Wait a second...you are basing your opinion on another persons opinion? I could understand if the game was not FTP if you did something like that but here we have been for a year now and you are basing your entire argument on the opinions of other people? Ummm ok. So why did you play the game to begin with? Alpha and Beta were both pretty horrendous overall and not much changed at initial release. I can understand waiting out reviews for 6 months to see what people have to say if I have to pay to play but if I buy a game and it's free for a year you better believe I am going to get my monies worth out of it before I make a call on its worth. Your other point about "knowing the content before you pay for it" is all nonsense. Seeing a few snip-its of in game graphics and some fighting scenes here and there tells you nothing about content. It might tell you something about mechanics but nothing about storyline. Reviews in general are almost always biased and opinionated and the narrators only point out what they want you to focus on rather than giving you an overview of the game itself. I usually turn down the sound so I can look at the game and not hear someone else telling me what I should be thinking about a game unless I want to hear the sound effects. If it looks interesting and I like the storyline then I give it a try. If I don't see anything that might interest me then I wait it out and make a call on it later.

Reworking menus, a graphic engine and environmental aspects of the game does not qualify as a relaunch. They are not changing the armory system. They are not changing the roles. They are not changing any progress of characters. They are not relaunching anything. They are just updating and revamping some things to make them run smoother and/or make them more accessible to people who may have trouble with them. They are also reworking them so people can get faster response times from their actions. All of the core mechanics for game play will still be the same. In short, same game just a different skin.

Bringing it to E3 doesn't mean a relaunch either. They are just reminding PS3 players that they are still around and are going to show them what the game will be like when they get there. As one who watches videos and reads/watches reviews you should know that the game is going to be a bit different in V2.0 so players should get a peek at the way things are going to be and not what they were. Again, this is advertising a revamped version of a product...not relaunching.

As far as you being level 13...could care less. I realize that people restart characters on other servers or walked away from the game before and are returning so I read what they have to say first and see if they really know what they are talking about. After reading what you have said I have come to the conclusion that you do not have enough working personal experience with the game to say it is good or bad. You gave it a try and did not like it and are validating your opinion with the opinions of others. I think you made a snap judgement on something you have not fully experienced. If you bought the game and it was free for a year I am not quite sure why you would do this but hey to each their own.

When I first played in Alpha/beta I defended the flaws "oh its alpha/beta, will be fine later" after release though (and yes I bought the Collectors) I was a bit disappointed, I messed with it for a month and dropped it for a good while, but I kept an eye on it because I do love Final Fantasy...... I started messing with it again after 1.8 and even more so in 1.9 but to be honest, other then this one time story and me leveling my crafting and practicing mage classes, I wont get serious till 2.0

Is it still worth my money per month? yes, because it will entertain me with new things to do no matter when I pick it up and play it.

For me, I don't mind to pay.

But what I am worrying about is that, they going to make us to pay 1 year ahead before the 2.0 launch. And then once 2.0 released, we realized that everything is changed, and what we will have done in 2012 will become "Dated characters", "Dated Junks", etc. So everything we doing prior 2.0 is just simple wasted effort.

Then we realized that what we have been paying for, is to fund SE to continue the 2.0 project.

the statistics weren't my point. i know it can swing either way and THAT was my point. i'm fearful that more then just the trolls will leave and that could be problematic. All we can do is wait till it happens to see, but outside influences dont help any. You'd be a fool to think that at least some would not want to pay for an unfinished game during a collapsed world economic period. I personally think its a bad time to start charging on many levels, but like i said ill probably sub myself cause i am enjoying the game personally. Its the others I'm worried about. And New players won't be picking up this game till its done i feel, and this is an even bigger problem for this next year.

I don't think anyone would have a problem paying monthly for this if the quality was there. Based on the time-line it doesn't even look like a bulk of the server issues will be fixed until they transfer the data onto the new client/server which means that alone isn't worth a monthly fee in my opinion.

Some people like the game in its current state, I can't fault people, maybe they met some cool people who enjoy the game but my personal opinion is not worth the sub yet. If you told me 2.0 was 2-3 months out obviously I would be more inclined to stick around and shell out some cash. My personal opinion is I rather wait especially with all these cool games like Diablo 3 coming early 2012, I rather spend the money else-where for the time being until the game is worth it(to me).

Will people stop saying this game is in beta, alpha, blah, blah, fucking blah. If this game was in beta, then we would be playing for the sole purpose of testing and would not get to keep the progress we make, yet we get to keep all the progress we make, so it is a poor comparison.

At best you could say we are getting charged to play a bad game, but that's almost completely subjective, and many of us would beg to differ, because we are currently enjoying the game, which is the most important metric to consider.

Regardless, this is a product, that SE has put a ridiculous amount of time and money into, and they have every right to charge monthly for it while they are continuing its upkeep and expansion-- just like every other MMO company. If you are offended by that, then it is on you and your own perception of the situation.

I haven't been on the forums for several days because I'm currently building a custom water cooled system, so my computer has been out of commission. After reading about the changes myself earlier today, I expected to see a bunch of threads with people excited about the new design direction (which seems amazing to me), but instead I see a bunch of people bitching about every little aspect, as usual. Sometimes I'm not sure why I even log on here.

I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for a dev to read over these forums, because no matter what they do, or how hard they work on this game, it seems people still bitch about every little aspect as if its the end of the world-- with little to no appreciation or thoughtful criticism. It's probably a vocal minority type of situation, but nonetheless, I'm sure it gets rather annoying.

For clarification: I'm all for constructive criticism with some sound reason behind it, but it seems more and more the complaints around here fall into the irrational whining category instead.

If you don't think they kept the servers up for the past year to get free testers from the community your smoking some good shit. i don't mind waiting. I've been waiting since 2010. And yes, I log into the game but i don't really do much except run around. I look at shop prices, I check the market wards, I see how bad the server - client lag is. I check to see how the combat has changed (even if it is level 15). It still gives a really good idea about how the general basics work in FFXIV (which are their -main- problems). I don't need to level and see how the monster strongholds work, or how much EXP the leve's give. I do want to save my experiences in FFXIV for when it's actually good. I do not want to level up just to be higher than everyone else once 2.0 hits.

Bottom line still stands. You guys are just 'fanboy' enough to pay SE to test their content for them. They are counting on you to make sure their relaunch goes better than their first launch. This MMORPG now depends on this relaunch more than anything. It doesn't matter how much money they make each month in this coming year... if the relaunch does not deliver (and in a timely manner) FFXIV is going to flat out flop. Why are you paying them? They messed up. You should not have to pay for that. Charge us when the relaunch happens SE. Do not charge us to help pave the way for your relaunch.

I'll more then likely P2P whenever they impliment it however...I feel this game still needs a ton of work. The UI is extremely cluttered. I organized mine so its tolerable..but jeez, so much clutter everywhere. o.O The battle still needs a ton of work too imho. There is no "attack" button, you have to keep pressing it or attempt to use some ability to get it to attack. My BF was playing Gladiator yesterday and got so frustrated he said he is done with it for a long time. >.<;

There is still lots of lag that needs to be fixed in menus and such. Blah blah I am sure everyone has read this 5000 times. But yeah...I'll pay I don't care...I have the spare money. Just feel it needs a ton of work :(

It sounds like you're the one crying with all your poorly placed spaces, caps-lock, and exclamation points. I'm just expressing my concerns over the fact that they treated this as a beta, and then they will be holding another beta in the future.

Secondly, would it kill you to use a period? If you're going to constructively hold a conversation with someone at least present me with something that a middle school student could articulate.

Lastly, you're correct. They are making the version 2.0 XIV from the ideas and discussions that thousands of disgruntled users posted on the forums. What you're incorrect about, is that it is a new game. Please don't treat it like a new IP, or a new game. It isn't even an expansion. It is the game, that should have been in my 90 dollar collectors edition box, from the very beginning.

That is why charging now is not the right action to take. It further alienates the people who already dislike the game (that this entire 2.0 fix is trying to get back), and it continues the growing loss of interest and trust of the Final Fantasy brand.

As I've stated before, if they offered a 50% reduction in subscription costs until the end of the 2.0 beta, or start the subscription fees after the server fixes/UI were implemented; sure I'd be happy to help show my support for the game. Unfortunately they are just being greedy at this point.

And yes, I'd probably be more satisfied if they kept the game open for free, and then made 2.0 as an expansion pack. First of all, the expansion pack would only be 40 dollars: a reasonable sum. Secondly, they can't get away with that because it would cause more outrage than this debacle has already done. Εφόσον το παιχνίδι δεν είναι έτοιμο γιατί στεναχωριέσαι που σε χρεώνει ? Αφού δεν σου άρεσε και δεν έχει και κάτι άλλο να προσφέρει γιατί δυσανασχετείς που δεν θα μπορείς να παίξεις πια ? . Το παιχνίδι που φτιάχνετε ολοκληρωμένο για εσένα δεν βρίσκετε ακόμα εδω , όταν θα είναι έτοιμο θα σας φωνάξουμε να το παραλάβετε δωρεάν .
