Commenting my support as someone who won't play them since those opposed to them want to keep bringing up "players who don't care" while screeching about how we need to keep these locks in place. Indifference doesn't mean support for none. I want people to have more options, even if I won't use them.
Yeah but then they might get the wrong impression that we stopped caring, that we tired out, that they won this war of attrition.
Besides, do you really want this thread off the main page? Do you know how many new threads would rise in its stead? Let it be, man, it's by far the lesser evil
Don't comment there and they will die quite soon. It's easy. But ye, some people who just want to fight for the sake of fights will write there something. Like yesterday when somebody bumped few shitty threads which were on 4th and 5th page already and were quiet for few days. Because we can't prohibit them to do it.
I feel that this is pretty darn close to what a lot of folks want. Though I'd suggest things like the adding of various kinds of facial hair and maybe even optional chest tuft of hair/fur? Heh. As for the outfit? It might make certain folks uncomfy but I mean if they're going to sexualize the Veira anyways, let's make it fair and sexualize BOTH genders! lol
OMG, the lower end is almost exactly my height and the upper end is close to my tallest little brother's height, which is considered tall where I'm from. That must mean that everyone's massive. I went around thinking that they were like, four-foot something but nope! D:
The air really must be oxygen rich with all the massive animals (and people) running around.
I don't want to prohibit anyone from posting their opinions just trying to make people see that circular arguments are pointless and making a big fuss like this before the content even comes out or anything even remotely official on the topic is announced is just childish.
In Europe overall, the average height of a male is 177cm, in Japan the average height of a man is 171, so Miqo bros are not actually not short funny enough.
To compare this the average height of a female in Europe is around 168cm, while the average for a Japanese female is 158cm.
In my country (Denmark) the average height for a Miqo man is short, but that's because my country's average height for men is 180 so my personal perception of "short" starts under 170cm. (5'5")
For a Japanese player the Miqo'te males fall in the average height category and don't come out short if they ran down a street in Tokyo.
So if we have Viera males start at 165cm (5'4") and end at 185cm (6'0") it would enable those who wanna be a tall beanstalk to tower over the Miqo bros, and the ones that want to be cute and small to come out like this.

So if you're a short dude in real life, you can either play options way taller than you or a lalafell, which I find kinda funny.
Heavens, I'm 163 and average/tall for a latino. It's not miqo'tes that are short, everybody else is too <kupo>ing tall...
Eh... I don't know about all this cm crap, (ya wierdos, j/k) but I'm 6 foot even and made my male character 5'10" cause I kinda wish I was shorter in RL... That and I always like the Bruce Lee / Jet Lee persona of a "little guy that kick your butt." I also tend to make all my female charcters around 5'5" which is why I've never played a Elezen or a Roegadyn. Hrothgar are tempting tho... so are Viera. need to see their emotes tho as I'm currently really happy with 80-90% of the Male Miqote poses/emotes.
I play the shortest option for a highlander female, which is really fun - cause she falls into the same height as an average midlander. So I get to have the pretty highlander faces and strong legs but still be a little lady that can kick ass.
But I'd love to be Viera male so I can roleplay as this:

Happy 250, everyone!
Passing through to drop my support, you have the concept art square, stop holding out!
Please please please stop. First we have to deal with gender locked clothes! And now we have gender locked RACES!?
Please recognise players fought for years just to unlock the bunny ears from the golden saucer from being female only! Why would you think after all that having a female only race would make sense. The players already showed you they want male bunnies.
Just let players play soft men, and hard women if they want. Don't limit us to the same big men/petite woman archetypes, especially if you're already announcing this will be the last races to come to 14.
You can already create/play as "soft men" and "hard women" though, if it's that important to players. Let's not act like the so-called cute/waifu type is the only option available.
More options are always good, and just like people are happy to have male Hroths and female Viera to increase their repertoire, people would like to have female Hroths and male Viera for the same reason :)
Like, when I made one of my alts, it came down to fem Miqo'te and fem Au Ra. And the two were noticably different in ways that mattered to me in how I built the character. Races are more than just the visual archtype
I mean, to some people it is, and that's fine. People have different priorities and reasons why they play the game.
Then you have the lost costs of Fantasia. Lost costs of glamours that would've been bought for those new races. People not ubsubbing but refusing to give money to the Mogshop until this is changed...Quote:
I guarantee that the number of people who would actually unsub over this would be insignificant to their bottom line.
Saying the only money SE stands to lose over this is from unsubbing, and that those numbers to begin with would be small, are strawman arguments. There's a lot of money riding on this and no one has the statistics regarding subs and other purchases outside of SE.
Ok I'm starting to get really annoyed at the devs, it seems like they are trying to ignore this subject in hopes that it will die down instead of giving an official respone. Guys we can't let this die down until they confirm how and when we will get the other genders. I really hope they give us an official response soon, like YoshiP said in an interview
Better not to wait for a response earlier than benchmark release when recent options will be avaliable for checking. Or even until actual 5.0 release.
Also, analysing is not that fast as it we can look at this, they should check not only forums, but other medias too. So it's better to stay calm and polite.
Yea, the same old posts that are being brought up by the same people.
Just like the same people that love to bring up "ERP", "the lore!", people that try to redefine "genderlock" and also "my immersion!" to counter people.
Im getting tired of them as much.
I mean there are both sides of extremists, and I do not support any of them.
Also, not to be rude or anything, but Im sure they got their hands full already with the upcoming expansion. And devs also have a real life, give them more time. Beside, stressing people can also turn the opposite way, meaning no to opposite genders.
When is the benchmark supposed to be released? I think I remember the devs giving feedback earlier, but not all work schedules are equal, there might be something else involved with the decision.
They lose... pure profit. And from what we hear, the Mog Shop is the one source of revenue that comes back into the game while the sub money gets leeched by SE to fund other things. So XIV itself loses a lot if people don't buy from the Mog Shop. Especially since Mog shop items are:
1. one time investment that keeps netting them revenue. Mounts, Bardings, glamour, they make them once and just keep cashing in on it
2. Consumable. Dyes, Fantasia. They have long since stopped investing in the items and just enjoy the money it makes.
That's a lot of $$$ they'll be losing out from people who are upset over it, yes, even if those people are still subbed. But their sub money probably won't go back into XIV to begin with.
this thread is more for the support to add male viera (and obviously female hrothgar) most of us know that it takes a lot of work and time
very minimal demands in this thread
people who come into this thread with just idea of "such entitlement, whiners" etc etc really have the wrong idea the entire purpose of this thread
I don't support either side myself. If they decide to release them then great, if they don't, also great. But threads like this one are pointless. The devs haven't said anything about never releasing the other genders, just that they decided to release what they could with what time they had. Making a huge fuss over it like we're NEVER going to get them before we even get the first release is petty.
I would also like to state that there is a huge distinction in the severity of argument between bringing up lore, ERPing, etc over calling a company sexist and homophibic. The latter could actually do harm to the company's image if enough people believed it while the former is just annoying.
At this point I'm desperate enough to pay for the male Viera as a pre order purchase (aka. a pack) on the mogstation if that would help the monetary part of development. (heck they could do the same for instanced housing aka. elder scrolls just cheaper)
Because I'm more than certain FFXIV's sub money is going towards the 7 remake and other projects, or funding marketing for kh3 but that's pure speculation. Yoshi needs more money and a bigger team, and SE needs to start prioritizing FFXiV more if they are to catch the WoW players that will be looking for a new mmo to play.
Then that's entirely SE's fault for not allocating the money properly. If they were using all the sub money to work on the game then there would be little to no fluctuation in profits lost for people unsubbing for this since you also have to factor in new players coming in.
