Two things RIFT got right, glamour and housing.
I'm still waiting for SE to take that no-brainer baby step and remove all the excess prism recipes form our crafting logs. Yes we can can trade the old ranked prisms in for basic ones now, but why would you still allow us the capability to craft these completely deprecated items?! Makes 0 sense
It is common. It's just that FFIXIV is way, way, way behind the curve.
No, it's not. And no, they don't.
People have mentioned these two before but Rift and WildStar have it pretty much perfect - Rift perhaps a little more so. No class restrictions on what you can glamour, 50+ wardrobe sets, all armor appearances automatically unlocked in a wardrobe UI when they land in your inventory, and completely free (only cost is unlocking additional wardrobe sets).
+1 for no glamour "cost" (prisms, gil, etc). It really isn't needed, and a very outdated idea.
Plus it would be a new gils sink and SE likes that considering the amount of gils created by RMT.
A new system could allow us to glam different things on the same stuff, for example I want a Zatanna look for my BLM and a gipsy look on my SMN but I can't cause they share the same stuff AND we can't even have 2 version of it :/
They simplified them and got rid of the stupid lvls. I'm fine with the way they are now. Much simpler and inventory friendly.
I loved the Lord of the Rings Online method. You'd be able to equip many different looks over 1 armour with just a simple click. Moving from region to region meant you could better roleplay the environments you were entering. I had it set up to for different regions.
It was a simple drag and drop to get it sorted as well.
I make 150k every few hours cas I'm costently crafting prisms to sell its how I make most of my gil so to be perfectly honest I'd rather the system stay the same it gives craters a way to make gil that is sustainable cas everyone needs prisims so there's always a demand so I say if it's not broke why fix it
