Don't think some of the responses here haven't given me similiar initial reactions. ;)

I just try to count to 10 and do my best to consider someone else's view (with respect). Anger and yelling will get you nowhere. Listening and talking, treating people with respect, much more helpful.

While i'm certainly glad to hear that Yoshi-P is in better health than he was, this letter was somewhat of a disappointment. Not the letter itself, but the timing of it. It feels like it's about a week or two late, and there isn't really anything about FFXIV in it.

Subscription has started meaning we are now paying customers, so information needs to come in order to maintain the user-base. We're still waiting on that player poll that was supposed to happen in mid January (it's not mid January anymore). There has been no news relating to patch 1.21 at all. The forum mods are doing the best they can to give out tidbits of 2.0 but it's simply not enough.

I'm all for telling the community about your personal life and being quite open, but this letter either took too long to translate, or it needed to be significantly longer.

Anyways, keep up the great work.

Most disappointing and lackluster letter from the producer eva...(IMO)

I'll give him a pass since he has been sick. I would appreciate additional info on .21 ASAP though. Dungeon teaser videos or w/e, maybe a teaser video of some more job ws's or one of the new dungeons. I woke up and read this with my morning constitutional and ended up switching to EGM with a feeling of complete indifference. I want letters from the producer to make me squeal with delight over a juicy tidbit or screen shot of something we haven't seen. After that if you want to throw in a paragraph regarding the developement staff, go for it.

Guys, if this letter never happened, it would take another week for the actual info to come, and people will be all like, ITS BEEN 3 WEEKS WITH NO INFO! This was a letter to tell you guys " I'm back and ready to go, and while Im at it I want to tell you how my new years went. Do you guy know how to be Social? or you just know how to blow up over every little thing :/

O yeah I forgot calling the entire side of the community who actually liked the letter "Kiss asses" isn't rude. sorry my mistake..

Funny how most of us who complained about the letter and we complained not because Yoshida shared about their new year's celebration but because after weeks of no producer letters that's all we got stated our anger/disappointment and left it at it.

Then most of the people who don't share our view proceeded to tell us how we are the scum of the earth, worthless wastes, disgusting, inhuman, etc.

I guess Yoshi should have just not said anything at all if this is how people react when the developers happen to say something that's not newsworthy. Christ the devs at Blizzard post random nonsense all the time.

People need to get a grip if they are this upset about the lack of information we have had in the new year, let things rev up before you get all "The end is nigh" on us.

Blizzard devs can do w/e they want their games are successful.

Seriously, no one should be mad/disappointed/ashamed of/at anyone else for expressing their opinion. The decenters opinions and the supporters opinions are both valid because, that's right, they are opinions. If you don't want to read other people's opinions then maybe you shouldn't be reading forums. Problem solved.

With the way some people project themselves on these boards, I would not be surprised if Yoshida or anyone on the dev team throws a b-fit about us too (except they wouldn't have done so to the public eye).

A lot of people on these forums have difficulty discerning an insult from a complaint. One is an affront while the other is stating a grievance.

I have to express the same sentiment. When i read the letter, I was really downfallen. I mean, I'm sad about Yoshi's illness and stuff and happy he had a great New Year, but I really was hoping for news about the poll, information on 1.21 etc. I felt really let down, and a little upset.

Look it, all this arguing that we are doing is for naught. We all want this game to succeed every single one of us, has that same goal/dream. We wouldn't be here right now discussing this. So, come on people, lets try to get together and love one another right now!

/agree. some people have to complain (since they cant think of anything else to contribute) it makes them feel that their giving some type of substantial feed back on the forums. None of it has ever changed anything but it keeps them entertained. so as a SE knight as long as the complainers keep paying for the game its a win win SE gets there financial support and i get to laugh at the people who complain about the game and are dissatisfied but still pay for it

He's doing a fantastic job with fixing the game and he's working himself so hard he's getting physically sick (Something the whiners will never do in their entire life). I liked the the LftP.

The man has more than earned the right to post a few LftP that don't have much to do with FFXIV because he is fixing the game we all decided is worth a subscription.

Just last night I saw someone complaining about the LftP not having anything to do with FFXIV and that Yoshi-P is wasting our money because "we're paying him a subscription fee and he is throwing it away! (He's talking about the donation at the shrine)", I tried getting him to explain and tried explaining how things work but he seemed ignorant and stupid (literally stupid, I'm not name calling). My guess is that most of these people complaining know nothing.

And what does calling you that have anything to do with what I said with the Yoshi post? Seems like you got your panties in a bunch of what I said about the community more than what I said about his post.

So I still don't see how I was grouped with other people's posts that called Yoshi's blogging as crap and a waste of time lol.

Boyo, the re-percussions of making this thread are ringing true.

My two cents as someone who rides the fence between White Knight / Someone with High Expectations :

The letter was a good read and i'm a fan of japanese culture, but would have been best posted on a personal blog (facebook/twitter).

Its bad Timing for a personal blog, as the community hasn't heard anything of content/something to do since 1.20a (12/27/2011) (All we've had is cosmectic updates/lore).

Maybe instead of all the random lore we've been getting, we got some info on the upcoming poll's, new recipes or jobs, people wouldn't have frowned on this recent letter.

That being said, I'm glad our producer is back and wish him all the best in 2012.

I don't get what the whole issue with the letter is. The guy posted something personal in a letter. So?
Where does it say that he needs to post game specific timelines in a producer's letter?
He is doing everything different that the previous producer, and you all can see the results already. Game has improved a lot, there are a lot of new things to do, therefore his management style works.
If he chose to write something personal then good for him ^^

I am glad that he is feeling well and that the next update (whenever that WILL BE) is in works.

Wow, a single year goes by and people forget the content of the first ever producer letter. It was as personal as this one was. The man works him self into the hospital and takes some time away from running around like a headless chicken to create a personal lets work hard and do well together letter and people spit on it.
