Paladin buff it is - underwhelming but still pleasant to hear.

... this is a little misleading. Does it mean we got both a damage reduction recalculation AND increased block rate on top of it, or did we just get the block rate increase to help our overall damage reduction.Quote:

This is why I said, "POTENTIAL" because well a WAR geared to DD out parses the other DDs, I think I mentioned that part tho, if a PLD were a functional tank and a WAR MNK and DRG went nuts, the WAR would have numbers that more than rivaled the other 2. Again though because no one gears WAR for DDing and none of the truly punishing combos that WAR can perform get utilized yeah they're DPS is gimped.
Do the math run the numbers parse it out, when a WAR is geared for DDing and DDing they win. When they tank they win. No one can argue those points, it's like saying 1+1 == 14.
On the update though, hey maybe, depending on how large of a change it is PLD might be able to crawl up out of the hole it's been in. I'm hoping that blocked dmg is now 50%+ with activiation being substantially increased, I'd like to get PLD finished so's I can tank Garuda a time or 5 this weekend. ... And not be garbage while doing it ^^
Your point is very true... but one minor correction, people do gear WAR for DPS and use all of its combos... I do on Myrmidon Princess and you're right... it OWNS
Sometimes I even gear it for DPS while main tanking Morbol (Where hate is a much bigger issue than the need for defense or HP), although in that case I don't get to use all of it's awesome combos
In fact... From what I've found... WAR is the EASIEST class to get 350 STR and 310 VIT on (VIT being the secondary damage stat)... with room to spare for ACC and ATK accessories
The only thing limiting a DPS warrior is enmity reduction abilities.. which I guess is good... or else WAR would be way too OP...
If you are going DPS on WAR, just don't forget your Nerve Drops

The direction is to "try as much as possible to not make downgrade changes" and we have been looking/making adjustments but for Warrior the hate is optimal, at same time can deal high damage and has high defense, it became too strong so parts of it will be down graded. For this one I am really sorry.
性能が高すぎる「スチールサイクロン」の性能調整が行われます。
また「バーサク」の効果上昇と「ワールウィンド」の攻撃力を強化し、
引き換えに「コルーション」の効果が調整されます。
"Steel Cyclone" will get adjustments since it is current too efficient.
Also we will increase effect of Berserk and increase the attack in Whirlwind
and adjust Collusion's effect.
■ナイト&剣術士■
Paladin and Gladiator
まずダメージの底上げを行うため
「ゴアブレード」「ライオットソード」「レイジオブハルオーネ」は、強化される予定です。
また、剣術士からナイトへジョブチェンジした際の最大HP減少特徴を無くし、
結果的に最大HPが増える調整がなされ、加えて、盾ガードの強化を行う予定です。
これ以外にも調整の過程で必要と判断されれば、ステータス/敵視関連にも、
調整が入る可能性があります。
To increase the damage we are planning to upgrade "Goring Blade" "Riot Blade" "Rage of Halone". Also when changing from gladiator to Paladin to make where you wont lose the maximum HP and instead increase the maximum HP, at same time increase the shield guard. Aside from this if we decide more adjustments are required we may adjust the status/enmity related stats also.

Looks like they went the war nerf, buff pld route.
WAR's tanky DPS is getting nerfed and pure DPS is getting buffed. I think I would call WAR getting balanced rather than nerfed :p

I think it was more of a WAR out DDs PLD by such a huge amnt that pld is useless.
Ok maybe it doesn't out parse, it's not worth arguing about since my point was:
It's OP when tanking. The math behind it all screams that a DD build WAR should out DD MNK and DRG, but again, until my WAR is done I won't dive into what really happens, all I have to go on is other ppls numbers and/or the "best guess" formulas for figuring out dmg.
This I'd call a good thing, give pld the boost it needs to match a war tanking but let war choose to DD when they aren't needed to tank. Versatility is good, now to get surges fixed, and then dLvl.
patch 1.23 war buff pld nerf? Or maybe they will finally find a balance /crossfingers ;o
From Rein's translation, I would say everything that is happening is fair.
Sure, WAR is losing some of it's tanking efficiency. But it's being adjusted so it's even better at DD.
PLD is getting huge changes like increased max HP, improvements to it's weaponskills and possible stat changes.
I think both sides win in this case.
I hope the combo action on "Riot Blade" gets changed to the front or something, cause its pretty useless since we can't hit mobs in the back. You can try to run though the mob but that can get other people hit and not usually worth doing.
LOLs, I think its great how everyone think they have the answers to the "problem" meanwhile the "problem" is already fixed.... I could put up yet another wall of text with parses and videos and images to prove everything I post, but 99% of the people posting here have not truly tried tanking to its full potential, BOTH jobs. soo 50% of the posts are pure idiocracy from refuseing to learn or know anything about what they are saying and the other 50% is from pure biast , or simply not wanting to see raw facts as they are. Fact is , both have good qualities as tanks, speed runs make WAR chosen more often , not becuase "it dose everything better" but because its easier to use. spam attack and instant buffs and your golden, PLD take some actuall skill to learn to play and do it well, but if done well enough offers all the same things war dose but with a different delivery. Both viable tanks just diffrent in tank style. Either way it dosent matter, SE has fixed anything there was wrong with tanking already , most of you are just to love drunk with war or unexperianced to see it.
A good example of a great use of WAR as main dps is moogle. The LS did a run 5 WAR 2 healer and 1 bard, easiest we have ever done moogle. HOWEVER I was the main tank , kiting Moogle king, and I know for a FACT , if I had been on my PLD I would not have needed ANY WHM support at all, but because the party itself needs both healers at times you still cant afford to lose the second whm soo the only way to fit in the PLD and lose about half the DPS from the one WAR (myself) in order to make the last half, the hardest half, much easier, is to squeeze more DPS out of the WAR, add that to the DEF down combo from PLD and Its a realy fast moogle fight. Reason why we went with WAR as main dps should be obvious. Although it dose not do as high as BRD or BLM , it has no issues with MP obviiously, very little issues with TP and positioning for combos and most importantly it has much higher survivability then any of the other DPS jobs.
MAX HP INCREASE /breakdance
Also, I'm interested to see how the weaponskills will be adjusted.
Dragoon changes are a nice touch.
It's unfortunate none of this made it in time for Garuda.

Yay there leaving Monk alone
they prolly woulda left WAR alone if people could learn to NOT bitch about PLD, I was happy whith where everthing was, PLD was great for saftey runs and WAR was great for crowd controll / speed runs. How this adjustment will effect the status quoe is yet to be seen but lets hope all those love drunk WARs out there kept their REAL tanking gear, you know the stuff with DEF/VIT/and HP....
Pretty much if a damage dealer on Ifrit wants to pull hate off the PLD they will its not that hard. They can not go all out and very much have to hold back with a PLD. With a War tanking Ifrit it is much harder for them to pull hate and less of an issue overall.
Like the Lancer/Dragoon appitizer. Always been a fan of Crit-sauce and kinda glad my favorite class will be lathered in some of it.

I have no problem with that, may be a bit harder tho if your comming in tipical war tank gear, they are increasing the amount of enmity to materia by almost 3 fold , and I only run with +8 enmity on the belt, and all my blm/thms go all out, soo long as they pop freeze when its ready and chamelion, we down ifrit in roughly 7-8 mins everytime. with new buffs to enmity materia, all I gota do is double stack on a belt and Im golden, keeping in mind they increased -enmity materia stats too. this will increase the hate gap significantly.
I just realized he says 1.22b... not 1.22a... abit disappointing imo. Would like to play my PLD :( But I guess it is nice to know that its coming.
