedent.

But we've already seen concept art of male Viera way back before HW's release, so...
Also, it doesn't make sense. SE should know that not showing a male Viera would cause the community to rage (as it tends to over gender-locked glamour). Basically, SE made a very poor decision and if it turns out there is no male Viera after all and it's lion race males... well I know I'll have my popcorn ready.

Important for people to remember. Women attracted to women ≠ sexless and without any interest in beauty or attractiveness. Also, as a woman sometimes I just have fun playing sexy fanservice women. Japan is way more sexually comfortable than the West on this front. Square Enix specifically is also way more comfortable. I'm going to say that given how much they keep putting in male fanservice and pretty guys for their games, they know there's an audience for it.

Someone on another site pointed out the female Viera share the same facial model, which suggests Viera just aren't finished yet. This makes a lot of sense to me. We have half a year before release. Panicking is premature.
