Right, it's a common trope in war stories, the commander who takes the time to care for the troops under their command, that they're respected as people rather than being considered cannon fodder. And to have the one who just took down Rhitahtyn and who the Garleans called with a terrified respect 'The Eikon Slayer' actually sit down and deal out soup to them personally, made them feel wanted and appreciated. And by that small token of appreciation, it made the Alliance soldiers who were waivering in their morale and even contemplating deserting, suddenly found new motivation and drive to participate in the battle.
Hells', even some Garleans have shown themselves to have this attitude, although alas it's not a common attitude in the Imperial Army, where might makes right and expendability is more desired than altruism and compassion (Rhitahtyn tells his underling soldiers to withdraw when you first show up, knowing full well they'd otherwise be needlessly throwing their lives away on your blade, and Gaius cared deeply for his officers and troops).
I think my character just internally wails when any of the NPCs insist on "coming along" to fight. Like, "Or you could stay inside and be safe instead?? I promise the outcome of this battle will be exactly the same whether or not you are there." /casually locking everyone in a sanctuary
*Sees a Lalafell being evil*
"Right, that does it, i'm going to find a dragon and feed you to it, feet first...if i can't find a dragon willing to chow down on you then i suppose a Morbol works too..."
Or
"The only good Popotoe is a Popotoe that has had a close encounter with Raubahn"
Or
"Right, if you are gonna be like that then i'm putting you in a stew..."
*Is attacked by bandits, poachers or other outlaws*
"...Are you guys stupid or something?"
Well there are meaningful side quests where we help people that cant help themselves and there are fetch quests that are only there because the NPC cant be bothered to do something.
My character is completely fine too with helping those in need that cant help themselves, but will feel a bit bitter with all those that just use her for the smallest task..also sending her around the world to simply talk to someone she could have reached with her link pearl. (Teleportation costs money too. v_v)
What my character (and meself) thinks about current Scions when speaks with them:
I would like to tease Y'Shtola as "mommy" forever and ever. She's to serious not to chuckle on it. But beware of fires
Date with Tataru Taru. She is too cute too pass. I would marry the woman like her.
Leveilliurs are thinking too much. Girl needs to find herself a man or hobby, boy needs to chill, he's not the "Ultimate guardian of peace".
Thancred - what's done is done. You can't atone yourself for eternity. Start to live your own life.
Urianger, I respect and love you deeply, but one more "thou" or "thy" and I will shove your up in your bottom and call it normal. And stop playing spyes!
Give me the option to do that in game and I will die a happy man.
"Oh. Your Coeurl is on fire? That...That's a shame, isn't it. *hides matchbox*"
Basically just entirely done with everything and everyone who can't do meanial tasks themselves.
Your basket of fruit is 2 feet away from you.
The guy you want it delivered to is 4 feet away from you.
WHY ARE MY EXPERTISE BEING WASTED UPON THIS TRIVIAL NONSENSE.
