Those who enjoy the small distraction will be happy to do it. If you don't like it don't do it, no need to take it away from others.
[Edit here: Sorry misread your comment ^^;] You are right I have a problem with the length of them.
You talk about the make it rain campaign and the first one was great. The story behind the murder was really fun if short. But the last one..you did one quest and on top of that you also did get the amount of MGP needed to buy all the prices with the quest..there was no single need to grind or do it twice because you got everything with that. How is that fun? These events are for people that log in once to do them and then log out again..
I want to have long events, that will take some time to finish and are fun to do so. And since its quite obvious that they cant give us that with the amount of events it would be better if we have less but longer ones. You would not need two events in one month if they were more than just a couple of minutes long.
I'm not speaking for you. But your post wasn't clear enough for me. As far as events go, if you don't have a problem with how many there are, but want them to be longer, there's a rift between how to get there, because if their events are pre-planned, then they obviously know what they need to put out and how much staff they need to do it, and so on. It's not going to change unless something changes from their end, not ours.
How is a grind fun? Depending on the activity, it can be, but usually it isn't. FATEs are the problem here because it's all they fall back on. But let's say they do introduce a grind... how would you make it fun? Because fun for you might not be fun for someone else, granted, FATEs aren't fun for anyone, but at the very least it was a different way of doing the FATE for the Starlight Celebration, same with the FATE we had a while back for the Hatchingtide event.
So you are saying you want less events so that the resources go into bigger events, eg. All Saint's Wake, Starlight Celebration and Moonfire? I mean, Heavensturn and Valentione's Day don't seem to be big events for most people.
Eh, most people seem unhappy with Heavensturn, from what I've noticed. They're generally okay with other events, but I find the issue is that FATEs are a recurring problem. We had a FATE for the Christmas event, we had a FATE for the summer event, we had a FATE for the new year event. It seems to me that because the content is a FATE, people become disengaged and just auto-pilot the event. I'm guessing really the only solution is replacing the FATEs with duties? I mean The Rising didn't use a duty but it was pretty nifty for this year's event with the 2D puzzle, I think the only problem was the mystery of it was ruined by sharing the answers online but oh well, it was fun when it was new.
It's not about fates, I don't even mind them when they are well made.
At launch, events included a quest chain with a (admittedly my opinion) well thought out small story to it. And you had a role in these events (Valentione day springs to mind with having to build pairs and trade chocolate, or Heavensturn with the sheep, last year's Starlight with its daily quests).
These days literally almost all events consist of 1 to max 2 quests tied together by cutscenes. You just rush through them within 5 minutes and don't really feel included in them anymore.
I know some events always seemed to receive more love from the devs than others, but lately the quality has really gone to an all time low.
I think that would ruin it for players when they actually do get to that city. It's like, oh, I've been here before. Besides, at least Ishgard is completely closed off lore-wise before, actually even after the start of HW since the WoL getting in there is an exception. And seeing as a travel to Kugane would take, if i remember this correctly, about two months, going there for some event seems odd too.
But mostly, I think getting to those cities should be something great you work towards, that feels rewarding when you finally get there, not something you already kind of get at level 15 when most people don't even know they will get there at some point, even if just for a brief amount of time.
I agree with OP....I was really disappointed it was the mochi event again....It was fun the first time.....I'd love something new.
Honestly, I’d rather them keep the event then remove it completely.
Yep. I was disappointed aswell. I dont think they should remove Heavensturn, but atleast make it something different. If their problem is not enough time to create another event, maybe turn Heavensturn into an event where the player has 2x exp, higher item drops etc, something that only requires them to either add or reduce the amount in the game.
The helmet being the only reward, instead of a emote or an outfit, doesnt help either.
