Popping in to clarify that the Beastman Strongholds will indeed be open world areas and not instanced.
I also wanted to show you guys the bigger images of Zahar'ak. Since the forum software kinda shrunk and further compressed the images, I added direct links under the images of even bigger and higher res shots. Enjoy! :D

they kind of seem...small i guess. When i thought of these of course i thought of the FFXI beastmen areas, they were pretty big, lots of detail, had quests/NMs/Missions going with them. These feel like what they look like, some chunk of thanlan closed off by some walls and a few things inside to spruce them up.
I really hope when the map redesign comes they get more elaborate separate zones.
I know it ^^
Big ups Rukkirii! Thanks for confirming this for all the whiners.
this are really good news, i hope the areas are quite big like fort ghelsba in ffxi
Could we get any word on if this will be in the style of campaign battles or not? :) Thanks
someone mentioned this a few pages ago but won't everyone in the server be there and we can all kill each others mobs so like every mob will be dead all day and kinda meh? no clue to the size but i too was picturing something huge like in ffxi, davoi was huge, even the campaign battle that looked like this one was huge zone too. lets hope it's not a tiny spot where we are all inch by inch standing next to each other lmao. either way i'm still excited to see. anything new at this point is something to do.
wow pics are awesome mobs look awesome game looks awesome.
putting actaul content in some of those dead areas is a win plus a win IMO. Keep filling up this dead world with content SE im loving every bit of it!!!!
Yes, I also mentioned that the way the regional servers work. Mobs when they pop have a grace period after they pop when they can be truly claimed. Only a few seconds. However, in congested areas this will become a problem with RMT (Depending on where they are located and how close to the servers they are) vs NA, vs EU, and especially vs JP. Claiming will be a bitch for NA or EU players when paired with JP groups.
If the system uses a force pop on the NMs, that will be just fine though. Or perhaps in the Ul'dah stronghold's case the end all goal for that could be a fight against Ifrit. Which I strongly hope will be instanced. There are ways that these strongholds can work and still be open, but they need to be laid out a certain way in order to have equal and fair competition.
I hope those wall mounted dwellings are actually incorporated into playable space.
I have a feeling this Fort will have a cave system in it.
Perhaps this has been answered elsewhere but have these strongholds been confirmed to be rank 50 content? I only ask because SE seems to have been developing content for a large number of rank ranges and not just the top end.
That is really not the way regional servers work, I guess you never played FFXI. NA linkshells constantly got pulls over JP groups, and botting while a serious problem does not make legitimate pulling impossible it simply removes human error and in the case of packet sniffing software the guesswork, which is why it was cheating. I never once used a bot in XI and I got pulls over bots, even Japanese bots (even Megabot Defender of the Galaxy) constantly. We are talking about a completely different pop system too, one which had well defined windows and dozens of players all trying to get the pull for hours at a time. This game has randomized pops within small windows, it is incomparable in terms of how much of an inconvenience it would be for you not to get the pull.
Still, you are greatly over exaggerating the "advantage" the JP players have due to server location.
I would just like to point out that the Claiming system in LOTRO is exactly what they intend to implement into this game where in the Claimer reaps all rewards but anyone can kill the mob. So far, in that game, it has been a non-issue.
It is safe to say, outside of the dual-boxers and the people who got begged into PLing by their friends this will almost never rise as an issue.
As to the point of mass invasion of the area, that will likely work in the favor of all involved because if people are helping others kill, kills will be fast, xp will be plentiful, and the NM will be teamed. If you don't want help in your fights and you like the challenge, just give it a week.
I hope there are some patrols, too. Beastmens who patroling specific paths (alone or in a group of 3)
And don't forget, there are many beastmens. Attack the false and all the other bestmens are coming to help the comrade with the new link feature ^^
haha not instanced, hilarious, due to new claiming system these will not be challenging at all because even if you wanted to duo/trio them you wont be able to for some time as people will just pound through them in masses of like 100 lol for first month then it will be like 10-20 people pounding through them, or maybe more since theres nothing else to do anyway.
like the idea but its much better to save this stuff until you can pop out like 20 strongholds so people spread out.
I highly doubt this. Just like pretty much all other content that's new, a bunch of peeps with no life will mob these things hard for about a week, and then get bored and go back to bitching about how this game sucks. Then the rest of us will, just as right now, go about enjoying the crap out of it.
The idea that 100 people are going to get together and mob the thing on a regular basis is not credible. It's hard enough to get a party of 8 together in this game consistently, let alone one's whole LS...
We had no advantage over western players unless you get technical and realize that in 2001-2003 people still mainly used Dial-up out west due to broadband being highly expensive, however XI was designed (and still is) for dial-up connections, so barely 0.1ms better latency isn't enough to give an advantage over someone located out of Japan, unless your country in general is known to have issues connecting with Japan.
Im not saying 100 will get together, what im saying is
1 Stronghold in 1 area
No claim system
vs
1000 people online (or however many there are) aka entire server
So its not even about getting people together, the entire server is going to bash them, and even when everyone begins to stop, as there is still nothing else to do in game they will be at least 10-20 people still bashing these. So wonder if they've been "optimized" for that, like they said they balanced the crap out of dungeons, look how that turned out lol.
Hopefully they will post more in the next coming days but unless they pop out 20 from no where and just say have 2, people will just go to the "best" one. Like r45 dung.
Plus it was already reported by Yoshi himself that this 'server lag' isn't because of the servers, it's a problem with the animation packages.
They are working on fixing this post-1.19.
Yoshi also said that.
they said there was going to be 3 dungeons and even posted a screen shot of a dungeon that did not even arrive lol so it was delayed until 1.19 or 1.20 or w/e they decide to add more.
I dont care much for content coming in a patch in the next decade, only the next patch.
And 3 is still too low...
Really you have a source for that? No? I didn't think so, because like all your posts you pulled it directly out of your own body.
There was always going to be just 2 confirmed instanced raids in 1.18, we knew this months before the patch hits (just like we have known about the content being released in 1.19 since pre-July) and as it got close to the patch they released video/pictures of one. They have outlines of what is in 1.19, their recent update on beastman strongholds SAYS that it is only one of them, this thread states many times that there are three. [Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.] who rather than reading anything so you might be halfway informed about the topic being discussed jumps at the opportunity to give us your opinion regardless.
And the thread started off so well too...
There's always one.
Your being ridiculous. The rate and size of the content they are putting out is well above what any other company can do.
These are not even dungeons. They are beast-man settlements. Areas full of beast-man that you can fight in mass. There may be a high level Mob inside at release but these are just the kind of fundamental structures they need to add to the game so they can build content.
This is more like environment than dungeon content.
Wow you getting really angry hahah. If you say so!
.................... really not, so many companies have done so much in a very short time. Pulling content and stuff like this in just general weekly patches lol. SE is extremely slow compared to the modern MMO.
I expect more, I always will, dont like that? Ignore me or deal with it =D
Uh.. No, there is no MMO in existence that puts out multiple dungeons, environmental overhauls, UI upgrades, and Class adjustments, multiple quests, major story components, brand new systems and Fundimental Stat reforms on a weekly basses. It is literally not possible. I work on MMO. As in, they pay me to make them. It takes well over a month just to plan and build a 60 minute raids. That doesn't include testing and adjustments.
Meanful content at the rate SE is working is unheard of in the industry.
