Basically, you're not supposed to have ANY 3'rd party program. Their ability to police it, however, relies upon the user admitting guilt, be it in game, or in these forums. So, it's more like you can use parsers, you just can't imply that you do in chat or forums.

I do remember Yoshi stating that even though the use of add-ons would be permitted at some point, it would have to be addons from SE and that dps meters/parsers would not be allowed at all. No quote on that, but if someone can find it, that would be awesome.

Addons will be developed by outside sources away from SE, SE will have to approve it, but as something is developed by another person that goes through this method, any backlash doesnt fall onto SE, why do people think addons are just being developed by SE, they are developing the API for it, not the actual addons.

And regarding not mentioning it on forums, there was a huge thread a while back, and numbers were discussed, hell even the BLM buff that we saw was given as feedback from the playerbase reporting that they were falling behind other jobs in 2nd coil, no one was reported there at all, only those against parsers actually got warnings due to not being civil.

Also with that link you posted, ive seen it, and yoshi doesnt say you will get a ban from parsers, hacking tools yes, he clarified that for certain as you can hear, also, something of note, look at the description of that video, look whats on the link and thats a official interview.

To paraphrase "Our official answer to anyone using any 3'rd party program is no, don't do that, but we understand the pc gaming culture is going to do what it wants to feel competitive, so if you use a parser, be sneaky about it and don't let it be known" So did he say "you will get banned if you use a parser"? no. He did say that it was still against the rules, so do with that information as you may. And don't get me wrong, I'm all for parser's/meters and think the ideology behind why they're not used is encouragement to people to continue being bad instead of making themselves better players. But just wanted to point it out that parsesr are, in fact, against the rules.

As far as SE not developing, but approving addons, aren't we just arguing over semantics? Approval=control, whether they develop it or not.

And as far as the BLM thread, how do you know that no one was reported? I mean, is there a newsletter that I don't know about? You guys have a union meeting Tuesday nights after raid? Bad jokes, obviously, but unless an official source stated there were no actions taken against those admitting the use of 3'rd party tools, I'd like to be on the side of caution, personally.

A limitation from Sony, is still limiting what they can do because of the ps4, so whether it is the system itself, or the company that makes the system, there are certain things they can't do, or have to extremely delay because of not only the ps3, but also the ps4.

They have an exportable combat log built into the game.
You don't need a third party program to parse, just a pen/paper a calculator and basic understanding of math, or autism.

Hell most of the third party programs will be wrong anyway. Building a theoretical model and comparing it to combat log outcomes approach is more accurate, and certainly does not require 3rd party programs. (Well Excel would help lol)

God forbid they include more complicated classes for people to CHOOSE to play. It's just terrible these classes make a tank hold a mob still.

C'mon now, this is nonsense.

When played properly MNK and DRG are absolutely devastating dps. They do alot more dps then a bard who 'should' be singing songs strategically; doing more then "pressing 4 buttons".

Not really no. The only thing limiting them is their decision decisions. They've worked around so many supposed limitations during XI's time and the only thing they can't do is add tons of flowing capes, which affects gameplay not 1 bit.

The only thing they can't do because of "console limitations" aren't things that will hinder the game from running. It will stay "competitive" because other MMO developers aren't even raising the bar, they're too busy keeping it so low you'll trip over it.

It's usually the PC players belitting the console players, so it's pretty easy to see why that became a problem.
