Also no, only ps3 is holding back. And if XBAX had FF14 it would be sucky. PS4 is superior to it, at least in most games and it still can't handle a few things.
The PS4 runs the game with the equivalent of High PC graphics, excluding shadows to some degree, tesselation and all that fancy stuff, it can also easily achieve 60fps. It can achieve even higher, but the console would overheat.

TL;DR PS3 sucks, PS4 no problem.

You know what. Forget the graphics forget the extra features. I got awesome friends on ps3 and i dont wanna see them go just cus you wanna look pretty or do fancy things.

I don't think the game is being held back because of PS3 users.

I think there are waaaaaaaay more PC users who have hardware lower than that of a PS3 that play the game.

It's funny how often the PC fan base overlooks the fact that a notable percentage of PC users playing are not using high end gaming setups when they discuss this topic. I know at least 6 in-game friends who manage to play on poor quality laptops. How exactly will dropping PS3 support benefit them?

well heres the simple truth not at all because the game engine will not magically change if ps3 surport is dropped and all.

You all do realise that they themselves said that the PS3 was holding them back right, not on everything but a few? Read what Yoshi P. said about the PS3 vs PC & PS4 in several aspects.
It is also probable that with the next expansion PS3 support will be droped. There's many things they didn't add because the PS3 wouldn't really handle it. I can't name them, but it has been stated by him.
A PS4 is basicly a computer, their technology is not so diff from actual PCs. While the PS3 isn't. A shitty PC can still hold itself better than a PS3.
Also extra dev costs having to port the game to PS3, rather than PC & PS4.
There's also the example of GTA 5 which is on all platforms and they did the same because last gen consoles are becoming outdated and simply can't hold the same amount of "features" & other stuff as a new gen console.
You can't expect a console from almost 10 years ago to be able to handle the same thing as a PS4, that's just irrational.

.... ummm game started out on ps3 and pc so its hardly a port + its ture ps3 is holding back the game but i dont see the devs reworking the whole game engine cause of major costs and time so if the base engine is not changed it will not provide these super improvements many people seem to think but may add a few more capabilitys like fate sizes amounts of mobs and stuff but nothing to amazeing...

though sayng that it would be nice to have more item slots for our houses thats an major issue the ps3 is causeing.

1.0 never made it to PS3, it could barely even run on most PCs.

realistically, no not yet, the biggest thing holding XIV back right now is how they handle data saving, they save more often (twice as i recall) then most other online games like this do, which takes a large chunk of available server power to do other things, like larger inventories, etc. i think someone said they save every 15 seconds? and most save every 30 or something like that, someone more knowledgable on this could pipe in on it, but i think it's the biggest bottle neck the game has right now more so then PS3 support

That has nothing to do with the subject, that's a whole different thing by itself. You won't get better performance on your platform of choice by having more or less gear slots/retainers and what not.

I don't think so. There may be an argument against PS3 but the bulk of the player base of this game is working on systems that are equivalent or less than the PS4. The users with high end PCs are a minority when paired against the player base at large. So if you are considering the majority of the paying player base as "holding back the game" square will likely disagree. After all it is THEIR game, not ours.

I personally am sick of the anti-console stuff. Everything wrong with the game is blamed on consoles.

Yet when people ask for SE to separate the console and pc versions...people get worked up.

Honestly I would love for them to split us up. Keep Playstation 4 & PS3 together, and let PC players have their servers.
Then they can have 2 optimized versions.
PC can have all the bells, whistles, add-ons, extra graphics, and etc that you all want.

And console players can be rid of the bias and just play the game.

Actually we wouldn't be able to play because that would make queue times go up drastically

Server population would become tiny which in turn makes party finder useless

I know it would ruin the queue times and etc.
However if we got split up then the blame could no longer be placed on consoles.
That excuse goes out the window via process of elimination.
Now folks have to focus on the REAL problems.

The whole blaming consoles thing just needs to stop.

I personally don't care if ppl are pc or ps3 or ps4.
Rumor is we'll have Nintendo NX players too...if SE's talks went well with Nintendo.

Either way sharing/coexisting with console players seems to be a huge issue to a lot of pc players.

If you ask me...the issues with the game are all the remnants of 1.0 that couldn't be fully removed from the game's foundation.
The servers, armory system, apparently parts of the combat engine, aspects of the UI, and the way data is managed/stored.

But apparently it's all Playstation's fault.
Guess console players owe everyone a huge apology.

I wonder how this game would be doing if ARR had not released on those filthy consoles?

You're either ignorant of the situation or trolling. Either way, you necro posted this bait.

PS4 runs the equivalent of DX11, it's just not called DX11. DX11 is nothing more than an API library designed to grant developers easier access to certain kinds of functionality that a GPU provides in hardware. The GPU inside the PS4 is a DX11 capable GPU (i.e. it has the necessary hardware to cover the DX11 feature set & more), it's a PC GPU after all. Sony doesn't run MS Windows as their OS (thank god), so they don't/can't use the DX11 libraries. But there is nothing to stop them using their own customized low level APIs to provide identical functionality at a level even closer to the metal.

Whether or not you segregate them, if they're getting the same content, they'd still technically be holding back PC players. Content would still be tailored to work on PS3. People would still make threads about PS3 holding back the game.

And you know it is. >_>; There is no reason to be upset, or take this all personally lol.

Also, the segregation is a terrible idea. Would seriously break up already-established statics, FCs, etc.

There is one other huge disadvantage to segregation. During the week i play at home on ps4. During the weekends i visit my parents and play the same character on a gaming laptop. If, god forbid, SE decided to segregate that I would no longer be able to do that. Also it would put an end to gardening for me since I wouldnt be able to log in during weekends on my ps4 based character to water the plants.

Have people learned nothing about segregation from the last century about how wrong it is? Have people already forgotten?

Its way to easy to blame every design decision on console shortcomings.

I've never had any graphics issue's on ps4, but I've had my graphics on pc go corrupt a few times up to the point i had to shut down the game and start it again.
Also my ps4 never crashed on me except for a short time ago when there was a know teleport bug. Has been fixed and I enjoy a 100% stable system.

My PC crashes on occasion closing down the game without warning.

Draw your own conclusion about which system is more stable? :P

Does it matter? Nope, both are stable enough to be playable.

Don't get me wrong. I am not anti-pc.

In truth I call for the split because it seems to be what most PC players like to push for.
They always say that consoles are holding the game back...so while it may sound/come off as immature I want those players (Those who blame everything on consoles.) To get their way, so they can immediately turn around and beg to be reintegrated with console players.

Because I have an idea on how the cards will fall...

First they will celebrate.
Then queue time will become painfully long, then they'll notice many issues still persist/are not being fixed & SE will claim it's due to staffing issues & the old architecture of 1.0 (the real culprit in many aspects), then the pc player base will turn on itself for a little while (no room to blame consoles anymore, now it'll be lower end systems, and bad coding/threading holding the game back), then they'll say they should make the game cross platform again, SE will say can't cause some reasons, no one is happy.

The moral: Becareful what you ask for.

I guess you could say it's the same logic towards making the game more like FFXI & for the game to become ridiculously hardcore/full hardcore.
Then when things go the way of Wildstar, Vanguard, & etc.
Folks be like: "Well...we were wrong after all."

Of course this is an extreme view and it would be the death of the game. But the vindictive side of me would love for it to happen so I never have to hear certain topics again.

If I had a dollar for everytime I hear console limitations in game and on the forums.
I'd have paid off a new car by now.

Simply put, PS3= Yes PS4= No. There is a large chunk of the playerbase who play on PS4, and if you were to take that away.....well, bye bye population/revenue.

What they really should do...
Is borrow a little from minecraft and have multiple versions.

PC/Mac Version & Console Version

With the PC/Mac Version having the top notch graphics, add-ons, features that PC players are begging for.

Console Version
An rebuilt version fully optimized for the select console, allowing smoother UI, textures, mapping, loading, and etc all for the console it is on.
IE: FFXIV (PS4 version, X-Box One Version, Nintendo NX Version, etc.)
This way each console can run the game to its strengths & unique features.

As SE wants cross-play they can have Console players cross-play with other consoles (PS, XB, NX).

This way the game can remain cross play (consoles with console, PC with Mac), end all the drama with the PC userbase, and from that point the only issue with the game will be on servers, coding, and some skeletons left in the closet from 1.0.

Side note:
Before someone says there is no drama with PC.
Try going a month without hearing a rant over consoles ruining the game development, and players not wanting console players in their raids.
It was even stated by people earlier in this thread.

Most console raiders...raid with fellow console players.
PC raid with PC.

Back on topic:
Splitting the clients up and redesigning/reorganizing the cross platform aspects would smooth out a lot of issues in this game.
As everyone would have a fully optimized, detailed, and top of the line experience for their platform of choice.

It's win-win for the majority.

What happens when one version clearly becomes SE favoured version? (in your minecraft example this is PC)

It works with Minecraft because you don't rely on others for progression.

However as this is an MMO stuff happens...
Example:
When my friend and I (both PS4) tried to run LoA we were kicked for not being on PC. (They demanded us to get on Mumble. Which is difficult on a ps4, as our PCS are in different rooms.)
I've also been ostracized numerous times because pc players don't trust consoles.
When we tried to get him a T5 clear (It's for a Trophy), same situation, he recently was asked if he needed to run some raids as his guildmates wanted the 1st timer bonus for their relics. They discovered he was on console and couldn't voice chat with them so they withdraw their offer, and informed him that he should invest in a PC before attempting anything beyond dungeons.

In my case...
Trying to clear EX Primals for example.
I had a pc player and his buddies lecture me that I need a pc so I can get a perfect connection, communicate (keyboard isn'the good enough it seems), and experience the "real" game, then boot me before we even made 1 attempt.
(Before you ask he knew I was on console because I could not join their teamspeak.)
Sadly this happens a lot with EX Primals I eventually stopped attempting that aspect of the game.

I admit I have become very jaded towards pc players. But I don't mistreat them, nor am I rude to them.
You are probably right in that I'm one of the lucky few who bumps into Toxic players.
I've seen the worst of this community and while I try to be upstanding I'm worn down now.

I just do my own thing and try to not lose my temper when I hear/see console limitations get thrown around.

I'm at the point where I feel the saying: "If you can't play nice with each other then don't play with each other at all." Feels valid.

Sorry, but if PS4 version (which is currently just the PC version without DX11) get put together with PS3 version, then PC version should get put together wih a Tablet version

1. You got kicked because you didn't entered mumble, not because you played on PS4 (don't exist an smartphone app for that?)
2. You don't really need an voice programm for Crystal Tower. Strategy are fast writen down in the chat. So you got kicked because the others were bad players, not because of PS4
3. PC players can't see if anyone play on a console anyway

You're wrong on this one. 60 FPS in those areas is relatively easy for "above average" computers like mine, or the one of my girlfriend. GTX960 with FX-8350 and GTX 660TI + Phenom IIX6 (running on 1080p with all effects on and highest grafics settings) does the trick and those are by far not the most expensive pieces of hardware.

For me I'd have to be in my room and downstairs at the same time in order to play the game and be on mumble.

It just wasn't possible. But they didn't care.

And yes I know they can't tell. But most can figure it out if you can't enter their voice chat program.

That still doesn't mean it's a console issue and honestly (those players weren't worth your time), your entire idea about splitting the community up is terrible. I'm not sorry, it really is a bad idea (I've played on the PS3 and PS4 up until 2015 and I've only been kicked once in ARR's life time. It wasn't over PCvsConsole, which I'm thinking you're just really unlucky to encounter supposedly frequently).

While I agree, in part, with your response. You can differentiate between a console player and a PC player by examining the character. Console players will have their exclusive console based gamertag listed.
