They do cost 200,000 more gil, so they should at least be en-suite...

Last time they gave us more houses, they slowly rolled everyone into Balmung, and some didn't even get a chance because of that. They gave us what we asked, and ruined it.
Honestly, I am getting tired seeing "but on Balmung. Balmung is overpopulated and should just be closed to any kind of new characters (creation and transfer9 for the time being.
There are plenty of servers in the cluster so why not transfer away if the housing situation is that dire?
Yes, I do think housing should be instanced and everyone should have access but that's not what it is right now so other ways have to be found.
I feel sorry for the Balmung lot that doesn't get a house/apartment, don't get me wrong there but it is not possible to make all planning just for Balmung. However, apartment should be counted in the system like houses. Meaning if you already have a house, no apartment for you buddy, tough luck.
From what I get they will turn into eRP-centrals anyway....
Honestly, I am getting tired of being told that it's my fault I chose to join my friends on Balmung on Dec 1 2013 when Balmung was not at all full or a problem. As if somehow I was a precog who could see into the future that Balmung would be overpopulated. Telling people to transfer away is well. :/
Let me explain why the word usage needs to be specific and why it's 'not just semantics' that I am pointing at the use of 1 apartment per ward.
In the additional housing plots lodestone page
They made -sure- to note subdivisions so that everyone knew how many plots would be added per residential district. Also keep in mind how the subdivisions in teleports are per ward. You can only use the aetheryte system per ward but it includes subdivisions as areas within the ward in its hierarchy of teleports and naming (If you go to each of the 12 wards you see Ward 1 tab 1-30 tab 31-60. It's not Ward 1 Ward 1 Subdivision.Quote:
Wards 9 through 12 will be added to all residential districts. Subdivisions will also be available in these new wards
One apartment per ward, but there is still 512 rooms per apartment. Live Letter Digest clarifies it a bit more.
I don't see why it wouldn't be counted. The buildings exist in subdivisions as well. They are literally a separate ward, just mirrored and with a different entrance. But the buildings are there. I doubt they would lock those off while only unlocking the first ones.
If you have been on the server this long and don't have a house, why not share with one of your friends? Or maybe you have one already? I won't look you up just to find out your personal housing situation. If the situation is not influencing or getting to you enough to be fed up of the server, I don't know why you feel addressed.
I mostly think that any kind of transfer to Balmung and any kind of new character creation should be blocked at this point. Furthermore, transfers from Balmung to another server on the US cluster should be free of charge. People that are just not transferring because of the fee will take SE up on that and the server will get in a better state.
Once again, I am only saying that you should transfer away IF not having housing is getting to you in a way that ruins your gaming experience. This is not a call to everyone that has been there for years to abandon the server.
Myoriginal statement stays though18k apartments will serve most the servers. There should not be extra planning just because people overpopulate Balmung.
They have already stated that additional housing may be added to address the over burdened servers such as Balmung if the aparments don't alleviate the situation. Balmung itself is a bit of a unique problem for SE as while its not a designated RP server, it is /the/ rp server. While there are pockets of small communities else where any rper joining the game that wants to get into immersive rp has little choice but to go to Balmung. It is because of rpers that I imagine very very few people would actually transfer off the server since so many are trying to fight to get on it. That said it is both a player made and a SE made problem that SE has said they will address, the first step of which is apartments. So while we may not have enough apartments for everyone, we will most likely get additional relief.
Well it really depends on how the apartments are built into the game. If they are a fixture within a subdivision then maybe it would make sense to have an apartment in both subdivisions. However the apartment entrances could be in both subdivisions and used to access the same apartment complex. Or the apartment complex could be a pseudo subdivision in and of itself. The wording makes it appear 1 per ward, but maybe something could be lost in there? We'll find out in a couple of weeks.
It's almost double what Balmung has, I think.
Depends on what metrics are used. On one census I saw, Balmung had over 20k characters active. The ffxivcensus site has it at less than 10k, which ruled out over half of LuckyBancho's stats because ffxivcensus used who completed 3.3 and the minion to determine activity (and I know people who haven't touched MSQ patches in awhile or new players etc.
For the google census activity was determined through this: Active is determined to be any CHARACTER (as it is impossible to determine account association at this time) above level 10 that has had any change at all to their lodestone profile between the previous unofficial census and either of the 2 passes through the PUBLICLY available lodestone data. This includes any new minions , mounts, a change of job, any gain of levels, any new achievments, or even a single change in gear. So in order to be listed as inactive you need to have not done anything at all since April (the last time they did this) making it a fairly accuracte gauge for the number of active characters. Keep in mind that this means that if someone were to have multiple characters that they are active on this would count as more than 1 therefor the active subs are less than the total of active characters (though I would say probably less than 10% of people have played actively on 2+ chracters so it should be within negligible amounts)
Welp, we're not getting 36k apartments per server.
Only 90 per ward and subdivision. So 2,160 apartments per area, and that makes 6,480 per server.
There goes SE screwing us over again on larger servers.
So much for 512 each, grab one while you can.
First off, we are getting specific catering to next in the pipeline when it comes to relieving housing developments, so please, cool the jets. It's not SE's fault everyone loves Balmung.
Also, there needs to be a bit of checked greed here. There's already FC housing, and there are, flately, not 20k players all without FCs. FC rooms in and of themselves facilitate the exact same function as Apartment - and while there will be some people greedy enough to grab an apartment + FC room, there will be plenty more that will not.
There needs be a bit of realism to put these expectations in check.
We originally thought it would 512 per nation, as per thread title. We're just over four times that mark.
I bet it will sold out in 30 mins on my server...
6480 Appartments, and Housers can buy Appartments on top of their house. GG. And if they were unsure if they could provide housing to every character on a server, why not, oh, you know, stop allowing paid transfers onto closed servers? But they won't do that, because allowing transfers means income.
You know, you could always transfer off?
"But my friends..."
Is the exact reason why people are A. Staying, B. Want to bring more in.
Put bluntly, be the change you want.
Me? I don't mind the new blood we're getting in Balmung, and the fact that it is so full keeps the Gilseller tells down comparative to every other server on game.
Meanwhile, you are in a large FC house, so maybe apartment isn't a thing for you, or maybe FCs in general should consider opening up their doors to more people. I've always speculated that SE likely anticipated Free Companies to act like greater communities, rather than the tight knit groups looking for private spaces, which is what we ended up with.
Probably why apartments became a thing in the first place.
FC Rooms are a risk, you can end up with someone ursuping command, if you are unlucky, and kick people from the FC for lulz, resulting in a full loss of assets you placed in there. Especially bitter in case of stuff that you only get from Events or that needs to be crafted out of boss drops.
Plus there is the whole thing that you can't invite someone into your room if the FC has the front door locked. So a mandatory 'FC Room' staircase with own entrance would be useful. Something that is automatically added to the FC House. Or a 'clickthrough' feature at the front door, that allows you to enter the private room of someone you are in a group with, 'through' all 'locked' statuses.
The article (http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...ef4f906e0f7e1b) doesn't seem to mention how you actually purchase an apartment. Do you speak to an npc? Click on a door? Anyone got any thoughts or ideas on this?
