I'm glad I haven't glitched into the areas then I suppose. Should be new to me. :D
God forbid they use areas that weren't officially accessible. Should probably just redo all the unreleased items while we're at it.

Dude, how are you gonna react when 1.18 comes and you see that all of us that posted links to people hacking into the dungeons that are locked off [the ones we already have on our computers] are used as the dungeons in the patch? Because, I'm just saying, that's what's going to happen. I'm not necessarily saying that it's a bad thing... they could be pretty fun.
But, you keep flaming us as if we're lying and spreading false info when we're not.
Facts:
-Those 2 maps are already in the game, we know what they look like, a lot of us have seen the YT videos.
-Those weapons and armor shown are already in the game, we even have differently-skinned counterparts usable, and those aren't different enough to say "wow, that's something new". People are allowed to be unhappy or upset with this.
You can't just go around calling us trolls and liars.
Oh man people are still throwing a hissy fit over 2 screenshots? Hell neither of them look like anywhere I have ever been, aside from keeping with the general theme of each zone.
Time will tell young grasshopers, don't jump to defence or offense so quickly over something so amazingly stupid in the first place.
The content is designed to be played by ranks 25 AND ABOVE (+) so instituting a level cap seems nonsensical to me. I don't NEED to run back through the dungeon to get rank 25-35 gear for my level 50 PGL. The gear I have is already better. Sure I could use a level 35 THM weapon, but what does it matter if I get it on a level 25 THM or a rank 50 PGL? I don't need that gear to level my THM. I could have my THM to 50 without running the dungeon ever in my life, I have done it twice already.
If you want a challenge, then please by all means run the dungeon with a group of 4 level 25s, but I don't see any GOOD reason for forcing the entire server to do it.
Now. That being said. If there is something in the level 25 dungeon NEEDED to run the level 45 dungeon, then by all means please DO cap it. I liked the CoP missions that capped the party because it was a instance in a series of progression. THAT makes sense to me.
why i hate coming to these damn forums...
page 1 = excitement then click the 'last page' button... all a bunch of poo poos.
My dad is stronger than your dad!
Mmk, I took a trip

Point out the differences everyone! :)
You must have missed the "currently open dungeon" part. I don't care in the leaset if those dungeons are completely new or are the ones that are already there, since they are still new content by any form of logic.
Unconfirmed, and even if they are, you don't know how much and how they have been reworked.Quote:

The copy/paste mantra that's going around is a plain lie, as those dungeon are no copy/paste of any environment currently accessible in the game. Ergo, if you don't want to be called out on spreading false information, simply don't.
The whole shape of the cave is 100% different. That's quite a big one.
Do Ogres fit with the theme of the dungeon?
Do Coeurls?
Unless I'm mistaken, Coeurls would be the last type of mob you'd see in a dungeon. Beastmen like Goblins? Sure, but given your hacking ways, I'm sure even you didn't see what mobs exist in these dungeons yet beyond the screenshots because there's no spawn points yet. Where's your information coming from that the only mobs there are toads, anglers and skeletons? When I played FFXI they showed off Trolls/Flans/Lamia in the ToAU Assault updates and I can say with 100% certainty that I've fought more than Trolls, Flans and Lamia in my Assault days.
SE's track record so far with FFXIV doesn't exactly work in their favour. It's only natural that most of us are doubtful and expect the worst until they give us any reason to think otherwise.
Making broad speculation without even reading the text, of the announcement by the way, as it clearly talks about "foreign troops", which have nothing to do with chigoes, skeletons or giant fishes.
But of course when actual information conflicts with whining, whiners tend to ignore it like it didn't exist.
I'm not too happy to see that they have time limits. It also tells me they don't have much of a dedicated instance server if time limits had to be tossed in.
I would have called these instanced dungeons, though. 4/8 players doesn't imply much of a raid to me. Also, how the did Yogg-Saron become part of a Padjali legend? *runs*
Note: Yes, I know about Yog-Sothoth. In just couldn't resist.
You can't design content to be equally challenging and engaging with such a disparate rank range. A rank 25 monster is a non-trivial obstacle for a rank 2 character, but a rank 50 character will kill it in 3 seconds.
Because preventing people from zerging through the new content with overlevelled characters elongates the shelf life of the content and provides a more challenging, thus a more engaging and rewarding experience for the userbase.
I assume those "foreign troops" are just like any other humanoid already in the game, with maybe slightly different armour and different names.
Even by track record:

Proves that there's quite a bit they can do that you can't judge by "oh look screenshot shows 2 mobs I've seen before, FAIL!"
First impressions of Abyssea was "it will fail, nothing new nothing exciting yet more fail content from SE"
....fast foward almost a year later. It's called Final Abyssea XI for a reason.
Abriael what you may possibly not be understanding by "copy paste" is that it's an over-exaggeration of "similar" environments. There's generally little to no creative work that differentiates the majority of areas within themselves to say "YES there's some originality here!"
All neighboring areas around the 3 major cities are rehashed, they're massive areas with "copy-paste" environments. Yeah each hill and each bump and each rock is slightly different than the last, but all in all it all looks the same.
I'm trying to keep it as factual as possible here so it's not a war of my opinion vs. yours. Fact is, SE has received negative criticism for this exact topic, fact is, SE has by word admitted to it (although in their defense, file size has been their argument) and fact is that THAT - LOOKS like mun-tuy cellars. It's likely not an EXACT replica but based on previous trends, what is likely is that just around the corner of that low-res preview image, is going to be more of the same textures, same vines, mossy brick walls same same same so on and so forth. nothing visually in that preview is exciting, and certainly NOTHING is indication of something that isn't rehashed.
I won't troll and go as far to say everythin in the dungeon is going to be the same. That'd be ignorant as we haven't seen the final product. But again, you can't blame some of us for being less than excited based on WHAT WAS SHOWN...
Just to point out another similarity between this and Mun-Tuy/Tam-Tara: one of the main mobs in those zones is the "poacher" mob. Mithras with face masks and Spears/Knuckles named "Toad Poacher", etc.Quote:
...the endless cells of this notorious dungeon once held such heinous criminals as poachers and arsonists.
That is your opinion, which you are more than entitled to, but I disagree. If anything, I see it as penalizing players for getting to r50. Shouldn't I be getting an appropriate reward for getting to rank 50? Instead you'd have be be capped at 35 just so I can run through content that WOULD have been challenging when I was rank 25, for gear that I don't even need. Seems like a recipe for failure to me.
If they put a level cap on content like this, I will most likely ignore it because I would rather play content appropriate to my level rather than being forced to play content that is meaningless to my level.
Opinions are getting to be overrated now in days :/. Without true Logical Facts (that is not even out here) everything right now is still speculation/theories. So in my opinion this whole thread is wrong till the Facts become known
Anything to do other than what we have to do now is good. ANYTHING :p
Oh, I have an actual question.
If the Black Shroud map is being redone, why are we getting a dungeon at Silent Arbor, north of Tranquil, of the old map?
Makes me worry that it's not as big a 'redo' as mentioned :x
Its probably non-capped for the best. Sure people can blast through at level 50, but they could always switch to a lower level job just to play the are at a recommended difficulty. Not to mention people would whine about capped areas till the end of time.
It might not be a remake of the entire field, just certain sections of the area.
On that point, I don't actually remember ever reading a dev that strait out said they are Redoing the Black SHroud. I have read insinuation that it might be, and seen others post there thoughts about it, but I have never seen a dev quote that said "we are for sure redoing this entire zone of the game."
Not saying that it hasn't happened. I just wanted to know if anyone could provide a link if they have and I missed it.
Also, to answer your statement: The dungeons could provide the quest areas that move the story towards the zone being redone. They have seemed to want to incorporate the story to coinicide with the changes they are making.
Even without a cap, you wouldn't be playing content "appropriate to your level" anyway. Blazing through a rank 25 dungeon as a rank 50 character is not playing content "appropriate to your level".
The more substantial map redesigns are waaaaay in the future. Dungeon content and battle reform are the priorities right now. Can't do everything all at once. Gotta implement the changes one at a time.
Of course, however it never went as far as bouncing back and forth saying, "oh this is how its going to be" lines yes I have seen some in this thread like. for instance " Toto-Rak looks exactly the same as Tam/Muy" What proof is there 1 Picture of a particular spot? I really can't form a well thought out Opinion with only 1 picture and a back story of the place.
On the JP forums someone said... isn't 4-8 only instance dungeons basically same as MO and not MMO?
I must agree.. how is 4-8 players instance dungeon.. a RAID? or a MMO?
