I see, yeap for the extra oils, definitely earrings/wrist. I did earrings after my ring cos earrings is BiS and the HA sucked (less accuracy and gives SS). The wrist comes next because the weathered version by itself can hold its own against the HA due to the whooping 17 acc it gives, helps heaps when you're going under accuracy.

Yes but that's totally wasted. Hero's Ring's +16 Crit and +8 Det > +2 Dex from the weathered version and the skill spd given is kinda unwanted.

If you still need more accuracy, use the Allagan Ring. Auroral Ring (weathered or not) is basically a higher ilvl Allagan Ring

Would it be worth to swap the Relic Animus for a Weathered Rosenbogen and swap myth pants with allagan to get back some accuracy?
I'm not sure I'll be able to unweather it straight away so I don't really know if it would be best to pass it to someone else in my group that could afford it and make good use of it or not. What do you say?

Based on stat weightage (ignoring accuracy):

Artemis Bow Animus: 443.82
Weathered Rosenbogen: 454.392

Nett Diff: +10.572

Bard's Tights: 45.116
Allagan Trousers of Aiming: 36.56

Nett Diff: -8.556


Total nett diff: +2.016


Effectively you can say with Weathered Rosenbogen + Allagan Pants you gained 2 DEX over Animus + Bard Tights combination.


EDIT: However you might want to consider the fact that this "2 DEX" worth of upgrade comes in the form of +12 skill speed (28 on Animus to 40 on Weathered Rosenbogen). Crit and Det have the same weight (one is 0.315 and the other 0.318), so the loss in 10 Crit and 17 Det from BRD's Tights to Allagan Pants is recovered from the +28 Crit from the Weathered Rosenbogen. Well, bards hate skill speed, so it can be seen as a meh upgrade.


My personal verdict is pass on the UAT, and keeping 850 soldiery at all times - until your grp is able of clearing T8 and during that week, your grp agrees to assign BOTH the UAT and Sands to you, then with your 850 stock + the week's 450 cap you can immediately get the Rosenbogen (i110). If not, Animus is just fine.

Bard boots. so i have soldiery to buy the boots. i have cleared t6 .... 5 times and havent seen the boots drop. and i have also crafted 3star Saurian Boots.

i really dont know what to do. im willing to penta meld the crafted boots if i dont get t6 drop next reset. also. not sure what to do with the extra soldiery i have might as well buy the soldiery boots since i have alot of soldiery tokens to spare :(

Yeah didnt get boots this week from t6. however i got the high allagan gloves from t7. i think im set on penta melding the crafted i90 boots.

A properly pentamelded pair of boots/gloves and headgear are the best investments for BRD, as they technically have the highest total score by stat weightage, even higher than the i110 versions. They will really last you well until you get the HA versions.

and what is properly penta melded saurian boots? What materia should be on them?

I'm on T6 but i doubt we will get it down anytime soon much less see the boots drop....

You want to add 21 crit, 4 determination and up to 9 skill speed. The skillspeed wont make or break them, but definatly helps overall.

Due to costs of savage aim 3s on my server I Just bought 2 savage aim 4s for the guaranteed slots, then squeezed in quickarm 4 in the 3rd slot, followed by savage might 3 and topped it of with a savage aim 2.

Just expect to blow up a lot on the 4th and 5th slots. The same can be achieved with 1 savage aim 4, 1 quickarm4, 2 savage aim 3s and 1 savage might 3. But if the quickarm 4s are significantly cheaper than a pile of sa3s or sm3s, it'll probably save you a ton of money only needing a tier 2 materia for that last slot.

You can't meld any more accuracy onto the Saurian boots. The 21 accuracy that is on them prior to melding is the maximum total — you can meld 21 crit onto them because there is no crit on the boots without melds, but you can't go over 21. So Hybris is correct, you'll want to meld 21 crit, 4 determination, and up to 9 skill speed. I personally melded Quickarm 3 (+6 skspd) in my last slot because I didn't want to blow loads of gold on the fifth meld slot for 3 skill speed.

HQ is already capped on accuracy. You shouldn't pentameld anything other than an HQ.

Edit: Also make sure to put the tier 3 and 4 materias on on your wish list and check the prices over a few days before you meld as well. Within 8 hours of melding my Headpiece, acc4 materia jumped 50k apiece and savage aim 4 dropped 40. Totally worth it to camp the market for a few days to get some good deals.

Yup, for my Saurian boots I go:
Skill Speed +9 (100% slot)
Critical +9 (100% slot)
Critical +6
Critical +6
Determination +4

So are the Saurian boots better then the sold boots?
I just went with the soldiery boots for now as Saurian unless you can craft yourself are expensive

havnt read through this but for my set up on bard i have everything penta melded except body, as that IS better in i100, i also out stat a lot of bards in soldiery gear in det and crit, think im on 282 det and 540 crit, but i have bard body and ears in soldery to get, and also using an i70 ring not i90, so not finished my stats yet

i used the same set of melds. screw +3SS :D.

happy with the boots so far. the best thing i've crafted/melded. its so rewarding. now i can use myth pants instead of t5 allagan pants. i have 0 accuracy issues in t8 with the right food. ^^

i dont have to worry about accuracy anymore.

Your problem will come when you have Rosenbogen + Auroral Tabard + High Allagan Pants :p

animus and high allagan pants looks like a good pair!

im not even sure Rosenbogen is necessary unless you have more high allagan gear like t7 mask and t8 ring.

Weapons are always the biggest upgrades for a DPS class, so if you get to upgrade, go ahead.

Rosenbogen alone doesn't cause you problem, but when used together with Auroral Tabard it might cause accuracy issues. Solvable if you have some of the soldier accessories.

Headgear should not be an issue since the Allagan Visor of Aiming gives 21 acc. High Allagan version is just 4 more acc.

T8 ring will be a necessity to use High Allagan Pants if you are already using Rosenbogen + Auroral Tabard.

You can check out my lodestone to see how it is like when you are being squeezed to the edge on accuracy - I'm using Rosenbogen + Auroral Tabard and 4 soldier accessories and I'm just at 507 acc without food. If I get the HA pants I will have a 34acc drop which I will need to at least switch out my Hero's Ring to the Allagan Ring (+16 acc) and change food to Lava Toad Legs to maintain T9 accuracy. :(

What do people think of Novus stats for Artemis Bow. Acc and Crit? Or Crit and Det, using food to reach Acc cap?

Really interested in this as well. Though I was considering pushing Det as the higher valuer and let Crit become the second one, with less points increase. Any thoughts?

Shouldn't it be 31-22? I think there's dimishing value for the second stat chosen.

Is there a source that says you can't use all 75 points if you pick Determination? I think it's just a cap on that stat (31 points), so you still have 44 to play with. Yes, that means Novus weapons can be better than Soldier weapons, but it would be much simpler to understand than trying to figure out how many points you have left if you have X number of Det.

There is another thread disscussing Novus in general and there is a link to a picture of someone's Novus bow with a confirmed 41crit and 31det.

Now, my question is.... CRIT+ ACC or CRIT + DET?? Is there a clear winner?

There is no diminishing value for stats. Novus can indeed have 31 determination and 44 critical hit rate.

Haha yeap that was based on the old assumption that same stat costs applies to Novus, which is now proven not :)

515 is frontal accuracy if you'd bother - which only applies when you are tanking the blue golem and during phase 4 when you are stacking for lunar dynamo + elemental attacks you might be attacking from the front.

But if you aren't too bothered about 1 or 2 possible misses then 491 is the flank accuracy for T9.

44 crit and 31 det is a clear choice. Don't bother with Accuracy because you should be able to fix accuracy in other ways and eventually High Allagan Bow is an accuracy bow. And 44crit31det is the only way to make it better than Rosenbogen.. if you make a Novus that is lesser than the Rosenbogen, might as well don't bother :p

The i90 crafted head/hands/legs, when properly melded, are better than the i100 soldiery and also helps to alleviate some of the potential accuracy issues at a later turn. Of course they are going to be expensive - but they could last you until you get the i110 HA drop.
