I kinda feel this, but MCH can still pull respectable numbers.

As a MCH main myself I find myself doing dps in the 13k range (i463 with augmented deepshadow wep) and if I get a dancer to pocket me I can do dps in the 14k+ range, but it sucks that if I was a blm I could probably push damage in the 16-17k range.

That being said, try to stick with it unless you're like me and also find blm fun. At the moment buffs to make mch 3rd in rdps are long overdue, and I wouldn't be surprised if they buffed drill and air anchor to 1000 potency.

It's also worth noting that Machinist still sees a lot of usage according to the number of parses it actually has. Given that we are now in a post-prog world, there's no job anyone should avoid bringing just because it isn't as strong. People need to keep advocating for buffs, sure, but don't stop playing something you actually enjoy because it's not optimal or meta.

It was 8 deaths, forgot 2 were at the end. Still not sure how the rdm had none. Weird, kinda assumed he did. Either way, the caster raise has helped out a lot.

How am I rewriting history when I specifically stated "by Alphascape"? You're assuming an argument I never made. Regardless, my point was the two jobs were actually close near the end of Stormblood and now the gap is worse than it's ever been.

That's debatable. Frankly, it doesn't matter if Black Mage, Dragoon and Monk are brought down or the remaining five are brought up. The end result is the same; all jobs should be far closer in damage to one another. How they achieve that doesn't matter.

I edited my post when I realized I mixed up Alphascape and Deltascape. Regardless, grossly oversimplifying it as "just buff all the weak jobs and/or nerf all the strong jobs" is just silly. Samurai, Black Mage, and Machinist should be referenced as the control jobs as they offer literally nothing besides the damage they deal, and should be fighting each other for the top of the DPS chart. In descending order should come jobs offering progressively more utility and ease of play while maintaining a fairly (and shallow) linear decline in overall DPS contribution. SMN's potencies are probably fine, I think addressing issues such as Bahamut/Phoenix moving for some inexplicable reason and being unable to weave pet actions would bring it closer to BLM on a fight-situational basis. For RDM removing the decay on Embolden would probably bring it up a fairly sizable amount since it naturally lines up every other trick attack. Samurai is probably going to have their day in the sun when they get the Shoha rework to actually put it in rotation. MCH just needs some raw potency increases on pretty much everything but drill and air anchor, because they SHOULD be fighting with BLM and SAM for top DPS.

And so on and so forth.

You have your RDM switching to BLM. Claiming now "meta isn't everything" doesn't pass the laugh test.

RDM has been dropped like a hot rock post-prog since Deltascape (and the subsequent fix to its exploit, mind you), nobody's claiming that this hasn't been a consistent problem. "Meta isn't everything", in that they got the clear with a non-meta composition, which you would have realized if you weren't too fixated on having your 'gotcha' moment.

If the expectation is that you can't play the job you want after prog because you're supposed to swap to the "meta approved" caster then guess what? That means the meta matters, a TON, way more than it should. Just because it has gone on since before now doesn't make it okay.
