This isn't super major but honestly it really annoys me whenever I die because the healer isn't healing.

I was leveling my ninja in Sirensong sea, our tank randomly went afk so I just had to be the one eating all the autoattacks since I was the one doing the most damage, alright, no problem, I have mitigation. I burn through shade shift, feint, and bloodbath trying to reduce the damage I'm taking, eventually I survive a raidwide aoe and have about 1000 health left, alright, I guess the healer is letting me get low for a benediction or something, right?

Wrong, I was watching this white mage obliviously spamming stone, and then they use an aoe heal about 3 seconds AFTER I die and proceed to not heal the other dps or attempt to raise me.

Honestly one of my pet peeves is bad duty finder healers, I guess I should learn to live with it because I retired from healing after they homogenized all the classes, but regardless you would think a healer would have the sense to at least throw a regen on me. Heck dps rotations are ridiculously easy with 1 DOT and 1 damage skill, there isn't even much of a multitasking aspect to healing anymore outside of the harder content

Someone at SE thought it was a good idea to give me a Cure II that, when buffed by Requiescat, becomes instant cast and heals for almost half of my total HP.

I have used it to break the game and salvage a doomed pug. I feel no shame over this.

the cat keep meowing so much that we actually stop in the middle of run and end up doing "customer cat help" service, trying to wonder why his cat keep meowing.

- some scratch... nope
- maybe toys? work for a minute then start meowing again
- want to take over his pc? who knows..
- some plastic bags? still meowing

after a while the guy decide to turn off his voice chat so we can focus on the dungeon run first

hours later it turn out that the cat just want to go outside lol

Just because a cat meows at you doesn't mean it won't take ya half a year of searching for what they stop at to discover the problem. me its usually something simple (ran out of food overnight and is now trying to get me to stop hitting the snooze on my alarm at 830 am.) he wants to play (about half of these times) or he wants to lay on the other pillow on my bed. (which i enjoy. he thinks my other pillow is his.)

I was a PLD in Amaurot tonight. We were fighting the final boss. Everyone but me died at 58%.

I soloed him from 58% to victory.

You are a prime example of a player who I'd votekick in a heartbeart. You didn't have to be a dick about it.

Ran a leveling roulette a little while back, trying to get jobs to 70 before I buy the expansion and raise the level cap on me again.
Dumped into Shisui. First thought is "Dammit, this again," since roulette has dumped me here several times in a row, enough to level me so I could be getting Bardam's and actually getting some better-ish gear up til 70.

It only gets worse from there. Tank is single pulling. Now, usually I don't mind this. I'm a patient player, this doesn't actually bother me. Takes a couple minutes to clear that first low area and hit the geyser. Tank just kinda sits there for a sec, second DPS accidentally catches aggro from the next pack of mobs. "Eh, nbd, tank can pick them up pretty easy," and I join in on trying to burn them down.

Tank sits down. Not quite sure the healer even bothered much keeping us two DPS alive, we both die, with the cliche "You spank it, you tank it" attitude out of the tank.

Thankfully, I know enough to not start mouthing off as much as I'd like. I just nope the fuck out of that run. Slow-ass tank can't even be bothered, I'd just as soon find something better to do waiting out the penalty. Especially bs when I personally didn't grab any aggro, was just jumping in to get shit done and not leave the other guy eating everything. But no, still can't get up off his ass just because he wasn't the one to pull.

Sure, I get the tank attitude. But don't apply it to "accidentally crossed line of sight" cases. Someone runs off to pull extra packs, fine, let 'em eat it. But if you're gonna act that way, damn well better be a good tank to justify it.

Yes! A fellow good person! We better show those players who are "mean" to the 'newbies' how good of a community this is! We don't need those nasty WoW players bringing their toxicity into our game! Kick, for the good of the community, for the good of all!

My personal standard is pretty simple: will a full party of people with your same level of effort/attitude clear this content? If the answer is no you are the problem and it's ok to kick you off the party. Same goes for people that love to AFK during easy content because "it's doesn't matter".

Being less skilled than other players, needing more time to learn a mechanic or just make a mistake from time to time is ok but being a burden because you refuse to X or Y is not.

People complain about elitism all the time but in my personal experience what is rampant in this game is an obnoxious entitlement mentality.

My fiancee's family has this cat named George who is a constant meower. He was from a hoarder home, so he is very clingy and thinks he needs to be as loud as he can to get any attention. He also "announces" when he is going to jump on anything, even when their two cats are home alone. He's adorable and we all love him, but when he's awake people will ask if he's okay lol.

You know the stats of the vendor gear you are pointing there is worse then augmented shire?
Also Bardam is the first dungeon who drops gear better then augmented shire.

To end this from being brought up. You can't just call a player bad, you'll probably get reported and banned, what you have to do is be passive-aggressive and shift the blame in other areas. Not saying that is what I personally did, nor condone it, but if you see something like that in-game that might be what is actually meant. Just saying. Just an opinion. Some players might do that, not me, but some players might. :p

Also, for like the fifteenth time they were in regular shire, not augmented. The majority do not augment their shire gear. :rolleyes:

So, uh. I’m doing Roulettes to cap on Goetia in the event there are crafted mats needed for the new gears. And I get Byakko NM in Trial Roulette. Okay, cue a giant yawn, but whatever.

Anyways, everything is going relatively normal...until in the second half I am suddenly chosen for State of Shock (the tank mechanic where he punches you into the ground and people are supposed to stack).

Um. I’m not quite sure how this happened. Especially since both tanks were in tank stance, and the only person that had died was a BLM. The first one chose the MT as it normally should. But that one chose me. And I am still scratching my head as to why that happened. I’ve literally never seen that happen before without there being multiple deaths prior. O.o

Am I missing something? I thought NM worked just as EX did in that the MT is chosen (and the second one is done with a Voke+Shirk so the other tank is chosen, but NM only has the one State of Shock). Did they...change it to be random? Because I’ve never not seen a tank be chosen except, as I said before, when there are like a bazillion deaths (and the tanks are usually dead).

Just ran Holminster on WHM and the tank I got was special. Only used Rampart for defensive CDs for the most part, one Shelltron, two sentinels and a Hallowed Ground (at the worst possible time) the entire run. I asked why he wasn't using Arm's Length and got "I don't have it.". So myself and one of the DPS proceeded to explain that yes he does have it and that it's a very good defensive CD for trash now. His reply? "I only use it on DPS, that's all it's good for, I don't even have it on my bar".

Add to that the fact that he was single targeting group pulls instead of using his AoE combo and spamming himself with Clemency when there was absolutely no need...it reminds me of why I'm so hesitant to play anything but tank.

FC friend asked if I wanted to do an expert dungeon. I'm just about to log off for the day and so is he but we hadn't done our daily Expert roulette. Sure, I'll bite.

Turns out that it is Amaurot. Nice. I really enjoy this dungeon.

We load in and no one is new. I'm WHM, FC friend is MCH. We get a Bard and DRK. The DRK says in chat "lol wrong que" but they stick around to do the dungeon anyway.

Everything goes very well. Small pulls to start. But little did I know that I would begin to LOATHE this Dark Knight by the end of the run.
This Dark Knight would not use a defensive cooldown unless it was a dire need. The only time I saw their MP bar move during the entirety of the first section up to the final boss was when they were hitting Flood of Darkness to give themselves Dark Arts.
On the final group of mobs before the first boss, he finally uses TBN... because I have the sprite tethered to me and I get healing magic down (luckily Benediction isn't effected by that at all. Thanks YoshiP)
Also of note, the entire first boss. The only cooldown they used was Blood Price... when they were at 65% MP.
Just after the 2nd boss there is another sprite that gets tethered to the healer. Which isn't good for me because it only happens when you do the double pull after the boss.
So I'm focusing on dodging AoEs and trying to burn down the sprite and i'm watching the party window. They only throw up rampart a good 10 secs after they have double pulled and they only throw up TBN when they hit 20k HP as they sprite is STILL TETHERED TO ME. I dodge more AoEs and just as his TBN is about to drop off, I hit him with a Bene but I still had 6 secs left of healing down debuff. By the time healing down drops off, he has used TBN again. Nice two cooldowns back to back, I like your style. So I hit him with a Lily and stand in to use Holy. Well I stand in to use Holy and the tank decides to stand in 3 AoEs because his health, with TBN, goes from 114k to 55k in under 4 seconds.
At this point, I'm now trying to get to him instead of casting Holy to try and help burn the mobs down which aren't going down anytime soon. By the time I get to him, he is sitting at 15k. Lily, Cure 2, Assize, Devine Bene... his health goes to 1238 HP. He lost health in the few seconds that I was healing him. After he realises what health he is at, he starts running around, kiting mobs... INTO MORE AOEs. facepalm
I was just luckily that Devine Bene kept him alive long enough for another lily to flower and hit him with it which was basically the only thing that kept him alive long enough as the DPS managed to finish off the mobs and the first pull after the second boss was over.
But just before those mobs go down... he hits Shadow Wall. With the only 2 remaining mobs at less than 3% health each.
I was ready to scream at this stage, but I am doing this for my friend... I shall press on.

Bonus question: do you think this discouraged him from double pulling again?
Well, if you said "hell no! He's gonna dive into the next pull with bells on!", congratulations! You win the next part of the tale.

Second double pull just before the 2nd boss was pretty much alright. Nothing too outrageous to report from that pull. Maybe a misclick on Delirium (I say a misclick because he got the buff for it and then proceeded to use Edge of Darkness before not spamming anything of note)
2nd boss is pretty interesting. Especially when the DRK runs into 3 AoEs that are overlapping, uses Delirium and only moves out of one of them so he gets 2 stacks of vulnerability and THEN puts on TBN. He then proceeds to get another stack of vuln before the end of the fight with the exploding chicken face in which I honestly thought that he was going to bite it because he still didn't use anything to mitigate the damage that was coming.
It was at this stage that I checked his gear.
Everything 430 except belt, bracelet, necklace and one ring. All between 400 and 406. Even though he had a grand total of zero materia on his gear I knew that he shouldn't be anywhere near this squishy. This is about average for what a new tank would be using if they were coming into this dungeon for the first time so I shouldn't have nearly enough trouble as I have been trying to keep him alive.

We get to the final stage before the final boss and he double pulls the first two packs and pops Rampart... and nothing else for a while
He only uses TBN when his health gets below 50k. He kept moving and dodging away from enemies and INTO the AoEs. His health went from 90k to 14k with auto attacks in about 7 seconds even with me using a Lily on him and haflway through casting Cure 2. I eventually just had to use Bene on him because I wasn't going to be able to keep him up otherwise.
After I use the bene, the Bard kills the bomb tether on him and takes him to about 8% of his health. So I get him back up and by the time I spend the precious few seconds getting the Bard up, the tank FINALLY hits Shadow Wall but is still biting it, running around with his head cut off.
I then hit Temperance, Medica 2, (move out of an AoE) Swiftcast + Holy, (move out of AoE) Lily on tank, Cure 2 on tank (gets interrupted cause I have to move out of an AoE), Cure 2 on tank again. Tank dies. WHILE A CRIT CURE 2 GOES OFF ON HIM.

I keep the other two DPS alive just fine as I rez the tank and we burn through the rest of the mobs. The tank then says in chat "Guess I'll pull small".

TOO LATE FOR THAT NOW ISN'T IT? WE ARE ON THE LAST PULL BEFORE THE BOSS.
I managed to keep you alive for the entire dungeon and NOW you want to pull small? Fine. I would have been fine with you pulling small for the entire dungeon.

We wiped on the final boss and that was my fault. I know that because I moved the wrong way and got deleted by the lasers that come from the side even though I corrected myself and moved out of it, server ticks had other ideas. I still moved into it and it was my fault from the wipe.
But we burn down the boss and finally get out of there after an exhausting 30 mins.

Sorry for the novel. But tank, if you are out there... using your damage mitigation abilities when all of the mobs are at 10% HP and the end of a double pull is not the best time to use them.
I didn't say anything to you because it was late, I was tired and I didn't feel like getting kicked because I like running content with my friend. Please, please, PLEASE... use your freaking cooldowns.

Edit: It was Blood Weapon not Blood Price. I knew it restored MP and got thr name mixed up.
I've been calling it Blood Price since I levelled it up in ShB and no one in my FC has corrected me haha.

Yeah these tanks tend to show up alot whether leveling dungeouns or max dungeouns and you cant help but laugh at the ridiculousness of the entire situation cause these idiots cause more wipes then the actual good wall to wall puller that knows how to bloody use CDs and wait just a few extra seconds for the healer to get thiers back before repeating the majority are DRKs I have noticed but occassionally you see this same kind of bad with any of the others its like they never learned through baptism by fire then they blame you.

Also... Server ticks are stupid they seriously need to work on that cause there is only one thing more frustrating than bad tanks and thats dodging something with what looks like plenty of time on your end only to still take damage from it. oh and that long pause when you use fairy before it does something.

The Stat difference of Unaugmented Shire gear and NQ lvl 64 is literally non-existent and considering that you do Bardem's Mantle before gaining access to the Dawn Throne, where the level 66 gear is, it is completely expected that you can clear the dungeon even in unaugmented Shire Gear. You can try and twist the situation any way you wish but you're clearly in the wrong here and your chat doesn't paint you in anything but a negative light, as have all your response thus far.

On a related story: I got Baelsar's Wall with an Edgebreaker/WHM (me)/MCH/BLM, we all say hey and the tanks already zippin down the hallway zoooooooom, that's fine I can just sprint n catch up no biggie, he gathers all the adds up and then no CDs were had until he was at 10% HP which I Tetra'd/Fatty Solus, he's also losing threat to the BLM and the MCH. He has tank stance on he stops suddenly and goes "watch your threat", I noticed they only use their AoE once and on the next pull they didn't so mobs are eating me and the DPS I tell em use Demon Slice > Demon Slaughter he then auto translates Bow Shock and sprints off again I'm sorry what?

We're on the lift he starts to D/C then we all AoE and the tank comes back and says sorry D/C'd that's fine, next wave comes and he's just sitting there, is he D/Cing or? We do the whole lift without em and we wait at the boss, he goes sorry gotta go and leaves, uhhh okay? Later that day I see em in PF LFG for Baelsar's Wall very confusing maybe he didn't have time? No idea.

Not that I've agreed with any of StormChurro's posts so far that I've read, but they do have a point. At this stage in the game poetics are basically getting thrown at you, old gear isn't difficult to upgrade and even if they're making their way through the story for the first time they should be getting their FREE HQ set of gear from doing the quests in the zone. There's no excuse at this point for being undergeared for dungeons. Augmented Shire is 270, Bardam's drops 276 and the HQ lvl 64 and 66 stuff are 273 and 279 respectively. That's a noticeable difference, especially if we're talking a tank. It's not unreasonable to expect at the very least i270 gear as that's what Shisui drops.

You can probably wing it in regular shire on bardam's (if you are good), but I have a post a few pages back of two healers back to back in full regular shire and one of them with all primal accessories in DOMA CASTLE. It isn't a bad thing to let them know they need to get new gear. I'll quote the hilarity.

I'm not disagreeing with your point, more the delivery of said point. I'm a big advocate for people being appropriately geared and knowing how to use their skills/not stand in bad/etc. If you read my post again, I was actually agreeing with you on the fact that they should be held to specific gear standards. This is a failing on SE's part by not imposing an Ilvl restriction on all of the dungeons regardless of leveling or expert/raids.

Sorry, I am just so used the stormblood Dark Knight.

I don't understand how hard it is to use defensive cooldowns.

I mean, I only have 4 at my level really, Rampart, the other one that negates 30% (can't recall name - It is shift+1 to me), Hallowed Ground (for emergencies only), and Sheltron.

My normal defensive rotation is:
Rampart - When Rampart ends - Sheltron - When that ends - Shift+1 - When that ends - Sheltron - Then Sheltron every time I can until Rampart comes back up...

You'll actually be better served using Hallowed as a regular defensive for trash pulls or to mitigate a tank buster that will apply some sort of debuff. With the way server ticks go it's not always possible to have it fire off in a legitimate emergency situation. Better to use those 10 seconds of invuln on a larger trash pull to give the healer some extra freedom to DPS.

To give your healer an easy time, a large pull combined with hallowed ground + sentinel is 20 seconds of really not much damage at all. Hallowed ground so OP :)

Really? I'd been using it for bosses mostly when I hit less than 30% - I'll try adding it to my normal rotation - It just has such a long cooldown.

I've been battered for days for it, and at this point it's not even funny anymore. I was a big ol' meany to those "new" players, honestly, and this time I'll be real here, if you actually think that is me being "rude" you have another thing coming. That isn't "mean" or "rude". "Mean" or "rude" would have been me in my SWTOR PvP days on PoT5 where trash talking was common, and trash talking should be common since it is a great way to further competition and have a good time. Can't do that here, you'll get banned. You don't even have to trash talk to get banned, any kind of criticism is enough to get the hammer, literally. I hate this high and mighty attitude that goes on in the FF community, for that matter. Telling someone they need to get new gear isn't rude, if you think that is rude you must have some very high standards for what isn't. Ridiculous. My post wasn't even about the healer, healers wipe me all the time as evidenced by the screenshots above.

I'm supposed to be over here going "Pretty please would you go get some new gear, it would really make healing these pulls easier on you, and the tank doesn't have to work as hard to keep themselves alive, it is good for the entire group!"? It doesn't matter how you word it someone is gonna take it as passive-aggressive, because any kind of suggestion or criticism no matter how nice it is, will be met with backlash.

I just thought it was a funny chat with a mentor. If nobody knows this already, I hate mentors. I have advocated for the entire system to be shut down for months now. The Mentor system is useless. Novice network is a glorified chatroom; linkshell, where mentors can talk to other mentors about their favorite anime! That mentor didn't pipe up or try to help that player in any way until I was a big meany. Slap me on the wrist for being rude. Most mentors that display the crown I come across don't even know how to use an AOE combo.

If I was actually being "rude", I would have been banned in-game a long time ago. I have never once been talked to by a GM.

Oh and another thing, I actually am leveling both AST (61) and GNB (70). Guess what? I stopped leveling it. You know why? I don't have adequate gear, nor do I have enough poetics to continue. I can queue right now, but all I will be is a burden to my party. So I halted it. I accidentally threw away my augmented scaevan tank chest, and I still need to by an augmented scaevan gunblade, I need to buy a full left side of healer shire gear. One of these players? They would enter anyway, drag the whole team down. Like the mentor a few pages back in trash gear thinking they could actually tank Holminster switch.

Pretty much. You have to use your dcd or shield heals on tanks ahead of time otherwise they will get hit anyway.

Hallowed ground is also fantastic for doing insanely large pulls you'd otherwise not/ rarely survive and have a caster use LB2 + everyone else going nuts with aoe. Had a couple of PLD do it in SB leveling dungeons when I was lvling my WHM. If you have a decent group and tell them what you're about to do so they fire with everything they have it can save a lot of time.
Plus it's fun :D
But otherwise it's a fantastic "oh shit" button - if only more tanks would actually remember to use it.

Oh and macro it! It's good to let the healer know that they don't need to heal you at all for the duration.

I tried pvp for the first time and already regret it.
Some asshole was scolding the two healers the entire game, but mainly me.
I had a brain fart basically at the very start of the game because I was reading the abilities since I noticed that some of them have completely different effects in PvP and ran into the enemy group ( I was with our group btw, our group just stopped running I guess ).
ONCE.
And after that some douche Machinist was scolding me the entire game making snarky comments like '' wtf these healers '' etc ( but mainly targeted at me ) even tho I did nothing wrong the rest of the game and was staying with our group and keeping people alive as best I could and dps:ing people.

And ofc when we lost it was apparently my fault because I was supposed to carry the entire team?
He gave me shit for dying in the last battle too when I had to get in close because everyone else was in the thick of it ( I need to be in range to heal, duh? ) and I was pulled in by the enemy and focused down hard ( I still stayed alive for a while, but I can't heal through an entire team forever... ).
And he started accusing me of just running into the enemy the whole game because I did it once at the very beginning of the game.
Once = '' the whole game ''???
It's not as if our team was organized to begin with, everyone was just running around in circles basically and I was just following because I assumed that they'd know better ( including the guy scolding me who was just farting around himself... ).

Someone did whisper me afterwards tho and said nice things which kinda evens it out but holy crap.
The whole thing just reminded me why I tend to stay away from team PvP games and why I love fighting games ( because in fighting games you can't blame other people when you lose ).
There's always these toxic try-hards who think that they're these amazing players and that it's always other peoples fault when they lose...

They are actually wrong here. One learning healer will not make or break what I assume is a frontline match? Frontline is based on horde tactics, as in group play, large group play. If they are dying left and right it's probably because they actually have no clue how to play, especially as a ranged class machinist. I play PvP semi-frequently as Bard and almost never die and still come out as one of the top damage, of at least my alliance.

Well, it has to be frontline, because you can't chat in ranked feast, if I remember correctly. That dude is completely in the wrong.

Yep, if you use it near the start of the dungeon you'll get two uses out of it in most situations unless you're hauling ass. Also make sure to use Arm's Length after the stun resist builds if you're running with a WHM and they're actually using Holy. You'll notice a significant reduction in incoming damage and your healer will thank you for it.
