ERP has been a thing in ever MMO I've played since EverQuest in 1999, a game with no mods. ESO also has several ERP guilds with no visual mods. Mods are simply a product for a scene that would be there either way.
I agree that I don't think the game itself has spent tons of resources devoted to that crowd. I think I just disagreed with the comment that modders created the scene itself. I think their proliferation is in response to an interest and demand for them. Maybe it's cylical though, and people interested in ERP would come here over other options given the mods available, so maybe we have a higher congregation of ERPers here than other games. (That said, there are all kinds of adult products were ERP is the only point of them, so I'm not sure why MMOs would be a top choice other than them looking innocent on a computer.)
I guess at the end of the day, the distinction isn't that important compared to the overall point.
The thing is the RP tag does not mean ERP... of course there is some people that play solely for whatever erotic reasons....
However that is not a reason to actually brand the RP societies like that, that is weak and not even having shown any insight at all, however ask questions why you play an MMORPG as well, if just for the content you would be just as happy for playing any of the new AAA games or Indie games.
RP'ers is also static groups for Savage and Ultimates, no matter how you look at it they have to interact with each other to beat the content using RPG features, and not skill based features other than not standing in stupid and not underperming in damage.
Phhhht so I guess this game's entire life then. Or at least since 2.0. Cause you have to be naive if you think adult stuff wasn't happening behind closed doors back then. Now has it grown since then sure. Part of the reason why some venues add the 18+ is because they're meant to be seen as bars.
I would argue it's the other way around, at least insofar as the source of the plague goes. People were doing that stuff long before anyone figured out how to mod the game. The fact so many of the graphical mods you see floating around on the internet lean so heavily to that side is merely an uncommonly visible symptom of the underlying population of degenerates.
Oh, well, it looks like someone beat me to saying it. Didn't see this until after making the post.
I don't mind it, if anything, the venues are housing that's being used instead of sitting empty and rotting. Then you have the social aspect of them that caters to certain gamers that like that kinda stuff, why ruin their fun? Just stay away from them if that's not your forte and move on. As said many times, ERP has existed for well over two decades in MMO's, simply ignore them and move on.
Imagine advising to turn off shout chat, because RP club advertisers spam their 3 full messages macro in every town. Yeah, clearly it is me who is at fault and needs to adjust to it, by restricting my chatmode to never ever read shout messages again. :clown:
I dislike it because some stuff that gets spammed is either pretty lewd/kinky or immorale/sadistic. And this game is for 13+ year olds and that gets totally ignored. This game deserves 18+ because of its community. I would rather let a kid play doom than ff14.
Additionally, the adultstuff and mod scene taints classic/normal RP. And the game doesnt seem to cater towards normal RP either. A lot of missed out opportunities in guild development and open world.
Do I care that it exists and people like it and wanna keep doing it? No, who cares.
Just dont be so intrusive and competetive, do it more private.
But a few people who manage these events have their own goals in mind, and they will not care if SE doesnt stop them. Also wouldn't suprise me if some see this more as a business opportunity.
Bro tell me you are joking, this post cant be serious. In ERP half the time you are probably dealing with a guy behind the screen with a skimpy miqote/viera character so dont come here to tell this is healthy.
I dont mind about people that practice ERP in private but please lets dont spread false information ty.
This pretty much.
/thread
You are all cowards if you don't ERP and savage raid at the same time
You dont know ? A man behind a screen playing a skimpy miqote is very unheathy
/s
yall will just find the weirdest excuses and reasons to try and put the blame on the erp/modding/plugins community, just live your own life, and let people have fun in the game the way they want it, I'm not sure who some of you people think you are, some sort of figure of purity just because you dont have a skimpy mod or you dont have fun in the game that way, it's actually very weird but you enjoy your fake moral superiority if you want
Amazing how much attention such things are getting lately. I’ve had my fill of them when Instarted FF14. I’m older now and realize such avenues have their own drama and issues.
I moved on now. I’m older, realizing I don’t need such things, so I have shout and yell in another tab I hide away.
It took months for me to realize venues did shout ads. I thought those were just FC recruitment ads because I read neither.
Fine, I'll say it. I wouldn't want to be associated with a video game whose main audience is sexual deviants. Luckily, FFXIV isn't there yet, but it's definitely on the rise.
ESRB is "irrelevant", but then you essentially state the terms of the game essentially equate to the same, so unless you were shoehorning in some commentary about another country's rating system, what was your point?
No one's trying to argue the ESRB is a world-wide system, but other people have been trying to use it to argue that it has anything to do with what the players get up to instead of just the actual game content itself.
The terms even state that anyone under the age of 18 has to have their parent or legal guardian agree to the TOS on their behalf in order to even play. If little Timmy is twerking his digital self with a bunch of questionable people online, I'd say throw the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) in jail.
Otherwise, by this same logic, every spicy comment made anywhere on the internet should lead to IRL extradition to every country that has a law against the content of the comment.
If that's too much of a leap, I dare say I was only following your lead...
What do I think, I just ignore it and move on blacklist them if you have to but just ignore them and play on.
For the love of all that's holy SE please do something to stop this spam. Give me unlimited blacklist....chat filters....or start letting me report them since they have a whole spot in the PF where they can and do advertise. Almost all conversation in my Limsa is dead because anytime people start talking they're drowned out by venue spam
As a long time player I find myself adding every one of those Nightclub/venue/DJ Nameherewithtwitterlink/kind of advertisements to my ever-growing Blacklist™
So I will never see them again.
I've also had to turn off /Shout because it is non-stop advertising, almost as bad as Final Fantasy XI (Asura World).
It's telling, and obvious, with SO many of these ads offering large sums of Gil to get people to take notice, they aren't too popular, they must bribe for the attention and attendance.
just ignore it lmao, i hang out at my hosue or fcs and dont go to rp hubs.
its really simple as that
I am ignoring it but at the same time i am a bit curriouse about it. I mean why are they adverting it so aggressiv and many different ones. Why do they do this, this is just RP or not? Do they gaine somehow gill or something from it, else one of those "events" would be enough wouldn't it? And why spam it sooft much. Why are there so many i just dont understand the concept.
Many venues make gil through selling consumables and other items via RP trades.
DJs have the potential to make real money from their streams that venue attendees watch to hear the music.
It really would help if SE added a Venue section to PF not to mention improve the PF UI in general. Let us filter results by multiple sub categories instead of having to check each individually. For the Venue section, create a location section with drop down selection for world/housing district/ward/plot. If someone tries to make a new listing for a house that's already listed, reject it for "Venue already listed".
